| As someone who loves their sushi, eats it all the time (twice a week on average these days...once went 6 months straight eating it daily), and considers himself pretty knowledgable on the whole thing, I was shocked! First I was shocked how amazing the food was - from the first course (which was a huge variety of chicken, beef, squid, etc that was nothing like the 'sushi' I've been used to) straight through to the more familiar raw fish dishes, the tastings were fantastic. I used the word 'tastings' loosely because this was a full meal and then some. And second I was shocked how much I did not know about sushi - from how it originated to why the wasabi and ginger are eaten the way they are, to the precision with which each tasting is prepared. One thing that was unexpected was how friendly our group became - I went solo just because the event sounded so interesting, but by the time I left I had gotten to know several other participants very well. Next time I go I'll be bringing friends, family or a date...it was one of the most unique, enjoyable and informative things I've done around NYC in quite some time. And our host, Raheem, was a star - knew much more than his share about sushi, kept the meal lively and moving, and did a great job catering to what I and the rest of the group thought the whole way. I'll be back!!! |

| The guide was exceptional: full of energy, very knowledgeable, funny, a first-class host.
On the other hand, the food was very Americanised. This is not really Japanese food, it's what Americans think that Japanese food is (exception: sushi).
Also, quality and variety were not really very good. There are much better addresses in New York for Japanese food.
I would keep the guide and change the restaurant. |

| First off, the food was fantastic. The menu was chosen well, and covered a broad rage of textures and tastes. Even the more seemingly mundane dishes (like chicken or tofu) were elevated by some masterful cooking. I've never been partial to raw squid, and this was the first time I encountered raw squid I would happily reorder, now that I know how it can and should taste like in the hands of experts.
You do get a fair amount of food to, so come hungry...
Our host Raheem was delightful (and knowledgeable); and his enthusiasm and passion for food certainly added to the experience.
It may not seem like the essential NY experience... but I did not regret choosing to spare some of my precious 'touristy' time for this. I would probably have gone back for more had I the time. |

| The entire experience was terrific! Well organised, conducted with enthusiasm and filled with informative narrative. The tasting portions are large and quite delectable. I left with an appreciation and insight into Japanese culinary traditions, and increased confidence when next ordering Japanese food. No mean feat for an evening's session. I would suggest this tour for anyone who is curious about Japanese food. It is an excellent introduction. Also, it demystifiesJapanese cuisine and makes for an evening of fun, food and great sake/beer! I have every intention of attending this again on my next visit to New York.
Our culinary guide was wonderful! Fun and open to questions. He added so much to the experience with his humour, knowledge and passion for japanese cuisine! |

| My boyfriend and I were in NYC for the first time. I'm definately a planner and found this food tasting event online. It was a great way to spend an evening in the city. The restaurant was great and had a great ambiance. The food was delicious and the facts that we were given on Japanese food history and traditions was fantastic. The event host had lots of personality and great information. I gave this to my boyfriend as a birthday gift and he loved it. I would definately recommend this event and think it's a great value. |

| I do a similar type of educational session & tasting with beer as part of my job.
I told my son that the fact that our host spoke for 2 1/2 hours and was constantly informing us with pertinent in interesting information was way above the curve on presentations like this.
Highly recommend |

| We both had such a great time at this event. At first I was reluctant to purchase the tickets bc i though it was a bit pricey, but once I was there I felt like I underpaid! The food is plentiful, the company enjoyable, and the drinks were flowing! Also, there were so many interesting facts about sushi that our tour guide Rahim supplied. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone! Have a great time! |

| since I was by myself and everyone else was with a couple, I felt a little out of the loop. Perhaps a more informal introduction to get conversation going amongst ourselves would have been helpful. Other than that, Rasheem was an incredible presenter and the food was lovely. Thank you for such a great experience. I would reccomend it to anyone. |

| We have never had good sushi until our visit here. It was fantastic. Not only was the food tremendous, the narrative added to the appreciation of the presentation, Kind of made it taste even better. Like performance (loud) exhaust on a Porsche. The sake was super good. Again we have never tasted such good sake and we have been all over the world, including Japan. You just have to do this. Plenty of food, but you do not go away feeling bloated . the beer selection is good and the sake is not so alcoholic that you feel compromised. The green tea is good too. The location is excellent, just two blocks from Union Square, 14th Street subway with a large book store near by for early arrivals. The seating is conducive to meeting new friends, always interesting. The group was small enough including several New Yorkers that contributed ideas concerning "The City". Too often you go to a highly rated restaurant and drink and eat too much and go away feeling like you had sex without the foreplay. Not here, you savor every morsel and every moment. And it is affordable and a bargain. Our next trip to New York will definitely include this event. One other thing, you gain a knowledge of Japanese food that will make visits to sushi bars in other places more rewarding.
Many thanks to the organizers of this event. |

| This is the second tour we have gone on with this company. As with the first, this was most enjoyable and we will plan others in the future. Raheem was so personable! |
