Food and History

My daughter and I had a great time on the foods of New York tour. We were both stuffed by the time we were done. The tidbits of information about Grenwich Village were just as tasty as the food. We returned the next night for a lovely dinner at Little Havana and dessert at Rocco's Pastries (and returned to Rocco's on our day of departure for tasty treats for the long flight home). This tour was recommended to me by one of my co-workers and I am very greatful to her for sugesting it. Susan Birnbaum led our tour and had us all hanging by her every word despite the heat of the day. I would (and will) recommend this tour to anyone. Kathryn Wafer California

Interesting & Delicious

I am local, but like exploring different areas of the city. I ran into a group taking this tour a few weeks ago and they said it was great, so when my mom and sister were coming in for the day, I decided to try it. We all had a great time, despite the heat. Our group leader, Susan, was very knowledgeable and made every stop interesting. The food was delicious and plentiful. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore the west village and also learn about good/fun places to eat.

May daughter who is a New Yorker and myself from out of town found this to be a delightful tour. We especially enjoyed the combination of historic details about the Village along with the tastings in the various shops. It is a wonderful way to get a feel for the village and all that it has to offer

Our group consisted of only eight persons which allowed for a more intimate interaction when traveling through the streets of Greenwich Village. Although we only covered about a ten block radius of space we learned much about the current and historical happenings in the area. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in getting to know new york.

Well and interestingly run. Great food. Wonderful guide who obviously loves the area, is familar with a huge number of the residents and makes every effort to include them in a positive manner. I'd go again!

3 hours & $38 well spent

Our tour guide, Kurt, was delightful, knowledgeable, a just-right jokester, yet professional and obviously having fun. As a foodie and food writer, I thoroughly appreciated the variety of eateries and vendors that we visited. I'll be back one day with my husband. However, I think the sequencing of our samplings could have been better planned. To start off at 11am with pizza was OK, but to move on to a cannoli, then an "arancini" rice ball, chocolate-covered nuts and -- later cheese, bread & olives, a rich & sweet dessert, and finally (!) and thankfully, (should have been way before the sweets), Turkish lamb in a pita. Quite a "challenge" to my confused stomach on a very hot day.

Great idea for spending few hours in the City.

Our tour guide Kirt was informative and witty. He made it a fun three hours. We did visit some out of the way places that upon my return I will revisit again . I also saw some other spots that we did not visit but gave us the opportunity of knowing we would like to stop in next time for a meal.. The only different thing I would do next time is take the tour in the spring or fall when the weather is much cooler

Tour leader very knowledgeable of area and local good places to eat - unfortunately it was the most humid day of our week trip to New York. I would do this exact trip again but I'd do it the first day arriving in NYC and I'd spend an entire day in the Greenwich Village area shopping.

The tour of Greenwich Village was great. Not only was the food great, but the tour guide was also a real treat. His name was Michael and his knowledge about everything in NYC was unbelievable. He was wonderful! It was well worth the money, and really gave me an idea about what community and history of NYC is all about. I would definitely take this tour and would request to be on a tour where Michael was the tour guide. Great tour!

Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgable and a great tour guide. We did not know what to expect, but were delightfully suprised at how much we got out of the tour, being locals. Please check this tour out, a great activity for visiting family/friends.

This was a great way to spend a few hours of our weekend and worth every penny! Not only was the food tasting exceptional, the guide (Michael) was fantastic. We will definately go back to try some of the places on a full scale and to try other places at which we did not stop (but were told about by Michael). We would recommend this tour to everyone!

A Must Do!

My friend and I spend 3 days each summer in New York City, but we had never been to Grennwich Village until this year. The tour was well worth the time and money. The food was fabulous and the information intriguing. We had an excellent tour guide who was not only informative but fun. We plan to return to Greenwich Village every year now that we know the lay of the land.

Family loved this tour

My husband and I did this tour last summer and we thought our kids (19, 17, 15 and 7) would enjoy it, too. Thankfully, they did- two said it was their favorite thing we did over the weekend and all agreed it was fun. There is a lot of walking but it is at a leisurely pace, stopping for delicious bites and bits of history of Greenwich Village. The tour guide (Curt) was very personable and even though my husband and I had taken the tour last summer, Curt's tour was quite different. These are not cookie-cutter tours, and they're not advertisements for the businesses we visited. The guides know the people in the neighorhood and you really get a feeling for what it's like to live there. I feel it is absolutely worth the money to have a personalized tour so you know what you're looking at. Curt was most accommodating to all the people on the tour, and was very sweet to my little girl- speaking to her by name and complimenting her for trying all the foods. After the tour and before we left New York Sunday night for home, we went back to Bruno's twice for dessert, Aphrodisia twice for gift purchases, ate dinner at Trattoria Pesce Pasta and had a drink at Chumley's. My main advice for anyone going on the tour is COME HUNGRY because you will have a lot of food on the tour. We had pizza; cannolis; rice balls; cheese and olives; chocolate chip cookies; apricot pastries; Turkish sandwiches and more.

It was as much fun as anticipated. We also enjoyed the facts learned. It seems my mother went to school on the same street and also enjoyed my retelling of the areas history.
