Cindy was an excellent guide and a lot of fun. She has a wonderfully warm personality that makes you feel you'll be friends forever. The food was fantastic! Worth every penny. The places we visited were all warm and neighborly - the type of establishments that have been there a hundred years and you hope will continue for centuries. Thank you for an excellent afternoon and great memories.

We loved it, all the tastings and the history and seeing areas we may never of looked into. Our guide was just great and seemed to love her job and took such great care of us. Thank you very much, we will try another one when we visit again in a couple of years. Kindest Regards, Liz Kane It was definitely lunch and a bit more!

Lots of fun and a great way to learn about Chelsea Market and the neighborhood. The food tastings were so filling - we didnt eat lunch and had only a small dinner.

Our tour leader was Mike -- at least that's the name on the packages he received. We were in the 11:30 group on Dec. 24th. He was a long-term resident of the Village, very well informed, well-spoken, humerous, entertaining, and interesting. We learned a great deal more about the area than I ever thought it contained - and I grew up in NYC. The food was fine, and well distributed throughout the 3 hours -- which didn't seem like a very long time at all -- another kudo for our leader. In short, the tour was very worthwhile, and I'd recommend it to anyone -- except parents with small children who wouldn't generally find any tour interesting where they'd spend most of their time among lots of legs.

I enjoyed the tour very much. I have also taken the Greenwich tour and I've loved them both. I would recommend this one for the cooler weather. or when nyc weather is not as nice because you get to spend more time indoors. It is great for tourists and locals to get to know the neighborhood. I love being able to taste so many foods from many wonderful establishments.

Fun entertaining way to spend a few hours

Guide was excellent. Enthusiastic, knowlegdable and very funny. A good intro to the market and the neighborhood. I always like learning anything new about a building and its history. I was a bit disappointed, however, that there wasn't more of a look "behind the scenes." I am from New York City and have been to Chelsea Market many times since it first opened. I thought the tour would provide an opportunity to go beyond where regular customers go--to go into the bakeries, for example, and learn about the machines used, etc. with demonstrations. With one exception (when we went in the back of the lobster place), I didn't need a tour to show me the shops. Also, I don't think the description included that the tour went outside around the market. Again, I know the area and I've been to the surrounding restaurants and hotel several times before. I would recommend the tour, however, to people from outside the area. Thank you.

Even NYC residents enjoy this 3 hour feasting and walking tour! My friend and I met two NYC residents who had taken both the Greenwich Village and the Meatpacking tour with Eric and thoroughly enjoyed each tour. This adventure is the perfect combination of feasting on varied taste treats from the Chelsea Market to "inside trivia and tips" about the building, the tenants, the family-owned companies, the restaurants, the past, present and future of the Meatpacking district, a local B n B and more. Your best advertisement is word-of-mouth; I learned about the tour from a colleague and I will be sharing the information gleaned with my colleagues............... Great tour, guide and concept! Tour is FANTASTIC!!!

This was my third food tour in 2 years, having come with my mom and godson this time. Everyone had a great time, and Barri did a fabulous job taking us around and incorporatingthe history of the area into each tasting. The only complaint I have-- and it is a sincere one, since this venue is always featured on your tour-- is that the employees at JOE'S PIZZA ( the best thin-crust pizza, for sure) were consistently and exaggeratedly RUDE and unhelpful upon my return to their store for another pie. It is unfortunate that a place that produces such fantastic crust for their pie gets SUCH repeated advertisement when their people are about as helpful as a hole in your shoe. This time, I feel a great deal less compassion for the place with regards to their rent and corporate competitors issue (a topic that is always raised by the guides) and wish their competitors well. Just thought you all should know, in case the smallest bit of courtesy makes a difference to your perceptions--you will get NONE here. But as far as the tour itself goes: Barri was great, and so were the choices on the tour, especially Rocco's and Murrays. The only addition I could suggest would be to have included some sort of holiday specialties, just since it was a couple days before Christmas, and I'm sure there must be some wonderful things in the village...Thank you for showing us around so well. Visiting Friends in the Village
Wed, Dec 20, 06   11:30 AM melissacampb Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour felt as though I was being shown the village by a knowledgeable friend who had lived there for years. The intimate restaurants, private gardens, and hidden night spots were fabulous places I would have never found on my own. It showed me a unique fascinating part of New York I hoped existed but hadn't experienced and has changed the way I feel about the city. I can't wait to come back!! As other parts of the country become a homogenized blend of Home Depots, Targets, Best Buys, and Applebees, this tour reminded me of what a special place NYC is!!!

The Best Thing We Did on Vacation

We saw the food tour in the NYC Guidebook and decided to give it a try. It was the best thing we did during our time in NYC. Kurt, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable about Greenwhich Village, as well as other items in New York. He directed us to some great places to shop, dine, and hear jazz. The tour itself was a great way to see the Village; it was a nice break from the rat race of the city.

My family and I were in New York recently and we had the pleasure of attending the "Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural Tour" led by the enthusiastic Curt. We learned more about the history, architecture and food offerings of the Village than we thought possible in a 3 hour tour. Curt could not have been a more informative tour guide and I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a truly unique New York experience.

Great Food and Historical Information

Food samplings throughout the village and even one gave us insight into a family restaurant owner's home and garden area. Good variety and good information - will come back to this area first if we are ever able to return to New York again.

Everything about this tour was great! The guide, the food, the restaurants, the shops, and even the other people on the tour. For a poor college student on vacation, this was money well spent!

We had a wonderful tour guide who knew a great deal about the area and recommended some great restaurants for dinner. The tour itself was fun and provided a large amount of food, not to mention, excellent food. The places, food, buildings, absolutely everything exceeded our already high expectations. You will not regret this tour!!!
