I bought the tickets for my friend and I to do something fun for her birthday. We are foodies and love new places and fun facts. This tour was amazing...delicious food and very filling. Our guide was BERT! He was the best. Funny and knew all the hot spots in the city. We told him he should have his own show on Food Network. He really was great. I would recommend this tour to anyone who lives nearby or even traveling to NYC for a couple days. The 3 hour tour around Greenwich Village was worth the money and we had a blast. Thanks Bert!

Greenwich Village
Thu, Jun 28, 12   11:30 AM msc1181 Unspecified 30-39 Local Couple on a Date
It was our first time at Greenwich Village and I thought the town was great. It has so many great places to eat and Marie did a great job explaining the culture and the description of the food. Though I was " lactose" and felt that I was able to eat "some" food I felt that a lot of the food choices had cheese ( cheese slices, cheesecake, riceball ( with lots of ricatto). My husband did eat my portion and enjoyed it very much. I thought it was nice to accomodate people that are vegetarians but it would've been nice if we would been able to pick our ' choices" ahead of time. Also, I liked that Marie took to us to many locations that were shaded ( it was in the 90's). The places that Marie recommended I went the next day and enjoyed the food very much!! I went back to Pizza Roma ( pizza with no cheese) and I got olive oil from Olive and Co. If I were to go back to New York I would stay in Greenwich village and felt it was the town I would enjoy the most. I would recommend the food and culture tour in Greenwich Village. Thank you!

Me, my husband and my 14 year old niece took the Greenwich Village tour. Our tour guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable and the food was delicious! I would recommend this tour for adults and not kids as my niece was a little bored. It is a great way to get acquainted with a neighborhood!

History and humour as we hit the Highline.

My husband and I, foodies from Australia, had a great time as our guide Gerald took us through the Chelsea Markets and the Meatpacking District. An enthusiastic, knowledgeable and hugely entertaining local, Gerald ( a cross between a tour guide and a stand-up comic) took us from bakery to bordello in this very reasonably priced, 3 hour long tour. The Market itself was amazing; the original Nabisco Biscuit Factory, it has been lovingly restored with great artistic vision. Art works, artisanal shops with the innovative, very beautiful Highline above. There were tourists, but our feeling was this area is much loved and used, by New Yorkers. Tastings were generous. Our group was made welcome at Eleni's, Ronny Brook's, the Lobster Place (deliciously velvety lobster bisque!), Buon Italia (fantastic antipasta), the Fruit Exchange, Jaques Torres Choc. Shop, the Tuckshop, Sarahbeth's (scones that tasted like home) and finally, in the Meatpacking District itself, lunch at an old meatpacking factory now known as Macellaria where we had home-made pasta with an oxtail and heritage tomato sauce. The Meatpacking District provided a great contrast. Cobbled streets, the bar made famous in Coyote Ugly, a certain 'rank' smell, that bordello I mentioned earlier and Gerald's commentary made it easy to imagine the District as it was in its heyday; a decidedly dangerous, dirty place to be. Thanks, Zerve for putting these tours together. NYC is a huge place and in a week we couldn't hope to do everything. Your tour gave us a bird's- eye of a wonderfully historical district. Next time...Greenwich Village!

Worth the Time / Fun and Informative / Good Food

I was traveling with my father, a father son trip, while he still can travel. He is 89 years old. Our tour guide, Darrel, was entertaining and informative. My father has trouble hearing. Our guide did a great job making sure he could hear everything that was said. The food was great. My wife and I had taken this same tour a couple of years ago. While it was similar the tour was not exactly the same, so don't hesitate to do the same tour more than once.

I always take a food tour whenever I visit a new city and this was the best so far. The food was delicious and authentic and plentiful. The tour guide was enthusiastic and informative. I loved that we also got a history lesson. This tour made me want to go back and explore the neighborhood on my own. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone and everyone!

Wonder overview tour of Greenwich Village. Food is sufficient to serve as a meal. We have done this tour multiple times with different friends and always choose the 11:00 tour and let it be lunch.

Loved the chelsea market. Our tour guide was a stand-up comedian and had us cracking up the whole time. Food was great. Loved the walk around the cobblestone tree lined streets and brownstones of the west village. Highly recommend!

Our group really all the restaurants and stores we visited. Coming from out of town, it is difficult to make a desicion about where to eat but now I have several smaller, unique and delicious choices for my next trip in.

Great way to spend an afternoon

In NY for a few days and decided to do this tour. Our guide Cindy was great - funny, informative, a bundle of energy (not so much us, it was a hot day!) and obviously knew the neighborhood and its residents very well.. It was a nice surprise to learn about the history of the area as well as facts about the restaurants and food stores we visited. Some of the tastings we enjoyed more than others - Vinoteca tasting sampler, Faicco's rice ball and Scali Caffe's delicious cheesecake stood out, but we were a little disappointed with the pizza at Joe's - had better - and the cheeses at Murray's Cheese Shop which we found to be dry and also they weren't labelled so we didn't know what we were tasting.. But these are pretty minor criticisms, overall a great tour and a fun afternoon! We look forward to trying another tour next time we're in NY.

Fun way to learn more about Greenwich Village

This was a fun excursion with a friend visiting from the Washington, DC area. I'm still new to Long Island and needed a good idea for an afternoon in NYC. Our tour guide, Cindy, was very good-natured, very knowledgeable and obviously knew the neighborhood well. She got hellos and hugs from some of the local folks as we made our way on the tour. The food (pizza, cheeses, desserts, scrumptious appetizers, etc.) was yummy and was plenty to eat. We enjoyed getting the scoop on the local places. The tour took us to seven different places but also we also explored the quieter, historic streets and learned all kinds of fun trivia. An added bonus: you get a booklet listing the places you visited and more, why they are special and coupons. It's a nicely-done tour and worth the money. I will try their other tours. Wear comfy shoes and be mindful that it is a lot of walking and standing on your feet for periods of time.

A Day in New York With Friends
Wed, Jun 27, 12   11:30 AM Karensc Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
My friends and I were looking to go to New York for the day when this tour was recommended to us. We had a great time. We saw a part of the city we had never seen before. The food tasting was just enough to give you a hint of the area and will certainly make us return. Our tour guide, Kurt, was amusing and kept the tour moving with out making us feel rushed. He made it a point to remember everyone's name and by the end of the tour we did not feel like a group of strangers on a tour in NYC. I particularly liked the fact that we did not feel like we were obligated to buy anything - although we did make it a point to return to buy olive oil. I would do another tour this company offered again.

My niece had recommended this tour so we signed up for it as this was our first time in NYC. We loved the tour and our tour guide. The tour guide was Sephrah and she made the tour so entertaining and informative. My husband and I are serious foodies so I will give you a review on each stop: Joe's Pizza - Not impressed O & Co Olive Oil Shop - One of my favorites Home - We both loved this stop and would go back Cornelia Street Cafe - Why did we stop here? No food sampled Faicco's - Not impressed Centro Vinoteca - Nice stop Milk & Cookie - Loved it Murray's - Nice and informative Rocco's - Good ending We loved the history that was given to us along the way.
