A great New York experience!
Sun, Nov 13, 05   11:30 AM Jeffrey Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We travel to NYC once a year and this was our first culinary tour. We were with a great group of people and our tour leader was friendly, well-informed, and funny. We learned a lot about the area (Chelsea and the Meat Packing district) as well as some good recommendations for other areas of Manhattan. The tour was a lot of fun and we ate some great samples (definitely enough to be considered a full meal). We were so impressed with our time at the Chelsea Market that we returned the next day. We also sought out some of the vendors which had stores in other areas.

Everyone should take this tour!

Our group was a combination of one New Yorker and three visitors. The New Yorker who lives 20 minutes away from Greenwich Village was delighted to find out about some new places to visit. We all were pleasantly surprised at the full-sized samplings and the quality of the food we sampled. It was a good variety and very delicious. Our group also enjoyed learning some of the history of the area. Barrie was a great tour guide. She was well-informed and kept us moving, but she also let us savor the food samples and the sights of the area. Some of our group went back the next day to explore and enjoy some more food. I will recommend this tour to everyone I know who will visit New York City. Thanks for a great time. Vicki Meyer Pflugerville, Texas

I'd like to see more food and less pastry/desert type samples. Overall, the tour guide, Michael, was very knowledgable and very passionate about the "village". He did a very good job.

Great mix of information

I thought Michael did a terrific job of providing a variety of information about the West Village: history, architecture, politics, culture and of course, the food. Both my mother and fiance had a great time, and we lucked out with weather so it was a great event. M

Really Great Time

This was a great way to spend some time in NYC, see things we would not have seen on our own, oh yes, and to eat some good food. Our guide was excellent, and as on most tours, made this one as great as it was. In fact, the food was in some ways the least of the tour. We intend to go on the Village tour next time we are back.

Wonderful Blend of History and Food

Only my second time in the city, I was impressed by the history of the area and availabilty of a variety of foods. I tried foods I never would have ordered on my own. And to experience a real speak easy! Awsome!! Cindy was an imazing tour guide. Her relationships with other city folk helped make the city seem less vast and overwhelming - real people live there. Totally enjoyed the whole experience and would highly recommend to anyone.

the tour was fabulous
Sat, Nov 12, 05   11:30 AM denise41 Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We loved the tour. Our guide,Cindy, was great-she was funny and very informative. We all learned a lot about the Village. There were some fascinating facts about property values, speakeasies and Prohibition and the Mattel family's former home. The various food places we visited were all wonderful with interesting history of each being provided. The food we tasted was also lovely. We had been at Ellis Island on the previous day and the information we were given on the tour became a continuation of what we had seen and heard there as many of the shop/restaurant owners were descended from immigrants who had come through Ellis Island.

Our favorite activity while in NYC!

My friend and I whole-heartedly agree! We absolutely loved this tour - and a big part of the fun were our tour guides! We had Wendy for the first half of the tour. Then, we lost our group because of way too much gawking at the fabulous foods, and did the second part with Kirk! They were both truly hysterical, quick-witted, kind, informative, wonderful people! No question was too stupid, they welcomed it all! The Meat Packing District is so unique. We never would have learned everything we did without this tour. Not to mention, an awareness of some wonderful restaurants in the area. Afterwards, we had mojitos at Son Cubano - per Kirk's recommedation! Lastly, the Lobster Bisque at the Lobster Place was the best thing I've ever eaten. I still dream of it and will go back next year. Thank you for providing such a great tour! It was loads of fun and a unique way to spend 3 hours in the city! Lisa Spiotta

Fabulous

First of all, our guide was exceptional. She was the perfect guide who had a lot of energy, enthusiastic, funny and was very knowledgeable about the history of the Chelsea Market/Meat Packing District, Chelsea Market building and the merchants and the surrounding areas of New York City. The other individuals who were on our tour were from other States and from New Zealand. These individuals were asking her questions pertaining to other areas of NYC and she gave them recommendations on restaurants, night clubs and most of all to be careful walking in certain areas after 10 pm and to take a cab. I would highly recommend this Culinary/Historical Chelsea Market/Meat Packing District experience to everyone including individuals who live in the surrounding Metropolitan areas (such as New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania).

We had a wonderful time on our tour! Barri was our guide and she was fantastic! We got lots of history on the Village as well as the restaurants and shops we visited. All the food we tried was so delicious we went back for more later! I would highly recommend the tour and can't wait to do the Chelsea tour on my next visit!

Great tour !

This tour exceeded my expectations, not only for sampling a variety of foods from different restaurants, but also learning historical and entertaining facts about Greenwich Village. When I finished the tour, I felt I had a real understanding of the neighborhood and we received some great tips on different restaurants. Barri did a wonderful job as a tour guide. Can't wait to return to do another tour and try more restaurants.

Loved this tour and recommending it to all my family and friends. Can't wait to come back to New York and try some other tours by the same company. The food was great, the information provided on the Village was interesting, and the tour guide was very knowledgable. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly dissappointed

I have heard such good things about this tour. My fiancee was with me and had done it once before and she agreed that this one was not good at all. We were actually hungry 2 hours in to the tour which is totally inconsistent with everything I heard about this. The tourguide shared any extra food with everyone on every stop except murray's where she ate the extra cheese herself. Lame. There were supposed to be 9 food stops but that must count the chocolate covered almond as one and the other little sugared candy that she gave us at the same time as a second. We added up the retail value of all the food we got and it was about $7 or $8. We were only full upon the last stop when we went and had turkish food.
