I picked this tour for my family weekend get-together after already doing this with friends 3 years ago. I had Darrell both times as tour guide and he was great! We all just loved the tour and will be back for another next year!

Not what we had hoped

A friend of mine who is very picky and discerning recommended the food tour with rave reviews so we went in with high expectations and were unfortunately not terribly impressed. The guide we had seemed a bit flighty and not totally sure of her facts; we thought it was rather bizarre to be given one paper napkin (while standing in the rain) that we would need to hold onto for the entire 3 hours; we didn't like that the tastings were mostly carbs and contained rice in multiple occasions; and we had hoped to learn more about the architecture as well as to go into the various places we were being shown instead of just walking by. Lastly, we would have liked to have had some interaction with the chefs or owners of each restaurant/shop, however briefly. All in all, it was a disappointment. My brother lives in the neighborhood and my sister and mother were in from Chicago and Long Boat Key respectively. A friend who lives in Long Island joined us and I was visiting from Boston.

We took this tour having already done Greenich Village and SoHo in the past but with no idea of the Chelsea Area or the Meat Packing districts. We had an outstanding guide, Daryl. Our group had never been in this area. We loved the history and the tastings. We were very impressed. Dinner that evening became Postos. An additional place our guide brought us. We ordered the tasting dinner. We also returned to the Chelsea Market after the tour and shopped. Who would have believed, this is the future fashion area. The designers are moving in!!!! Highly recommend this tour.

This was the best food tasting experience Ive ever been through. Rahim, the host, is funny, smart and very informative. We will definitely be back to visit Ariyoshi! We also can't wait to check out other events hosted by Rahim

Cindy was our guide and truly was engaged, educated, and enthusiastic on the subject matter. My wife and I without hesitation would recommend the tour and Cindy to anyone visiting New York. Actually in two short days we have already made this recommendation to three other couples

I brought my friend, Gregory, for his birthday on this tour after having a wonderful experience on a previous Greenwich/Soho tour, which I enjoyed thoroughly. I didn't think it was going to be as good - didn't seem possible, but I am happy to report it was even better , largely due to our guide, Cindy, who is absolutely delightfut. We paln on going on the meat district tour for my birthday and will be seeking her out specifically. I have shared your websit with numerous friiends so others can enjoy. Thank you!!, Jean Siry

Outstanding food and NYC geographical experience

Our tour guide Suzie was extremely knowledgeable about the different food locations and tastings, as well as the Central Greenwich Village area. Her personal experience within the territory and with the food was evident. My wife and I felt that the tour provided excellent value for the price. The volume of food was more than expected and Suzie's vignettes covering some of the sites (Minetta Lane, Washington Sq. Park, Cafe Wa) were very informative. Absolutely no complaints.

Fantastic!

We had four days in NYC and this tour had been recommended to us. MAKE SURE YOU DO IT even if it means you miss some of the other more traditional sightseeing. Walking around Greenwich Village will give you a sense of the real New York and the restaurants that real New Yorkers rate. We tasted some fantastic food, met some of the chefs and laughed all the way round with our tour guide who had a great sense of humour. Our tour guide was Sephra (a trained pastry chef) so was more food focused that history and acrhitecture but that suited us fine!

Great variety - even for vegetarians!

Good variety of food. Great restaurants - we plan on going back to most of them. What was fantastic is hearing the owners/chefs of restaurant and speak and answering questions. More than enough food provided on the tour - but it was all wonderful. There were vegetarians in our group that were really well catered for - all places provided equal (or better!) alternatives - even at the butcher. It was great having the break in the middle with lots of walking. Wonderful history of the area - and the added movie and television references just added to the tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. The tour also oriented us in a very unfamiliar area. The bakery was a wonderful way to end the tour(probably the best stop!) - we remained behind for coffee. Highly recommended - a must if visiting New York.

Our tour guide Susan was very informative and knowlegable. The best stop was the first one and that was the Indian restaurant. I will definitely be back to Aamchi Pao. Do not eat anything before the tour because you get a lot of food.

My husband and I have lived in NYC for a few years and we went on this with my mom who was visiting from out of town. The tour was more than just food. We learned about the neighborhood/NYC history, tried amazing food samples and had quite a few laughs too. I would recommend this tour to anyone - locals and tourists alike!

Our tour guide was fantastic. I could tell that she knew a lot about food (she was a pastry chef) and she also had a passion for the subject matter. My family and I had a great time tasting the food and learning about the history behind Greenwich Village's landmarks. This was four hours well spent!

A delightful first experience in New York

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I booked the Greenwich Village/Soho tour for my husband and myself for our first day in New York. It's been 30 years since I visited New York, and we had just 3 days to feel the rhythm of the city. Our tour was terrifuc, owing to the knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide. (I believe his name is Rahim, a charming young man.) His knowledge of the neighborhoods, his appreciation of the history, and his love of the food made our visit to the area such a pleasure. Thank you for treating us tourists to such a pleasurable experience.

We loved the walking tour. We loved it so much that we returned the next night to one of the resturants that was on the tour. I have passed this website to one of my friends that will be going to New York next year. On my next trip to New York I will do another walking tour of another district.

Great guide - mostly food

This was primarily a foodie event. As long as one is hungry, it was a worthwhile experience. Our particular guide was also very good in bringing up some "exotic" details about locations in the area. I get the impression that the knowledge he shared was based more on his personal interests and his own initiative, rather than informaiton that would be found in a standard tour. I feel very fortunate we had him, since his angle on many of these things was a lot of fun. We'll try other tours as well, at least for the food.
