Excellent...better than we had imagined

Great introduction to the West Village neighborhood. Food tastings and local history as told by our guide, Heather, were excellent. The "tastings" were more than enuogh for lunch. Also enjoyed the "sit down" tasting as it was nice to get off of our feet for 20 minutes in the middle of the 3 hour tour. We walked to and from our hotel in Times Square to the tour...about 2.4 miles each way...and glad for it as we felt the excercise helped work of some of the calories! We left the city this morning to return to Boston but before leaving we drove back to the village...to buy some cookies and cookie mix from Milk and Cookies Bakery, some freshly made Rice Balls from Faicco's (the Pork store) and a whole pizza pie from Joe's. Needless to say, we had some of each during our 4 hour ride home. We will be back in NYC next summer and will definitely do another food tour!

Went on the Chinatown Walking Tour with my husband and two children (age 12 and 14) in the middle of July. We all really enjoyed the experience. The children did not appreciate the food but they tasted everything and thanks to our competent guide they found the tour interesting and exciteing. Even though the tour ended at three o'clock we were still not hungry in the evening. I would recommend the tour to everyone who´s interested in (or curious about) the Chinese Cuisine and would like to know more.

Great Experience

This is, without a doubt, one of the best & most unique ways to see a New York neigbourhood, espcially Greenwich Village. Our guide, Zefra, was both knowledgable & wry in her observations & comments. That she lives in the Village was an added bonus. Having a guide that can address shopkeepers & passersby by name gave our tour an intimacy that would have been lacking otherwise. Plus, Zefra was just a hoot to be around. We can't say enough about how great she was. As for the tour stops & food tastings, they really provided us with a sample of the some of the great eateries, restuarants & food stores in the Village. The only downside to this tour is that you come away disappointed that you don't live in the Village & have access to all of these places on a regular basis. We'd do this tour again in a heartbeat!.

Great Tour

I enjoyed most everything about the tour including the tour guide. I enjoyed the historical and cultural aspects of the tour. I am new to the area so I wanted to explore some of New York's City's finest. The only part of the tour I didn't enjoy was the vegetarian restaurant. I felt it was more a modern part of the city and wasn't very historical. I am not a vegetarian person and the food was actually decent but I didn't feel it was a necessary stop on the trip. The other part of the trip definitely satisfied most vegetarians needs so I felt that should be left out. Otherwise I recommend the trip highly!

I thought this was a great tour. There are so many restaurants in any given neighborhood and it is nice to get the inside scoop on where to go. I was pleasantly surprised at how much food we ate. I was stuffed half way through. I didn't turn anything down though! It is also a fantastic opportunity to get to know a neighborhood and it's history from someone who knows it so well.

This was an educational, fun, and tasty way to get to know one of hidden treasure neighborhoods in the City. Our tour guide was VERY knowledgeable about the restaurants, culture, and the wide variety of foods. Also, he was very polite, enthusiastic and very accommodating. The food on the tour was an excellent mix of what is provided in the neighborhood. My girlfriend and I were expecting mostly finger-food tastes here and there, but I was very happy and very full afterward. When the tour was over, we visited a few of the shops including Murry's Cheese, Amy's Bread, and Aphrodisa.

From start to finish, this tour was amazing. We were lucky to have Kurt as our tour guide. By the time we received our bottle of water and neighorhood guide, Kurt had memorized our (there were 16 of us) names and where we were from. He was incredibly knowledgeable about not only the food in the area but also the history and architecture of Greenwich Village...and he was so funny. We will definitely be back for more tours. My only recommendation is that you warn participants not to eat anything before the tour. I had a bagel and 10:30am and our tour started at 11:30 am. What a big mistake!

Some highlights/some disappointments
Sun, Jul 19  11:00 AM wellness Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I enjoyed the tour but found that the guide focused too much on the restaurants/shops and how much they cost etc. - it almost seemed that they were more concerned with future business for the participating companies than the current tour. I would have skipped a few of the stops (e.g. 2nd pizza) - focus on a few with an opportunity to sit down and enjoy the experience rather than rush through them all. I really appreciated the opportunity to hear about the history, iconic buildings and characteristics of the neighbourhood.
