Great Tour with a Great Guide
Thu, Apr 6, 06   11:30 AM cfindlay1 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
While it was great fun to taste the treats on the Grennwich Tour, the tour guide we had (Mike) made the event a wonderful experience. The tour was rich in the history of the neighborhood and NY in general. Mike was a great storyteller with a story about each tasting spot and many others that we passed. We noticed that many locals knew Mike and often greeted him as we passed them. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

More New York in 3 Hours Than All Week!

This was the best money we spent while in New York...and surprisingly the best deal for the money. We not only heard about New York's history but we EXPERIENCED it as well. Our guide, Kurt, was fun and friendly and very informed. He made every bakery, restaurant, garden and store come alive with culture from the architecture to the people...and the food was GREAT!!! This is a tour we'll be taking every time we visit. Thanks!

Really liked it, but might throw a glass of wine or a beer in, along with maybe some fries or something from 86 bedford. My husband is a med size guy and he could have eaten quite a bit more w/o stuffing himself.

Great Introduction to "the Vilage"
Wed, Apr 5, 06   11:00 AM Eisteddfod Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This was a great introduction to the Village by a native New Yorker. We were led through a wide variety of eateries from NY's best pizza joint to a former speak-easy, none of which we would have been able to find had we attempted a tour on our own. The guide was well-informed and gave plenty of historical background. And there were ample samples at each port of call, so no need for lunch afterwards. One of the most useful aspects was that at the end of the walk we were handed a list of stores/outlets in the Village, so that we were able to return a few days later and enjoy at leisure some of the delights we'd only sampled on the tour. I'll recommend the walk to friends and I've kept the list for use next time I'm in NY and have a craving for fresh canoli.

an excellent, fun and informative tour, we really enjoyed it, we we went back to the Home Restaurant, Chumleys and both patisseries over the next few days. We loved Greenwich village and following the tour would probably opt to stay in the area if we return to New York. We would recommend to friends. Our guide was Jewish thespian with mad hair, name lost in fog of jet lag but great fun. Thank you

On April 4, 2006, I decided to take the tour. Our tour guide Cindy was Awesome! She is full of energy, knowledge and she feeds you! Too bad she's married! LOL! I highly recommend this tour, the food is DELICIOUS and it's all within 4-5 blocks. From cheese to pastries, you will NOT go home hugry! And you will definitely learn something.

Everyone in our group loved the tour!

Our group of eight women friends, thoroughly enjoyed the Greenwich Village tour. Our tour guide,Kurt was great. He was very informative, entertaining and keep our group moving along. The three hours went very quickly. We had plenty of delicious food to eat: Pizza, cheeses, olives, cookies, candy, canolis, and lamb in a pita with delicious sauces . We even cancelled our dinner reservations, since we could not begin to think of eating again at 5 o'clock. They also supply you with a great reference sheet of names, phone numbers and addresses of restaurants and businesses in the village, which will be great to have for future trips into the city. Thanks!!!!!!! We will certainly spead the word about this fun experience.

New Yorker learns a lot....

I am a New Yorker...my girlfriend is from Florida. When she visits NY, we make it a habit of visiting NY's finest eateries...many of which are in the Village. Our tour guide, Barri, opened our eyes to many exciting food venues that we did not know existed. When she returns in 2 weeks, we already have several eating establishments on our itinerary, plus some historical sites to re-visit...thanks to Barri.

This was an fascinating and well thought out tour which I would highly recommend. Make sure you try and do this tour very early on in your trip as you will want to come back on your own to eat at all the places visited! Our guide was very knowledgable on the area and was obviously a local as he seemed to know most of the people we crossed on the street. The tour included a look in a number of establishments sampling the wares of quite a few, and also information on the general history and culture of the area. I would recommend having a very light breakfast before the tour (if any at all) and don't make any plans for lunch!

Our tour covered a relatively small area centred on Bleecker Street, so we didn't cover miles but both felt that both the design of the tour and the way it was delivered were good. The structure of the tour correctly took into account that you can't just wander from store to store nibbling their wares for three hours, so the diversion into the history of the West Village was a useful change of pace. The only criticism I'd make is that it may well have been possible to orient the tastings away from generic foods, available anywhere, such as Pizza or Falafel or Doner Kebab. Frankly no matter how good the West Village versions of these are, they aren't going to be much different or better than what you find anywhere, and the best Pizza by the slice in New York really isn't much different from any other Pizza the world over. The more idiosyncratic foods ( and merchants) were infinitely more interesting and in my view should be featured more strongly.

This tour is a wonderful combination of Greenwich Village history, culture and food. I am sure that we heard and learned things that one could only hear on this kind of a tour. Our guide was superb--his knowledge, present and past, of the area was vast. He was informative, entertaining and interesting--he also seemed genuinely interested in his group. I am looking forward to our next trip. Thanks.

When are we going on the Chelsea Market tour?

We had a blast, our tour guide, Curt, was awesome! He knew the area very well and kept us entertained with little "tid bits" of information that we would have never found out on our own. I had bought this tour for one of my close friends for Christmas and she later told me that it was the best gifts I have ever given her in the 8 years of our friendship! We have made plans to do the Chelsea Market tour sometime in June and plan on inviting 2 other friends to come along. Thank you so much for this awesome experience and we will see you again!!!

This tour was the highlight of our weekend in NYC. Our tour guide (Michael) was absolutely wonderful--he was pleasant and fun, very informative and obviously enjoyed sharing his experiences and stories of Greenwich Village with the tour group. The food tastings were all very good as well. We recommend leaving time after the tour to further explore the area and try some of the restaurants and shops discussed during the tour. We had a little time to do that, but could have spent the whole day.

Wonderful and extremely informative
Sun, Apr 2, 06   11:30 AM npbag1 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The tour guide was tremendously knowledgeable about the history of the area. I thought it was particularly beneficial to have someone who has lived in Greenwich Village for many years and could tell anecdotal stories of which he had personal knowledge. Many residents, who knew our guide, greeted us as we wandered through the area. The food was overall great with a very nice variety of ethnic foods known as specialties in Greenwich Village. It was obvious that our tour guide (Michael) was devoted to the area and committed to giving our group a wonderful experience. I have been to New York many times but this was my first official tour of Greenwich Village and I was not disappointed. Our guide was not rushed and in fact spent a fair amount of additional time with the group so he could thoroughly cover all the information. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to New York whether it is your first trip or not. The weather was great, the group sympatico and the guide great!
