We had a terrific time on the tour. Cindy was great and the tour was wonderful. We walked away with a warm feeling about Greenwich village and about the restaurants that we visited. We even went back the next day for pastries to bring home to the family. Thanks for a great visit to NYC.

The food ranged from good to incredible on this tour. (I particularly liked Bleecker Street Pizza!) Cindy was an enjoyable and informative guide. I never knew much about this part of the City. Now, I cannot wait to go back.

We had previously gone on the Foods of NY Chelsea Market tour and enjoyed it so much we signed up for the new Village/Soho tour. In comparison the tour guide for the Chelsea tour (Cindy) had a deep knowledge of the history of that area, including a number of quirky facts. We also felt that our group was welcomed by the eateries and stores in the Chelsea area. Our guide for the Village/Soho tour did not seem as knowledgable about the area, nor as comfortable providing the tour. Also, although we toured many restuarants and learned about the foods and cultures that inhabited the area, there was not much tasting. Overall, the Village/Soho tour needs to be better developed with more partcipation from the eateries in the area. This is not to say we didn't have a nice time. We even returned to Raffettos and the Indian Bread Company to make purchases for home.

Great tour for entire family!

We are from Florida and went to NYC for my oldest daughter, Sloane's, 16th birthday and my middle daughter, Leland's, 13th birthday. Sloane did all the planning for the trip, including scheduling and ticket purchasing. We only had 3 days, so she wanted to make sure we got everything in that we wanted to do. This tour was definitely something the entire family wanted to do, and it not only met our expectations, but exceeded them. We enjoyed every minute of the tour. The 3 hours just flew by. The food was incredible and the samples were very large. Go hungry!! Our guide was knowledgable, entertaining and engaging. He made sure the entire group was enjoying themselves. It was definitely a highlight of our trip!

This is the second tour we've taken and Kirk (Kurt?) was our guide both times - we were so lucky. Not only do we learn about food, restaurants, and the area, we get a stand up comedy routine also. We have sent both of our adult children on this tour and they loved it too. I had never been to Chelsea before and now we will definitely be back! To be exposed to such amazing food and entertainment - priceless!!

Best Food Tour in the U.S.

Of course, I'll qualify that by saying I've only been on one other--in San Francisco--but I was starving at the end of that one, it was much more expensive, and the tour guide was an automaton who would not allow us to ask him any questions for fear he may blow a chip. This was the third time I took this exact food tour with you folks, and except for the fact that Zito's closed down and there doesn't seem to be any other place in the village that sells sausage bread (you folks need to investigate that post haste!), it remains one of the most enjoyable, "local" things my family and I have done over the years. Our guide this time, Michael, was brilliant. It's quite surreal to walk around the village and have people on every block say hello to the guide, as if one was walking around a small town. Our plan is to continue doing these tours at least two or three times a year (every season, except winter), as the food is great, and since I tend to forget things very easily, it's like I learn something new every time (though sitting in Chumley's is something I never forget, since I write as well, and it's quite a thrill sitting at the same tables where some of the greats hung out). As an aside: I did notice that some of the out of towners gave Michael some pretty pathetic tips, which I found unfortunate, so maybe there's some way to imply what the tip should be, as I take it most people have no clue. Bravo, and continued success.

The tour was given by enthusastic members of the community. It was well organized and the food was ready when we arrived. The bottle of water came in handy. They went to great lengt to accomodate special requests. It was nice to hear that the food is actually paid for. The historical remarks were nice as well and delivered the background to the district.

This was our second NY Food Tour. (Having experienced our first tour of Greenwich Village in 2005). To our pleasant surprise, we had thesame tour guide as our first, Kirk! He is absolutely awesome. With the perfect combination of humor, knowledge and enjoyment, he makes the food tour experience a MUST! Hope to be back again for another tour next year. Hope to see you again, Kirk! Thanks for a great afternoon!

This was our third food tour with Foods of NY and definitely the best. Our guide, Kurt, was exceptional. His knowledge & personality made for a fun-filled day even with the weather from the hurricane blowing through. Thanks for providing such an economical and information packed event! The food was wonderful too!!

We had a great tour of Greenwich Village, led by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Curt. We went back to one of the restaurants he recommended and had a great dinner that evening.

Not enough village variety/food wasn't as expected

I felt like we were "in the way" most of the places we went. We were taken into a pretty little "French/Italian" restaurant and not given anything to eat. We were taken into a "spice shop" and were handed two candies outside the door from a place we couldn't visit? That was strange. The first pizza we ate was cold and overcooked, but the second was actually delicious. Two pizzas though, with all the other choices? We met at a place that was closed, but given a fourth of a tart from a place next door to Roccos and told that the best item sold there was the gelato after we walked off. It was OK, but where are the cannolis that were shown in the advertisement? It would have made more sense on a hot summer day to have a little cooler treat, but that wasn't an option. The guide, who admitted she was not from the village, when we were walking through a residention area on the tour started badmouthing developers who were "going to destroy the village until it was rescued from their evil and greed by the creation of the historical district." I did speak up, as I am married to a developer and I was COMPLETELY OFFENDED by what she said. Developers only develop an area because people are wanting the product. She should have also been badmouthing those who wanted to modernize the area for their personal comfort; after all this is a capitalistic society. Developers only have a job because consumers are requesting a product. The neighborhood was modernized by the different immigrants who lived there over the years, why not blast them, too! I also thought her knowledge of historical data was sketchy at best, and she should learn never to ask a question unless she knows the complete answer. For example, why the keyholes are low on the doors. Finally, to end this diatribe, at the end of the tour by some (Greek?)meat stand without so much as a goodbye, the guide just said the tour was over and left! We wandered around a little bit by ourselves and had a much more relaxing time without her. It was nothing like the Sex and the City tour that was so WELL presented. It would be very difficult for me to call this tour a "Good Deal" or "Money Well Spent" for two skinny pieces of pizza (one overooked), a little meat in a pita, two olives, a dry slice of bread and 3 small tastes of cheese that I could have gotten on my own just by asking. Almost all the food stops were right in the same block as well. No mention of the Magnolia Bake Shop which has been on numerous food channel shows either. I wouldn't say the tour wasn't fun, but I know most anyone could have had a similar experience striking out on their own, since getting to and from the Village was on your own already. Thank you for allowing me to express my honest opinion.
