| The guide was exceptional: full of energy, very knowledgeable, funny, a first-class host.
On the other hand, the food was very Americanised. This is not really Japanese food, it's what Americans think that Japanese food is (exception: sushi).
Also, quality and variety were not really very good. There are much better addresses in New York for Japanese food.
I would keep the guide and change the restaurant. |

| My husband took me on this tour which was so different from 'just another dinner' evening. We enjoy trying different foods and this tour was perfect. Our host was well versed in his knowledge of japanese and sushi information , he was funny and very pleasant throughout the night. I was totally satisfied with the way the tour was done because it allowed my husband and I to understand a little background info on the preparation of the food , which made the tasting part more delicious. We discovered we were eating what we refer to as 'sushi' upside down all these years. The host really took his time in explaining the history and we learned the difference between cold and hot sake. It is a great gift giving idea or a just a very different date alternative to a dinner and movie night. try It. |

| We LOVED this event!! Raheem was an awesome host - we learned so much from him and had a great time. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it! I have been eating sushi since I was five years old, and I now appreciate it so much more! My boyfriend just discovered that he also enjoys eating Japanese cuisine, and he had a great time as well. I would recommend this event to anyone who enjoys food!! |

| We are Japanese-foodophiles and this was some of the best sushi and tapas we've have outside of Japan. The group was also younger and more interesting than I expected. Thoughwe didn't learn too much, most typical japanese lovers would likely get some good nuggest of info out of it. Definitely recommended. |

| I took my girlfriend to the Sushi and Tapas event on Valentine's Day. It was an unforgettably special time. The food was incredibly unique, including the best sushi I have ever had (that seared salmon was dreamy!) and Raheem was the perfect host. He was gracious and friendly and accommodating and funny--awesome. I highly recommend this event to anyone looking for a great date night in New York or even just a special time with a friend or family member. Kudos to Foods of New York--you've done it again! |

| From start to finish our Sushi Experience was excellant. The presentation of the sushi and the description and history provided were just right. Our host was knowledgable and gave many "real life' examples. There was pleanty of food. I'm a 220 pound guy and it satisfied my needs.
One question on your web site --- Information provided during the dinner taught us that sushi (typical fish on rice) was meant to be eaten with your fingers, however, the picture on the Foods of New York web site shows chop sticks. Probably just to please the Western culture????? |

I'm sure I'll only retain a tiny fraction of what we learned as we ate our way through several courses of Japanese fare. The host, Raheem, was a wealth of knowledge about preparation, customs, tastes, history, and trends in this cuisine, all delivered with a high level of enthusiasm and delight to be sharing with us.
The only negative aspect of our experience was the unfortunate attendance by a woman and her two adult daughters, all of whom chattered away like magpies, rudely ignoring the host and making it hard for the rest of us to hear what he was saying. Amazingly, he maintained his good humor throughout, never once speaking harshly to them (I wouldn't have been able to restrain myself), but instead directing his voice more toward the rest of us who were listening.
A unique tour/dinner...highly recommended. |
