At first, walking in the rain eating food through a plastic raincoat doesn't sound all that appealing, but oh my god - this tour is fantastic. Even though it was raining - We loved the stories, commentary, jokes and food knowledge of our guide (Mike). He had something for everyone and was a wealth of knowledge not only on the food, but also the local surroundings, people and places. I would highly recommend this tour to not only tourists, but all New Yorkers to learn a little something about the well hidden secrets of Greenwich Village that are worth discovering. The only problem is that you just need to allow an extra 2 weeks after the tour to do it all again at a slower pace to take in all the menus, cuisines, and discover the places for yourself. Thanks for a great tour and I hope to be back soon to do it all again! |

Michael was wonderfully fun and informative. In spite of unseasonable rain and cold on 8/10/07 we had a wonderful time. He truly shared his love of Greenwich Village and many of the nooks and crannies of the area that we otherwise would have never known about. I have already told our friends who travel to New York frequently about the tour and I am certain they will take my recommendation. They always do. Thank you so much. Especially loved "Milk and Cookies".

I thought it was very interesting, but I didn't think the brochure explained very well what it really was. I was expecting to eat more or eat more along the way. We had a little taste then walked a lot and ate at the end. I think it should be clearer that you are getting a history of the village and then have some tastes along the way. It was way more historical than tasting. Our guide was good, but she wasn't very good at keeping the tour moving. She allowed too many questions that were personal to the person asking and not really about the tour and applicable to the group. We did go back later though and fell in love with Greenwich on the tour. |

This tour gives you two things: 1) tastes of local food 2) some history of the Village
I would probably have walked right by most of these restaurants/shops so getting the local scoop on them gave me a better appreciation for the food/shops and a desire to go back again to try the restaurants and browse the shops. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had some great stories about the Village. I think the tour could be cut down by about a 1/2 hour. |

Tour was very interesting and combined a few food samples and lots of talk about the history and culture of Greenwich Village. Barrie was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable about the area as he has been there for many years. The day we were there it was the hottest, muggiest day of the summer. Unfortunately we had to leave the tour an hour early (our choice) because of this extreme heat. I would like to try the tour again the next time I visit NYC when the weather is cooler. |

Great food and interesting information about the place. The only recommendation I would make is to allow for some selection of choices by the audience. Ice cream instead of milk would have been a nice choice for those that don't drink milk. But overall great time. |

We were a group of five - 2 of us in our fifties and 3 of us in our twenties. We all agreed we had a fabulous time, enjoying the food, stories and background. Wish we could make it back for the reopening of Chumley's! And, although there was no pressure, we did return to a couple of stops to make purchases. |

Liked the tour very much. It was an extremely hot day - only drawback.. The food was very good- The cookie from "Milk and Cookies" was the best I have ever had! The tour leader was very knowledgeable about the food, the history of the restaurants and the history of Greenwich Village. |

I think this tour can be vastly improved from the one we took. Our guide was excellent, but the tour was poorly arranged. As we seemed to cover only a few block area, I think the tastings could have been arranged better. To have a sweet cookie and then go to a cheese/olive tasting was in the wrong order. You should try to arrange the tastings in better order.
I thought the tour would encompass various ethnic groups in the tastings, and not just Italian. If we could have gone to Chinatown and Little Italy, it would have been more meaningful. Maybe this is a suggestion to Zerve to organize a tour of that type, perhaps adding a Jewish deli. Eating on the run on the busy streets (although explained in the tour brochure) was not appealing to me. I did enjoy sitting down upstairs for the cheese/olive/crackers part.
Most visitors to New York City are only there for a short time, as I was. Knowing about all the different restaurants there was not very helpful to me, as I wasn't coming back to Greenwich Village just to eat. I wanted to see another part of New York and eat at a restaurant there (for example, going to Central Park to the Tavern on the Green).
I also took the Brooklyn Pizza Tour and thought it was excellent. This tour could be much better organized and I would be willing to try it again on future trips to New York City.

We had a fabulous guide. It was truely one of the top highlights of our NYC trip. We fell in love with the Village and spent much time taking the subway there to eat, etc. |
