I took my mother on the Greenwich Village Food and Cultural Tour as a birthday gift. She was absolutely thrilled, as was I. We have been to New York many times, but always avoided the Village - we were intimidated by the confusing streets, and by the fact that we simply didn't know where to go or how to navigate. After this tour, we can't wait to go back. Our guide, Barry, was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun! We learned a lot about the history and architecture of the area, and got a good feel for places we'd like to visit again. The food was outstanding. The tour included the best slice of pizza I have ever eaten, as well as cheeses, pastries, olives, bread, cookies, candy, and more. We also visited an old speakeasy, and the most charming restaurant with private room I have ever seen. The walk is the perfect length, and combines the right balance of walking, stopping, and eating. My one bit of advice is that you should not eat breakfast before the tour. There is simply so much food on this walk that there is no way you can eat it all if you have eaten beforehand.
Whether this is your first visit to New York or your fiftieth, you should include this tour on your agenda. It is one of the most enjoyable things we have done in the city. Many of the streets are off the beaten path - you almost forget you are in New York! An added bonus is the packet distributed at the start of the tour - it includes helpful information, restaurant recommendations, coupons, and a map. Take this tour - it's a great bargain and it's something you won't soon forget! |

Jenny, our guide was terrific. This was our first time in NYC, and we learned so much about Greenwich Village that we came back the next day and ate breakfast, lunch and had Amy's Breads pack us a boxed meal for our train ride back home to Virginia. We also took home pastrys from Roccos and went back to the Herb shop and bought some items as well.
We would have never known about all the delightful places in GV had we not taken the tour. I've already recommended it to a friend that's visiting NYC next month.
I would definately would do this tour (or one like it) again.
Thanks!!!! |

Don't miss the culinary walking tour of Greenwich Village for a highly interesting and tasty three hours. You won't need lunch afterwards so the trip is great value. Wear comfortable shoes though as there is a fair amount of walking - this is part of the fun but it might not be quite so good if you have high heels on. |

This was a nice tour, our guide Mike was wonderful! The tour is compose of some walking, alot of standing & listening and some food thrown in. I must say that I was expecting something different. The stories Mike told were very interesting and he is very knowledgable as well as very personable. I was looking forward to more info on the food, the bakeries, deli's etc. not so much on the history of buidlings and such. I should have taken the Chelsea Market tour rather than this one. My error. Everyone is our group seemed to enjoy themselves and the food we sampled was excellant!!!! One thing I would I liked to been informed of in the tour description is the amount of time you would spend standing, the walking I have no trouble with, but just standing aggrevates an old knee injury, alittle over 2 hours into the tour & I had to leave due to my knee swelling. I spent the rest of my visit to NYC walking through other neighborhoods and areas and had no problem. If you have any problems standing for periods of time 10-15 mins at a time this is not for you. My sister & mother enjoyed this tour also and they both were thrilled with our guide and the food. Maybe it was just a bad day for me as most of the reviews on this tour are excellent. All in all I did have a good time and the Village is a wonderful place to visit. |

I am surprised by the endless amount of fun this city offers and your tour showed me a part of the city I was not very familiar with. After spending the afternoon with your EXCELLENT tour guide and my fun group I will definitely be back to Greenwich Village. The food tasting was a lot of fun and everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try out some of my favorites from the tour. Thanks! |

This is a great activity for tourists and locals. I've lived in NYC for 3 years and still learned so much about a fascinating area of the city. My family visiting from out of town loved it too. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting. A great thing to do when entertaining visitors.

Susan was a really great tour guide and very helpful. We thought it was a bit too long. After 2 1/2 hours we were ready to end. The tour really familiarized us with the village. There was a lot of standing, if you provided somewhere to sit and rest while the tour guide was speaking it may have been better. On the whole , however, we would do it again. We are planning to do the sister tour in the near future. |

The tour is 3 hrs long because it includes a neighborhood tour and walks through various streets. While this is interesting in its own right, I was really only interested in learning about and trying different foods. We actually didn't get to try alot of the foods but walked through a bunch of restaurants just to "look at it" and I thought this made the diners in there feel awkward as well as myself as part of a tour group. I think if it focused solely on food, and there were more samples to taste, then it would be worth the $40 ticket I paid. |

We loved this tour. There were four of us ranging from age 40-60. The market itself is super but having a guide to educate us made it all the better. Cindy was Super!!!! She was very organized, friendly and funny. We loved her! The tastings were great! We loved the "meat packing district" so much that we spent a couple of days there. We had dinner and wine at two of Cindy's recommendations. We also went back to the market and purchased food to cook dinner in our apartment one evening. We will be back and we will also recommend this tour to friends. |

The entire experience was fantastic! I drove a cab in NY, and was still impressed with the depth and breadth of knowledge shown by our guide. She was enthusiastic, informative, fun, and highly attentive. A definite recommendation for natives, tourists, and even anyone visiting from New Jersey. |
