Excellent...we loved every minute of it.
Fri, May 6, 05   12:00 PM camardello Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This tour was recommended to me by a friend who heard I was going to New York on a bus trip. I have been to NYC many many times, but never knew about this tour. I suggested it to my 2 friends who I was going on the bus tour with & they, too, had been to NYC many many times & so we all decided it would be something different to do than the usual "tourist" type things. We were right! This was an excellent choice & all of us agreed it was well worth it. We are recommending it to everyone. We also agreed that our tour guide, Todd, made this event the success that it was. He was excellent, enthusiastic, knowledgeable & personable. He was great. We even asked if we could request him if we decided to do it again or if we had friends who would be doing this. Anyway, great choice. We are now thinking to do the other food tour the next time. Thank you & hang on to Todd. He's worth it.

Yummy food and interesting historical tidbits
Fri, May 6, 05   11:00 AM Sangster Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I loved the food tour! The combination of eating yummy food, learning historical tidbits about Greenwich Village and exploring restaurants that are off the beaten track was wonderful. Our guide was well informed and enthusiastic. It was obvious that she was well known and loved in the neighborhood. My husband and I ate at a different restaurant from the tour each night for the rest of our trip. I've already recommended the tour to friends who were headed to NYC. I wish there was something like this in all big cities.

Very worthwhile, more for the cultural history
Fri, May 6, 05   11:00 AM darciefunk Female 30-39 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The tour was very worthwhile, particularly from the perspective of learning about the areas cultural history. The guide had a strong knowledge of where to eat and purchase ingredients, however didn't have a particuarly good knowledge of the food itself or preparation methods. This set us up for our stay in the Village and was very worthwhile.

My friends and I had a wonderful time. Cindy our animator was really terrific (funny and very informational). It made me to appreciate Greenwich Village a whole lot more. Choices of restaurant and food was excellent. We went to the Fish and Surya restaurant because of your recommandation and truly enjoyed it. A big thank you to Cindy and the organisation. France from Montréal.

ENJOYED THE CULTURAL ASPECT OF THE TOUR
Fri, May 6, 05   11:00 AM MADMADDY Female Unspecified Combination Unspecified
We booked this tour on a whim and really enjoyed it. We liked all the cultural tidbits our tour guide related with enthusiasm. We were a little disappointed with the amount of food we got to taste. It was all delicious but we thought we would be trying more things than what we got. After the tour was over , we went hunting for a place to eat, which of course was one of the places we tried on the tour. We will definitely try the Chelsea Market tour next.

So good, we did them both!

After so enjoying the tour of Greenwich with Todd, we set out to do the Chelsea Market tour as well. We enjoyed them both thoroughly: the food, the guides, and the company of other walkers. We think they are exceelent value and would recommend them to anyone visiting or living in New York. Tell Todd that the reason there was another couple at Chumleys (they said they found it on the internet) might be that it is also featured in the Lonely Planet City Guide of New York (2004 edition), in their walking tour of Greenwich.

I did the Greenwich Village about a year ago. I liked both, but did like the Greenwich Village one a little better. Overall a great 3 hours!

What the tour encompassed
Thu, May 5, 05   11:00 AM debwin7 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
While looking for something to do in New York, I stumbled upon this food tasting tour. I decided to participate in the tour because I enjoy trying new things and I thought it would be an excellent way for me to learn more about New York, a place I had never been before. After having taken the tour, I did get to taste several different foods and places in Greenwich Village. I wish, however, that there would have been more food tasting and less history about Greenwich Village. I did learn a lot about the area, but I felt that I was misled about everything the tour encompassed. Had I known we would be doing a lot more standing and talking, I may not have participated in it. This is a great tour for those who enjoy talking about the history of different places and getting a hands on experience. If you don't enjoy standing for long periods of time, this tour may not be the best for you.

My husband and I just loved the tour. It was the highlight of our trip. In fact we ended up back in Greenwich village twice more on our holiday. We will recommend it to any of our friends visiting NYC. The tour guide was exceptional!

Pretty good

The food was good and the information was good but there was too much just standing around. The gyros were good except it was hard to hold on to everything we had and try to put them together. The tour guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area.

Good kickoff for a week in NY
Wed, May 4, 05   11:30 AM sssasy Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Very good tour and excellent guide on where to go if you would like to eat somethin nice. This could be hard to find if you don't know the city and this guide was a very good shortcut to avoid goingt to restaurants low quality. Good handout material as well. Also interesting to hear about the history about the restaurants and buildings in the area. The only criticism I have was that the guide could work a bit on her speaking technique. Sometimes she spoke turned away from the group towards for example a building making it hard to hear what she said. Otherwise the guide was very good and fun to listen to.

Important: Take this tour your first day in town!
Wed, May 4, 05   11:30 AM susanbohnsac Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I say take this tour first so you have time to plan the rest of your week going back to all your favorite spots later in the week. Besides enjoying delicious food and sampling some new things (like falafel and canoli), I thoroughly enjoyed the tour guide's (Cindy) historical and architectural narratives/stories. I also enjoyed learning more about the family business atmosphere that prevails in this area. Between history and the personal touch of family stories, It all became so much more interesting seeing and hearing it first-hand. We even visited an old speak-easy and got to hear some pretty fascinating stories there too. Also the timing of eating, walking and listening, then back to eating was well planned out. Besides wanting to take the other tours now, I would even do this one again because I think I could absorb more of the historical detail...not to mention all those delicious little samples along the way! In the meantime the printed summary of restaurants that we visited will be very helpful--especially for those of us who no longer have such a keen memory. I really appreciated getting the written summary. I'd recommend this tour to everyone!
