Yummy and Enlightening

Our tour guide, Cindy, was warm, enthusiastic, and full of knowledge about the foods, restaurants and other vendors, and the neighborhood. All the food samples were delicious. I'm from NYC originally but have lived on the West Coast for 35 years and was in NY on vacation with a friend who'd not been in NYC before. Both of us had a wonderful time, and I can attest that it was a real "taste of NY" in many ways! I highly recommend this urban adventure as fun and educational, and very well run by FoodTours (and Cindy!).

A Great New York Experience

We enjoyed the tour of Bleeker Street so much that we are going to take the other tours offered by Zerve. We go to the city on a regular basis but never thought of taking a walking tour. Our tour guide was very informative and a pleasure to walk with. After the tour was over we walked the area and enjoyed the restaurants and shops - bought the best olive oil, Italian sausage and cheese. As a result of the walking tour we are more informed about the area and will be going back soon. The tour guide made the walk exciting due to her knowledge of the city and her great personality. We received the tour as a gift and think it is a great gift to give.

My friend was visiting from Texas, and having never visited the northeast, I thought he would enjoy a trip to the city. I found out about these tours while researching things to do in the city online and found that the Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural tour was quite popular... and with good reason. We began our tour with a stop at the best pizza place Ever. Throughout the tour we also stopped at an olive oil store, a meat specialty shop with divine rice balls of delight, a cheese shop, a cookie shop, another pizza place, a Thai restaurant, and bakery. All of the food was delicious and you definitely won't leave hungry. We also learned about the culture and history of Greenwich Village. You will learn quite a bit about the architecture in the area, which I found to be fascinating. There are many unique buildings and stories to go with them. My friend's favorite spot was an underground room with colorful lights and a quaint stage for performance art. This tour is definitely something you can't miss while you are visiting New York. I plan to take my friends back to the area and show them what I have learned. It was a great experience.

We recently spent a week in New York. We had a great time and there were many highlights. The Greenwhich Village Foodies Walking tour my husband and I did with Kurt was, definitely in our top 5 activities. The criteria was: what would you go right back and do again? Kurt knew how to quickly build rapport with every person in the group, and kept the pace cracking and the fun up. We had lots of great food samples and met like-minded people from geographically dispersed places with similar interests to us. I have already recommended this tour to foodies who appreciate the good things in life like wonderful architecture, a pleasant walk, and light-hearted New York history . Thank you. There's much more to New York than Times Square

Having only been to New York for a brief visit once previously we needed a confidence builder to help us get out of the usual museum, harbour tour and Central Park rut. The Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural Tour was exactly what the doctor ordered. Our tour guide was personable, knowledgeable and funny; taking the time to learn each of our names and making us feel at ease. We visited a good cross-section of restaurants in the area, tasted some delicious samples and we were even introduced to some of the owners of the restaurants and shops we stopped at. In addition to the food tour, we also walked some of the quaint and winding backstreets to absorb some "Village" culture. In the final evaluation, this tour was one of the highlights of our week in New York. We became familiar with an interesting area of the city that was previously unknown to us, and perhaps the most revealing measure of success was that we returned to the "Village" on two subsequent evenings to dine at a couple of the numerous restaurants in the area.

I had so much fun on this walking tour through Greenwich Village. It gave me the opportunity to see how New Yorkers live and eat...plus, we saw some of the sites of NYC. Our guide, Ed, was excellent. He was so much fun and so informative. The foods we sampled along the way were delicious. I would recommend this tour to anyone, whether they be from out of town, or those locals that have never walked through the Village.

The tour guide was really entertaining and knew plenty about the area and history. He also managed to learn the whole group's names within minutes! I really wish I'd done the tour at the beginning of my stay in New York as it would have been great to try some of ther places we visited for a full meal.

like to experience the foods and culture of Greenwich Village. Our tour guide was very informative and it was lots of fun tasting the different foods. The area is fun to explore because the buildings are very old and quaint.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Greenwich Village tour and thought it was more fun than the advertising led us to expect. The guide was excellent, and we learned a lot.

Our tour guide was good. Very personable and had a few good stories that helped it remain interesting. The food samples were average and really not that interesting-except, perhaps, the true NY pizza mini-slice that was thin and crisp. Plus the tour didn't contain enough actual cultural or historical information to make up for the low-end food samples. I felt that we paid $50 each for free samples at Costco. I love historical walking tours that I've taken in London, Montreal, Santa Fe, and Quebec City. I hoped that the added food focus would be more exciting since we are interested in food. Sorry, can't recommend this to my friends.

This tour was great. I loved the city and all the information taught on the tour. We ate a lot of good food on the tour so go hungry. The tour guide was very knowledgable and fun. I cannot imagine a better way to see the city and experience some of the best foods.

Without a doubt, the best tour we have taken. Not sure if all the guides are equally as talented, but Michael made this extremely interesting and loads of fun. We had been concerned that the lengh of the tour was a bit long, but the time just flew by and we truly enjoyed every minute. The food was really good - along with some usual - but exceptionally good pizza - we also tried unique dishes that truly made us wish we had open evenings for dinner. As other reviewers have noted, it's a good idea to do this at the beginning of your trip rather than the end so you have time to go back and enjoy even more. And I have to admit, although I'm not much of a history buff, Michael's knowledge and excellent stories as we strolled through the area made for an exciting and fascinating look at Greenwich Village. Quite honestly, by the end of the tour, I think most of us were ready to chuck our jobs and find some way to become a part of this varied and unique community. Hats off to Michael - this was a real highlight of our visit to NYC!!!
