Great way to spend an afternoon in NYC!

I have done this tour twice - once with a group of coworkers and again with my wife. I liked it so much the first time that I wanted my wife to have the opportunity to enjoy it as well. The guides are great, the food is plentiful, unique and quality, and the location is quite interesting. I would highly recommend this affordable addition to anyone visiting New York with an interest in the Village, food or both.

I picked this activity for my group of friends on the recommendation of my children's school librarian and we were not disappointed. Our guide was very informative with personality plus. Everyone agreed it was worth the time and money.

My Thoughts

Overall, I loved the tour. I am like sponge and I enjoy the history and gaining some useful knowledge about the area. I thought the foods were good but what I thought was that it was going to be more lunch type of foods as oppose to appetizers and desserts. I felt that way because I was informed that you would not be hungry for lunch. I was not hungry for lunch but I did not feel like I ate a lunch. Otherwise, we had a great time and the weather was great. Please let me know when the SOHO tour is established. Sue Polikoff

Too long and too little

My brother and sisters and husband went on the Chelsea food tasting tour and were disappointed. While the tour guide was funny and informative, the tour was too long, (3hrs.) and the tasting too little. The most annoying thing about it was that you were not allowed to purchase anything in the shops until AFTERthe 3HR tour that ends down the street from the market! I don't know about you but I feel that "tourists" are basically impulse buyers and if they have to wait 2 hrs and walk a couple of blocks to go back to what they thought they wanted, most people would talk themselves out of it. I would have probably bought something in every shop we went to but as a result I bought nothing. Something to think about.

Well Worth It

My husband and I were celebrating our 10th Anniversary and thought we'd do some of our favorite things. Walk, Eat and Learn. This tour of Greenwhich Village did all this and more. Our guide (whose name was Michael...last name Clark I believe) was priceless. He had humor, he had wit, and he knew a wealth of info about the area. The food tasting was excellent, the cultural info intriguing and the day was memorable. Now, we will know exactly which restaurants to go to for all of our subsequent anniversaries. (and the backstory as well.) When I spoke with a friend who had gone on this tour, she had expressed concern that our guide wouldn't be as good as her's was. Personally I think ours was better...but she found that hard to imagine...so it gives you an idea of the caliber people FoodsofNY works with. Muchos Kudos. We'll defintely go again, and bring our out-of-town guests as well.

I was extremely impressed with this tour, it was the highlight of my 5 day trip to New York City. The tour guide Kirk was an amazing person with a wealth of knowledge and fun facts about Greenwich village & NYC...Kirk gave us lots of NYC tourist tips and shopping tips as well. He made the tour 100% more enjoyable than it already would have been without him im sure. It is defenitly not just a food tasting tour..you learn soo much in 3 hours its overwhelming! And the food...I had to start wrapping my food up in napkins because i was full from eating and eating and eating..it was defenitly more than just little tastings...and you certainly shouldnt eat much before you go, and there is no need for lunch after the tour!! I have only been home for 48 hours and i think ive already reccomended this tour to 6 or 7 people who are taking trips to NYC in the future. Fantastic experience!! Thank you so much, you guys made our trip!! Cheers from Canada:)

This was the best way to learn about a neighborhood. Our guide Kurt was not only very informative about the hidden treasures of the neighborhood but had great style in his presentation - factual and fun. The time flew by and the tastings were delicious and constant. I can't wait to do another neighborhood tour with this company. Highly recommended. Do it!

Was introduced to stores we never would have found. Great handout and funny guide. We loved Greenwich so much we went back and tried one of the restaurants and bought cookies and coffee beans to bring home. We are already planning to return and stay closer to enjoy it even more. Thank you for your great tour.

The history and inside character of the neighborhood was great to hear -- especially from someone who clearly had so much of a connection to it. The food was excellent -- I just wish I'd had more time to stay and dine at more of the places!

My husband didn't know how much he wanted to go on this touring with me, but the remainder of the day following the tour, he couldn't quit talking about how great it was. This tour was an entertaining history lesson on top of getting to try yummy foods all over the village.

More history than food

This was a good tour, but we learned more about the history of the district than we did tasting food. I would have preferred to go to more food establishments that were willing to give samples. I enjoyed the tour, nevertheless, and would recommend it.

Our Village Tour was fun & informative. The guide was knowledgeable & kept up a good pace. My only complaint was having to eat outside at some of the establishments such as Rocco's & Faicco's. They could get a bench or folding chairs or let the people inside for just a few minutes. Eating the samples outside in the freezing cold is not pleasant. Other than that, it was very enjoyable.
