So far, we've gone on two different Foods of New York tours. Our first was the Original Greenwich Village tour, and most recently, the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District tour.
I can't say enough good things about the tours. I'm a sucker for tours, and I love to eat, so a food tour is right up my alley. These specific tours are done right, too.
You definitely get enough food over the course of 3 hours to fill you up. In my mind, that's a huge plus. There are so many good points to these tours. First, you're with your tour guide in a small-ish group, being wrangled from one spot to the next. Secondly, at each stop, you're given a delectable bite or more, and some detailed information about the restaurant, food or area. Third, you're walking, so you're burning off whatever you're consuming as you're being educated. Fourth, at the start of the tour, you're given a pamphlet with information on your stops, as well as coupons that can be used in the stores! Finally, the tour guides themselves are good people. Entertaining, informing and always on the look-out for an extra tidbit of food that wasn't originally on the tour. Can't ask for much more than that!
Between the two that we've done, I'd have to pick Chelsea as my favorite. Not based solely on guides, but on the stops themselves. We didn't have one bad item on either tour, but I did like the food at Chelsea just a bit more.
You're going to be on your feet for a good portion of the three hours, so wear comfortable shoes. Also, there may be a good amount of "down time", in which your guide is running off to prep the next stop on your tour. Just be prepared to entertain yourselves for a few minutes if needed. There's usually always a good shop to browse or things to see wherever you end up.
My only suggestion to the company would be to consider providing tour participants with audio devices. It's hard to hear your guide when you're standing in a semi-circle around him/her, and he/she is turned away from you. An audio device attached to a mic would be a great addition, I think. |

The tour is very nice, once we had the chance to stop at a whole bunch of places and try out different types of food (from cupcakes to pasta). Besides that, the tour guide told us many stories about the building and the shops, which were very interesting. Moreover, we got the chance to visit the Highline Park and learn a little bit about its history and take great pictures during the way. I would definitely recommend this tour if you want to visit the chelsea market! It's a lot better than walking by yourself there... |

I really enjoyed the areas that we were taken too, but would have liked to try more food. The portions were really small and we also entered places where we didn't try their foods |

What a wonderful afternoon in Greenwich Village! Bert, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, fun, interesting and entertaining. We learned a lot about the area, ate wonderful food, met great people and had so much fun. My daughter, sister-in-law and I agree this tour was a highlight of our trip. We are normally not the "tour" type of people but this was more like a group of friends getting together for an afternoon of food and fun. Highly recommend! |

My mother and I and one friend recently visited New York. I decided on the Greenwich Walking and Food Tour after reading several outstanding reviews. It was a great decision. Our guide, Diane, was excellent. I learned so much about the history of the area. The food was fabulous! I can't wait to book another tour my next time in New York. |

I was so unexpectedly surprised by this tour. I never eat cheese, expect on pizza, and yet this tour fed me three dishes with cheese (one one just cheese and tomatoes) and I loved it all. I literally cannot pick a favorite dish I tried on the tour. Our tour guide, Rahim, was an excellend tour guide and was very knowledgeable and nice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |

We had a wonderful time walking around the village and Soho and learned so much about the architecture, the restuarants and the food. The tour guide was personable, knowledgable and kept things moving at a terrific pace. The sample foods were delicious and the overall experience was one we would recommend highly to friends and family.
Thank you for a great time. |

Our guide provided a feel for the real New York (at least in the Greenwich Village area). His knowledge of the area, and its history and people was exceptional. The tastings were all wonderful, and represented a wide variety of ethnic and local foods. In addition to the scheduled tasting stops he introduced us to several other local food vendors. This was an enjoyable and educational way to spend 3 hours in the city. |

A very pleasant stroll around the village punctuated with various tasty treats meaning there was no need for a separate lunch. Very informative guide who is obviously passionate about her job and her neighbourhood. Superb insight into the preparation and the ingredients and interspersed various foodie tips that are relevant day to day anywhere.
I would certainly do this tour again. |

This was my 3rd tour with the same company. This should really tell it all. Great way to get to know the Village. I discovered streets that I didn't know and many places intend to go back to. Food was good, Marie did a great job, my guest was very impressed and I had a great time. |
