Best way to get to know the area

| Best way to know the area and its culinary delights. We did the Village and SoHo tour last year, which we preferred as it had a bit more about the history of the village and the food was more ethnic but we loved this one too. We would definitely do another one when we are back in NYC and I have recommended it to 3 other friends who are visiting in November. | ||||||

| Our guide was fantastic. Funny, informative and hospitable. I felt as if a friend was welcoming me to the neighborhood. With the exception of Aphrodisia, every stop was a gem. We returned to each of the stops throughout our vacation. We couldn't get enough of the foods we tried, especially the pizza! I will recommend the tour and the businesses to others. I would like to say that you should eliminate Aphrodisia from your stops. It didn't add any value to the experience and the store owner was not friendly. She appeared put out by our group and did not even offer a greeting. My friends and I felt uncomfortable in this store. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Cindy, was funny and knowledgeable of the area and we learned much about the food, history, politics, economics and society of both Greenwich Village and NYC. While the tour covered a very small area (the info shared said we would cover 3 miles and we probably didn't even cover a half mile) it was very entertaining and enlightening. We returned to the area during the week to dine at restaurants that were recommended and I'm not sure they are some of the best in the city. Perhaps they are truly listed in the tour based soley on paid advertising and not because this is the best of what Greenwich Village has to offer?? The food provided on the tour was tasty and more than satisfied our lunchtime cravings although we did stop at an outside cafe for a glass of wine upon completing the tour. Murray's Cheese Shop, Amy's Breads and Rocco's Pastries are just amazing and delights for the senses. Wish the shopowners took more of a role in these tours and participated to some extent. | ||||||

| The Greenwich Village tour was wonderful. We were led by tour guide Cindy, who , besides being really knowledgable about the area, was vastly entertaining and could do stand-up!!! The tour was a great blend of food tastings, history and coverage of the area. I loved the fact that the food tastings were of the real eateries where locals would go to eat, but we were also informed about dining options as well. I got a sense of the neighborhood and totally enjoyed it. I would recommend it completely, and look forward to doing the other tours. | ||||||

| I'm from NJ and go into the city about 5-6 times a year, sometimes for myself just to see a show and other times with friends who are from out of state. I've been looking for something different to do for awhile now, and found this tour to be interesting... I've been to the village on several ocassions, so I wasnt sure if I would truly enjoy it... But I was like a walking tour and food, why not? I was so amazed about all I didnt know about this part of town that I enjoyed myself so much. The different stores we went into and the food we sampled was just unbelievable. Our group was 13 people and I can say we all had a blast. I have more family coming into town this weekend and will be booking another walking tour for us to enjoy as well. Whether you are from NY/NJ/CT or from out of town you will enjoy this tour tremendously. | ||||||

| Enjoyed this tour very much, went beyond my expectations. Barrie was knowledgeable about the area. I especially appreciated the literary links as a retired college professor of English. One minor detail - she was confused as to the orientation not knowing where east/west/north/south were located. The food samples were very plentiful. I would have liked some gelato after all the pizza. Whoever wrote the booklet did an excellent job. I plan to return following the guide. Have already recommended this tour to others. | ||||||

| The variety and quality of food was generally great. Only disappointment was the final tasting of the kebab. There is much better food around than that eg. ice cream. cheesecake. Good combination of history, architecture, and even local knowledge of TV sets and who has lived in the area, with food and more food. Husband and I both found it thoroughly enjoyable with that one reserve. | ||||||

| I would thoroughly recommend the Greenwich food tour to anyone who appreciates good food and wants to have a more personalised experience in New York. Our tour guide Cindy was really enthusiastic and funny. As a Greenwich native, she really brought the tour to life and seemed to know all the locals. She also recommended various restaurants in the village which was good to know. The food samples we had were all great - plenty to keep us going for the rest of the afternoon. | ||||||

| I can't recommend the walking tour highly enough! What a great was to start our visit to NYC. If you're planned to take a tour, do it early in your stay so that you can go back to visit all the places on the tour. There's lots to eat along the way and excellent cultural/ historic information about the city as well. Our guide Ed was superb, making the tour fun and fascinating for everyone. We'll be recommending it to others for sure. (We also did the Greenwich Village Tour, which was recommended by another person on our Chelsea tour.) Julie | ||||||

| Our adult daughter had taken this tour a few months ago with another family member, and she highly recommended it to us. Coming from out of town, we were looking for things to do on our first trip to NYC. She didn't mind taking the tour again, so my husband and I took her and a friend, and she thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around, too! We loved hearing about the history of the Chelsea Market, and enjoyed tasting samples of what all the little shops had to offer. At every stop, there was a place to sit and enjoy the food, so we didn't have to stand for the whole 3 hours. It was a hot day outside, but most of the tour was held inside, which was nice. Restrooms were convenient. When it was over, we all had full stomachs, but we decided to go back to the shop that specialized in teas, and had a refreshing drink on comfy chairs while we discussed what we all loved about the tour. We would highly recommend it for all adults. It was certainly one of the highlights of our trip to the Big Apple! | ||||||
