I think it was an off day....

I had read such great reviews about this tour, that maybe I built up my expectation too much? Our tour guide, Cindy, was great...but we had some real characters on our tour who required a lot of attention and it wore on everyone in the group, including the tour guide. The main thing that I got out of it was an overview/introduction to Greenwich Village and several of the many cool places to shop/dine there. For that I am grateful as I plan to go back soon and often. Murray's and Rocco's were definitely the highlights! Thanks.

Eating and Learning - a Great Combination.

Not only was our tour guide great, she was also an actress. She added entertainment to the tour as well. The weather was perfect as was our group. I didn't even look at my watch once, time flew by. My 23 year old daughter was with me and was, at first, hesitant about this activity. Mixing eating with learning about the area was fun, and we met some new people. This company is a definate on our list on our next visit. After the play that night, we stopped for pizza in Times Square - no comparision. Thanks for a great time.

Awesome Food Tour In Soho!

Our female tour guide was great! She was very informative, witty and was an excellent resource for not only the food establishments we visited but also NYC as a whole. I found the food we tasted to be excellent and I would go back to any of the establishments we visited again. The tour was my favorite part of a three day weekend in the City. I have already looked on line for more food tours that I can participate in.

The question I always ask myself after most events is "would I do it again"? The answer here is a resounding "yes". The food tastings were very good; the history was interesting, but the huge bonus was the presence of our tour guide Sephora. It was like spending a few hours with a wonderful friend who was a first rate entertainer and comedienne. We had a blast. Thank you Foods of New York. AS

Fantastic!

Me and a friend (from England) booked tickets to this event after going on the Greenwich tour last year and completely enjoying that one. And to be honest, we weren't disappointed with this tour. The tour guide (Remon?) had a lot of local knowledge and gave a nice insight into the etiquette and history of China and their food. This tour was particularly good, as there was a lot of places to sit and enjoy the food. The best part, for us, was watching the chef slice the peking duck, and to top it off, the duck was absolutely lovely. There was nothing that we didn't like on the tour. The food was well thought out and presented at the right times in the tour. The guide was clear; concise and knowledgable, and was keen to share his knowledge. I would give this event 5 stars out of 5 and really would recommend the tour to anyone who wants to learn more about an area and learn more about the food.

Great Tour but avoid holiday / Monday
Mon, Oct 12  12:00 PM sncarson Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The tour guide was funny and very nice. This was a popular tour so the tickets were sold out quickly. I happened to book mine on the Columbus Day (Monday). They have a great list of places to visit but Monday seems to be a less popular as many of good restaurants and shops are closed. I was hoping to try more variety foods in small portions but end up having two of different style pizza slices during the course. Other than that, the contents of tour is fun and enjoyable.

Fun, good tastes, but not too informative
Mon, Oct 12  12:00 PM blackpollara Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our guide was delightful, clearly knew the stores/foods. Enjoyed tasting the two battling types of pizza, the cookie and the italian pastry, and the cheeses. Overall it was fun but definitely less informative than I had imagined. Although we were told we would learn something about cow vs goat vs sheep milks cheeses, in fact no information was offered (except tasting threee cheeses, which I assume each represented one type, but that was never clear). No guidance on particular brands of foods, but stopping in front of such a variety of stores and restaurants and hearing stories about each will make it easier to use this neighborhood for cooking/eating pleasures in the future.

The tour was very interesting. You not only got to taste a wide variety of amazing food, the very personable guide gave excellent restaurant recommendations and an informative overview of the history of Greenwich Village. Exceeded my expectations, I would certainly recommend the tour for local and visitors.

This tour was a highlight to our NYC trip. The food tasting was great and we really enjoyed the tour around the neighborhood. Our guide, Dave made it very enjoyable. I would surely do this again!

A great tour for people who hate tours!
Sun, Oct 11  12:00 PM jeccles Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
We normally HATE tours because SO MUCH depends on how good your guide is! If you have a poor guide, you've wasted a precious day and money! We have friends that visit the city often and they recommended the tour. We were a bit reluctant but are SO GLAD we tried it! Our guide, Sephra, was great! She was funny, warm, and very knowledgable, and the food was delicous as well. We ate dinner at Palma that night then came back later that week to try LeGigot. Both were well worth it. The next time we come to NYC we want to try the Chelsea tour.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a taste of the other side of New York away from the hustle and bustle. The tour guide was brilliant, an excellent sense of humour and the 3 hours flew by. All the food on the tour was excellent, we had a really good time. Thank you very much, Regards Breda, Elaine and Fionnuala

It could have been better w/ a better tour guide
Sun, Oct 11  11:30 AM PaulaGondek Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The pace moved way to slow. It was a three hour tour that given the information we were given, it could have been done in an hour an 15 minutes. My husband was ready to leave after the 1st half hour. I kept thinking that it would get better, and that our guide would actually say something about the area other than watch out for cars, and don't crowd the sidewalks. They had to make changes the day of our tour, but rather than entertaining the group with some information about the area or a story or two, the group was basically left hanging around on the street twiddling thumbs. Three of the 6 places that we had tastings from, we were not even invited to go into them. We ended up eating on the street corner across the street. We were so dissapointed because our friends had gone on one of the other tours, of Greenwich/Soho and loved it. Their tour guide was funny and informative. Marie made alot of excuses and never really gave us any information on the area. Sorry, we don't even think that we are that picky of people.

Great family outing!
Sun, Oct 11  11:30 AM cynthiamarti Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
I took my daughter with me and we had a great day together. The guide was engaging and very knowledgeable and extremely welcoming and warm. I will definitely make time on my next trip to NYC to sign up for another neighborhood trip. I have also told so many of my friends who frequent NYC - that it is a must do experience. It was a great way to introduce my daughter to something other than Broadway and major tourist sights in NYC. Thanks for offering this unique tour.
