| I do a similar type of educational session & tasting with beer as part of my job.
I told my son that the fact that our host spoke for 2 1/2 hours and was constantly informing us with pertinent in interesting information was way above the curve on presentations like this.
Highly recommend |

| Our leader was enthusiastic and well-informed which made for an entertaining evening. The restaurant served perfect portions of tasty tapas and sushi. We feasted with our eyes, palettes and learned a lot. Several tapas were memorable and the sake was premium grade. Thanks! |

| If you're a sushi lover this event is a must! The food itself is outstanding, but the real treat is the extensive knowledge of the host. The in depth detailed descriptiveness given to each item brought in front of us was mind blowing. Where's the book? I highly recommend this for any anyone, whether it is a large group or a couple you'll have a blast. |

| My husband and I found the tour to be great fun. We really enjoyed the food and the tour guide's explanation of Japanese tradition was very informative. We would definitely recommend the tour to others. |

| We have never had good sushi until our visit here. It was fantastic. Not only was the food tremendous, the narrative added to the appreciation of the presentation, Kind of made it taste even better. Like performance (loud) exhaust on a Porsche. The sake was super good. Again we have never tasted such good sake and we have been all over the world, including Japan. You just have to do this. Plenty of food, but you do not go away feeling bloated . the beer selection is good and the sake is not so alcoholic that you feel compromised. The green tea is good too. The location is excellent, just two blocks from Union Square, 14th Street subway with a large book store near by for early arrivals. The seating is conducive to meeting new friends, always interesting. The group was small enough including several New Yorkers that contributed ideas concerning "The City". Too often you go to a highly rated restaurant and drink and eat too much and go away feeling like you had sex without the foreplay. Not here, you savor every morsel and every moment. And it is affordable and a bargain. Our next trip to New York will definitely include this event. One other thing, you gain a knowledge of Japanese food that will make visits to sushi bars in other places more rewarding.
Many thanks to the organizers of this event. |

I'm sure I'll only retain a tiny fraction of what we learned as we ate our way through several courses of Japanese fare. The host, Raheem, was a wealth of knowledge about preparation, customs, tastes, history, and trends in this cuisine, all delivered with a high level of enthusiasm and delight to be sharing with us.
The only negative aspect of our experience was the unfortunate attendance by a woman and her two adult daughters, all of whom chattered away like magpies, rudely ignoring the host and making it hard for the rest of us to hear what he was saying. Amazingly, he maintained his good humor throughout, never once speaking harshly to them (I wouldn't have been able to restrain myself), but instead directing his voice more toward the rest of us who were listening.
A unique tour/dinner...highly recommended. |

| This activity was both delicious and worthwhile for me, and my family. It allowed us to taste a wide variety of types of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes, as well as beer and sakes, that we would not otherwise have been adventurous enough to order, since it is such an intimidating experience to order a meal comprising components with which you are totally unfamiliar. I have frequently found that the fish other than tuna, and even tuna on fairly frequent occassions, at Japanese restaurants tastes"fishy". Having a meal of such high quality fish presented to me, so that there was not fishiness whatsoever (except in several pieces of the squid) was wonderfully empowering. I will, in the future, feel comfortable complaining about the quality of what I am being served, and will also be comfortable ordering a wider variety of species of fish, knowing that they should not taste fishy. In addition, the price, although higher than an average meal in a Japanese restaurant, was affordable enough that it is very likely that I/we will repeat the tour. One more plus was that we were taught about the history and the properties of the foods we were eating by a very charming "guide" who shepherded us through the 2+ hour meal. |
