Great food, Too long of a tour

| 3 hours for this tour is wayyy toooo long. The food was phenomenal and the portions were great. We were stuffed by about 3/4 way through the tour. But, really, the tour could easily be completed within 1.5-2 hours instead of 3. Pros: Tour guide friendly/knowledgeable, food samples, small groups Cons: Too lengthy, seems like an "older people" type of tour, too much walking - not enough sitting, not enough bathroom breaks | ||||||

| Marie was a wonderful guide who kept us moving at a good clip, provided a vast amount of neighborhood information and served as a great food master. There were seven total tasting stops that ranged from pizza to chocolate chip cookies (still warm) to specialty meats, cheeses and my personal favorite...fried rice balls. And as if the food wouldn't be reason enough to highly recommend the tour, the historical information provided made us feel like part of the neighborhood. We even met some of the local residents who were out on the streets that added to the welcoming nature and feel throughout the entire tour. I'm looking forward to my next trip to NYC so I can participate in one of the other Foods of NY neighborhood food tours. Take it from a Midwest girl...you should take this tour the next time you find yourself in NYC. | ||||||

| This was a great tour for anyone who loves food and we learned a lot about the history of Chelsea market as we went. All the food that we had was delicious. We started and ended with dessert, but with all the walking we did in between you don't even feel guilty! We saw many of the wholesale food buisnesses in Chelsea market and got to sample a variety of foods at each. There wasn't much time for looking around or buying at most of the stores, but we were given a guide that had a listing of all the stores so that we could go back if there was something we were interested in. The tour is a bit pricey, but it's about what you'd pay if you took another tour (Empire State building, Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, Statue of Liberty...) and paid for lunch. So bring some comfortable walking shoes, 'cause you're in for a treat! | ||||||

Informational and Entertaining

| I highly recommend the Greenwich Village Food Tour for both visitors and local New Yorkers who have a passion for food and are interested in learning a little bit as well. The tour provided interesting information about the history and culture of Greenwich Village, all the while satisfying taste buds. We tried two different styles of pizza, mouth-watering desserts, and some wonderful ethnic foods as well (falafel, rice balls, etc.). Our tour guide also provided recommendations on other places in the area that we didn't 'sample' at so that we could come back another time...and my boyfriend and I did just that! We traveled back to Greenwich Village the following day and the food and ambience at Cornelia's was fantastic! Not only do we feel comfortable getting around Greenwich Village now but the tour was without a doubt one of our highlights from visiting NYC. Be prepared for a little bit of walking but after all of the great food, it's definitely needed! The only thing I would have liked to try is a local wine or beer. Note: The tour guide only hands out one water bottle to each person at the beginning of the tour and after all of the walking and eating, you'll want something else. Bring your own drinks if you can. | ||||||

| My daughter and I loved this tour. Barri was a wondeful guide and gave just enough history, food information and humor to keep the tour interesting at all times. She was very informed and knew her products and the best places to eat. My daughter who is 26 commented that she would just love to come to New York and do food tours every day in different areas of the city. We just may do that next time. We were very full after the tour and didn't need to eat lunch...but we just went back to one of the places and had a drink and relaxed. We returned to some of the places to shop a few days later. Great tour! I would completely reccomend it to anyone. It wasn't all that much walking... just on your feet a long time. But there are places to sit down occasionally and restroom breaks...so that is good too. great job! thanks The Clarks Salt Lake City, Utah | ||||||

| Our tour was and a lot of fun and we're glad we did it. Chelsea Market is really unique and a definite must see. our tour guide, Kurt, was a great blend of informative and funny. He seemed to be able to remember everyone's name and really knew his facts about the area. This activity was recommended to us by some friend's who had done it a few years ago and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. | ||||||

| We went on this tour on our last day. This was a big mistake! Should have done this first! Our guide was great and so enthusiastic about Greenwich village. The food we experienced was really good and plenty of it. However, the highlight was Greenwich village itself. Our guide took us to places we would never have seen or even guessed that these gems existed in a big city like New York. If or when we go back Greenwich will be top of the list. Excellent tour. Thanks! | ||||||

| I thought the sushi tour was excellent. The food was very interesting and some different from any sushi I had ever tasted. The explanation of the several courses was very educational and gave great insight into the Japanese culture. Our married children and spouses who live in NYC truly enjoyed the evening. Very worth while. | ||||||

| it has been a long time since i have participated in any type of tour, but i have to say i thoroughly enjoyed this one. greenwich village has been a neighborhood i have always wanted to go to, and having a tour guide share the culture, history, and food was just the way to do it. granted, 3 and 1/2 hours is a very long time to be standing and walking, but i think it was worth it because a bus tour wouldn't have provided the same environment, and it would have been quite cumbersome moving along the streets (not to mention, getting on and off 8 times to taste the food). walking through the streets and local shops & restaurants gave me the feeling of being a local, not a tourist. i would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys trying different foods, and learning about the neighborhood. | ||||||

| We had previously been on the Chelsea Market tour. After that great experience we often go to Chelsea Market when we're in NYC. The cultural aspect was terrific, there was more of it than in the Chelsea Market tour. Even the teenagers enjoyed it. We went back the next night for dinner at one of the restaurants -- we were too full to go the same night. Another great tour. | ||||||
