Highly recommended overview of a historic 'hood
Sun, Jun 8, 08   12:30 PM bretami Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We are so glad we booked the "Greenwich Village" food tour for our recent weekend trip to NY. Our tour guide was a knowledgeable, eccentric and lively asset to the this tour in which we made our way through the little known side streets and specialty food stores. Mike was no "amatuer". He is a 22 year local of the the Village and a native to the New York area. The passion he feels toward this rich area is shown in the detail of his colorful stories and the care in which he describes their "delicacies" (olive oil, balsamic, bread, PIZZA, thai dumplings, cheese, cookies, rice balls, etc). You will not be sorry that you took 3 hours to get to know the area as a local would (vs your typical tourist style "drive by") and you certainly will feel as if you've gotten your money's worth. Can't wait until the next trip so we can try out another tour!

Great Experience

My husband and I were on our second visit to New York to visit our daughter and she found out about the tour on the internet. We loved learning more about the history of the neighborhood, theatre, restaurants and homes. The weather was extremely warm but our guide did everything and more to make it a pleasant experience. We will recommend the tour to our friends.

A Hot, but Good Time
Sun, Jun 8, 08   12:00 PM kensiebert Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We chose the hottest day NYC has seen on this date in about 30 years, and walking around in the sun was brutal. Our guide, Marie, was very sensitive to our plight and provided shade, water and air-conditioning on a regular basis throughout the afternoon. Thanks, Marie! The food tastings were delicious; the information interesting and informative. Can't wait to come back and try some of the recommended restaurants. We had a great time, but were very grateful to climb into an air-conditioned cab and head back to our hotel afterwards. Would recommend this walk to friends and family visiting the city.

Great way to spend 3 hours

Just to say we came over from London & did the Meat Packing food tasting tour with guide Sam. It was a fun tour very informative & Sam obviously enjoys his guiding he related to us all personally & spent just the right amount of time in each place. I think these tours are definitely made better by the enthusiasm of the guide and would thoroughly recommend it to all ages. I was there with my daughter who just turned 21 & she enjoyed it as much as I did.

Great way to see the Village

Our group of 3 couples had a great afternoon! It was nearly 100 degrees when we began our noon tour, but our tour guide Marie was all about "shade and hydration", and getting us into air conditioned places as much as possible. The tastings were all great (there were 8) and the neighborhood info was the best. Guides show you around, and let you know not only the history of the area, but what's happening today. A great primer so you may go back and try little places that you may never have otherwise know about, and also a way to feel more comfortable & to know your way around a little better in the area of the city that isn't "gridded" like up-town.We will be back to do more tours, and to check out some of the restaraunts in the area. Highly recommended!

great tour and great food!

This was an excellent tour and Amy,our guide, was the best! It was extremely hot and the different vendors were nice enough to let us sample their food inside in the air conditioning. At the Aromatics shoppe, Joanne (the owner) had made an iced jar of lemon, peppermint and lavender oils and water for us to dip a paper towel in and wipe our faces and neck to cool off. It was the best! Amy was extremely knowledgable regarding the architecture and real estate of the area and kept the tour interesting. Even in the heat, the time flew right by-I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone!

Our tour guide, Amy, provided so much interesting information about the area and all the food tastings were teriffic. The pace was comfortable. The tour makes you want to plan your next New York outing in Greenwich Village. This is a tour that would appeal to anyone interested in food or the culture and architecture of the area. I highly recommend it!

I found it very interesting and a great selection of tastings. I went with my husband, 2 teenage daughters and another family of 4. We are all native New Yorkers and we all enjoyed it immensely. I would not recommend the tour for younger kids. This is our second food tour with this company. We went on the Chelsea market/meatpacking district tour last year and loved that as well.

Great tour - but maybe not with kids!

We took our 13 year old son on a very hot day. The walking and standing in the sun was too much for him. Our guide was terrific, the food was incredible and we learned so much - but it wasn't a highlight for my boy!

The food was not as good as I expected and lacked diversity. However, the tour guide was very entertaining and told interesting stories.

Great Recommendations on Greenwich Village Dining!

We really enjoyed our tour! Our tourguide (Barri) was very professional and knowledgeable. On a day when NYC was experiencing record heat, she did a great job of keeping us hydrated by stopping regularly for water. She always accommodated our needs. The food was good - nothing extraordinary - but the Olive Oil shop & Cheese store were highlights. If you are a lover of learning about new places to eat, and exploring small historic communities, this is the tour for you. We really did enjoy and would recommend! In fact, we went back the next day and had lunch at one of the recommended restaurants and it was fabulous!

Great tour! Don't be put off by 3 hrs of walking - we covered a small area of the West Village: Bleeker St and the Landmark District. Very interesting achitecture and historical information...and appetizing. Food samples were delicious. Would definitely return to the area. Looking forward to the other tours offered in Chelsea & SoHo. Tour guide was superb!
