We have now done three tours, Greenwich Village, Chelsea Market and now Central Village/Soho, and of this one was one of the best. Come hungry as you will be tasting many varieties of food. Our tour guide, Raheed, was extremely knowledgeable with the area, including the food and the architecture. You will not be disappointed with this one. Enjoy!

My friends and I would never had made it to Chelsea Market without this tour. Be prepared to be on your feet for 3 hours. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly. All of the food was wonderful. Can you say "Red velvet cupcakes" - what a great way to start. |

This is the third tour my sister and I have taken. We took the other two tours because we loved the first one so much. On the second and third tour, we were accompanied by friends who loved the tours just as much as we did. The tour guides were terrific. They were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The guides gave us the history of the areas visited and information about the places we stopped for food. And the food was delicious. The tour guides also gave us information about the restaurants in the area. All in all, very interesting. We got to see areas of New York we might never have know about. |

Spent a wonderful morning on the Greenwich Village Walking Tour. The tour was led by Marie. She was great and you could tell she loved her job. She told us many stories that gave the history of the food, the characters that have lived in the area as well as the buildings. The selection of places to sample food gave us flavor of the village and everything was delicious! We returned to Home Restaurant a few nights later for dinner. Thanks to all of the establishments that participated in the tour. |

I have coordinated numerous small group tours for my friends over the last 5 years. Of all the food tours we've done, this was, by far, the most entertaining and enjoyable. The tour guide, Kurt, was clearly well-trained, knowledgeable and quick-witted. His humor and extensive knowledge, as well as the prosaic manner in which he described foods and their preparation, made him the best guide I have had the pleasure of being led by. In addition, the food choices were outstanding, as were the portions, variety, and taste.
Despite having done other tours of certain areas in NYC, we plan to do ALL of your tours going forward, and we wish we could have Kurt as our guide on all of them! |

This tour is surprisingly, almost shockingly, full of good food. You can't finish the tour hungry. Our guide was very charismatic and entertaining. There was hardly a dull moment. She didn't go deeply into the cultural history of the Village or the cultural context of the foods she served, but that was fine. It was enough to share with us some great stories and great food. Thank you! |

Entertaining, informative and very tasty. Our guide, Kurt, was funny, extremely knowledgeable and descriptive about all things culinary. His wit, the quality of the food sampled and the company of our fellow tasters made this a highlight of our trip to NYC. |

Did the Meatpacking/Chelsea Market tour. It was one of the most entertaining and fun things I have done in a long time. Our tour guide Curt simply was amazing. Looking forward to be on one of his tours again. |

Our tour guide, Curt, was knowledgeable, funny, witty, high energy and enthusiastic. Within 5 minutes of "shaking hands" with everyone in the tour group, he memorized everyone's name and home town and for the next 3 hours, made everyone felt that he was giving them "personal VIP treatment". What a pleasant & unexpected treat!
I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if Curt is the guide!! Thank you, Curt! |

Bert (as in Bert and Ernie) was an enthusiastic guide with a great sense of humor. Anyone taking this tour will have at least 15 great restaurants / eateries / take-outs to try in Greenwich Village. In addition to learning about some history of the area, we got a great feel for the neighborhood as it is today. This tour was very generous with the food - I didn't count but I felt as if we ate at about a dozen places. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to trying other tours with this company when I return to NYC. |

This tour was excellent. The guide was organised, witty and well informed. The pace of the tour was just right. The 3 hour duration made it a pleasant and unhurried experience and the guide made a concious effort to include everyone in the commentary. All of the food sampled was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in good food and the history of the area. I went on the tour on my own but was made to feel part of the overall group very quickly. I would also say the tour was excellent value given the number of stops we made and the variety of food we sampled. It was easily the highlight of my 5 day stay in New York |

More Talkin' Than Tastin'

There was very little regarding food preparation and certainly no cooking tips or discussion by the proprietors of any restaurant. We did have interaction with the sales clerks at a cheese shop and an olive oil shop. This "tour" was mostly standing on the sidewalk in front of restaurants (in a cold, blowing rain) listening to the history of the establishment or of the neighborhood. The tastings were modest and strung over three hours--no way I would consider this lunch. Most of the establishments allowed us inside due to the inclement weather, but only after our guide left us on the sidewalk and asked permission. It appears that there was very little prearranged with any of the restaurants. The cheese shop and olive oil shop knew we were coming, were welcoming, and obviously hoping for a sale. One or two of the restaurants had prepared a small sit-down tasting which was clearly prearranged. For most, this was not the case. Our guide was knowledgable and entertaining (an unemployed actress doing the tour guide gig). My advice--go to Bleeker Street in the village and take your own tour. If you look like you might buy something, the folks in these shops are delighted to talk to you, sans the big group and the tour guide. Find your own nice restaurant and sit down and have an ACTUAL LUNCH, maybe even a glass of wine (and pay for it with the money you would have used for the tour and tip). And if the weather is bad, you won't be forced to stand on the sidewalk in front of the establishment--you can actually GO IN. |
