Even great for Locals

As a new resident of New York, this gave me a unique opportunity to explore the place where I would be living. The variety of food was great (especially the Cannollis!) and the history was even better. The information was extremely useful and I have gone back to many of the restaurants already! Thanks for a fabulous time!

VERY glad we did this tour - and you will be too!

Our guide, Michael, was wonderful, very welcoming and made you feel like a freind being shown around, rather than someone on a tour. He was knowledgebale, genuinely interested in the area, and you knew he had a life time of experience around there. It was wonderful that passers-by stopped to say hello, that people called out to him from across the street, this was a guy who KNEW the area, and the area knew him. He gave us his personal thoughts, as well as those of his colleagues, on all the places around Greenwich Village, which encouraged us to go back the following nights for a bite and a drink, and we were comfortable with our choices, knowing these places were preferred by locals. We also received a history lesson which was wonderful, at times it truly felt like being taken back into another time, you could imagine life there 50, 80, 100 + years ago. The food we were given as a taster was magnificent, and I got to try some new delicacies. Next time I'm in New York, I hope to stay in greenwich, and be able to experience more of the delights in the area - I'll be keeping the handout for reference! We came to know about this tour from family/friends, and I will definitely be recommending it to others - in fact I already did! ps. can you tell Michael that the jazzclub mentioned by the 2 Australian girls is called The Zipper Theatre 336 West 37

We would highly recommend the Greenwich Food Tour. It was fun, informative and when it was over, we felt like we 'personally knew' the Village well and we traveled back to it 2 more times to visit some more shops and eat dinner at 2 of the restaurants on the tour, which were fabulous. Oh - and of course the incredible bakeries!! No matter how many times you visited the Village, you would miss out on SO much if you didn't do the tour!

We had a lot of fun and had a wonderful opportunity to tour an area we knew about but had never had a chance to tour before. The restaurants were terrific, and the entire neighborhood was a lot of fun--we learned so much! We can't wait to return so we can try out some of those restaurants! Thanks so much for the recommendations!

Our tour guide Michael was excellent. You could tell he loved his neighborhood and certainly knew the history of the village. All day people would call out his name, he appeared to be involved in his community. My sister and I took our Mom for mother's day and she was amazed - since she had grown up in the city and had now idea that the village was such a beautiful area.

As residents of the UWS, my friends and I had never ventured to Chelsea and had no idea what it had to offer. Not only did we get a chance to enjoy some great food, we also learned about the neighborhood and are eager to go back to the Market again soon. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgable of the food and culture!

This was an excellent tour. Two of us went and thoroughly enjoyed the food and information provided by the guide concerning the market history and local neighborhood. We would definitely join a similar tour of another NYC neighborhood.

This tour was recommended to me by a friend who heard I was going to New York on a bus trip. I have been to NYC many many times, but never knew about this tour. I suggested it to my 2 friends who I was going on the bus tour with & they, too, had been to NYC many many times & so we all decided it would be something different to do than the usual "tourist" type things. We were right! This was an excellent choice & all of us agreed it was well worth it. We are recommending it to everyone. We also agreed that our tour guide, Todd, made this event the success that it was. He was excellent, enthusiastic, knowledgeable & personable. He was great. We even asked if we could request him if we decided to do it again or if we had friends who would be doing this. Anyway, great choice. We are now thinking to do the other food tour the next time. Thank you & hang on to Todd. He's worth it.

Yummy food and interesting historical tidbits
Fri, May 6, 05   11:00 AM Sangster Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I loved the food tour! The combination of eating yummy food, learning historical tidbits about Greenwich Village and exploring restaurants that are off the beaten track was wonderful. Our guide was well informed and enthusiastic. It was obvious that she was well known and loved in the neighborhood. My husband and I ate at a different restaurant from the tour each night for the rest of our trip. I've already recommended the tour to friends who were headed to NYC. I wish there was something like this in all big cities.

Very worthwhile, more for the cultural history
Fri, May 6, 05   11:00 AM darciefunk Female 30-39 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The tour was very worthwhile, particularly from the perspective of learning about the areas cultural history. The guide had a strong knowledge of where to eat and purchase ingredients, however didn't have a particuarly good knowledge of the food itself or preparation methods. This set us up for our stay in the Village and was very worthwhile.

My friends and I had a wonderful time. Cindy our animator was really terrific (funny and very informational). It made me to appreciate Greenwich Village a whole lot more. Choices of restaurant and food was excellent. We went to the Fish and Surya restaurant because of your recommandation and truly enjoyed it. A big thank you to Cindy and the organisation.
