Our tour guide (Raheem) was absolutely fantastic. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the tour content really made the tour worth while. The tour gave us an insight into the 'real new york' |

This is my 5th tour with Foods of NY and I have never been disappointed. This one was especially enjoyable due to Anny's lovely personality, enthusiasm, and energy. She was full of interesting anecdotes about the neighborhood and her love of NY was obvious. This was a great neighborhood to explore and Anny was a wonderful guide. At every stop, you could tell the vendors knew her and were happy to see her. She knew everyone's name by the time we left the initial meeting place and we had such a nice group of people that I was sorry to see the tour end.
My friend had never been to NY while I had visited several times. We both enjoyed all the tastings, especially the one at Emprorio Restaurant. In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we went to Emporio for dinner the following evening.
I would highly recommend any of the Foods of NY tours, but if you're lucky enough to tour with Anny, it will be an extra special treat. |

I would jump at the chance to do this tour again.
Our tour guide Kurt is one of the best tour guides I have ever had for any tour. He has so much interesting information to share- from the history of the area, the buildings, the companies, NY in general to the food we were sampling and sharing tips on eating and ordering at restuaurants. He knows his stuff!
The food and variety offered was really good- don't eat too soon before doing the tour! Some people didn't turn up for the tour so their share of samples were divided up between the rest of us. Yummy!
I loved the quick trip up to the High Line, and if you are lucky enough to have Kurt as your guide you will be pleasantly surprised with the extra effort he goes to to show visitors as much as he can of this interesting area.
I most definitely recommend this tour - if you have an interest in sampling international foods or are keen to hear about the interesting history of the district then this tour will fullfil this.
Give yourself time after the tour to go back and explore the building again and buy things you probably won't have time to during the tour. You will be given discount coupons for most if not all of the places visited at the beginning of the tour, which is why I suggest you wait until after the tour to shop. We also didn't stop at every single shop and all of the shops in the complex are quite interesting, so go and and check out these too.
This is a really good way to experience the markets. |

It was well presented by our tour guide. The shops that we visited were excellent and the tastings as well. I would be very happy to recommend this tour to anyone as one of the many places that should be seen. |

As a native New Yorker I like to think there isn't much I've missed. So, when I booked this tour for my husband's birthday my only thought was a guilt free excursion filled with mouth watering food from some of my favorite Village eateries while we got to work off the calories with the walk. We got so much more for our money! The value here is incredible. For less than the cost of most one hour tours, our guide Heather took us on a three hour extravaganza of food, wine, history and architecture. We feasted on artisanal cheeses, fresh baked bread slathered with lavender honey, olive oils redolent with herbs, chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven, REAL New York pizza (and I say this as a native!), and even had a midway stop at an enotecca where we could have a glass of wine along with our complimentary tastings. (Don't miss the bacon wrapped stuffed date!) Oh, and don't let me forget the crispy canolli as light and sweet as Christmas. Even though it's billed as a tasting tour, our group of five was stuffed by the end of our tour. No need for lunch before or after this tour!
As we walked the narrow and winding streets of Greenwich Village, Heather filled us in with all sorts of tidbits on theater, history, culture and 'hidden' New York. It's hard to imagine Manhattan was once a sparsely settled island filled farms and dirt roads, but parts of that old person-scaled New York remain and Heather was happy to point them out to us. Along the walk we discovered the narrowest house on Manhattan, built in an alley between two older town homes. (it's barely 9 feet wide and has been home to several important artists and writers) And then there's Grove Court, a tiny necklace of hidden homes behind their street front neighbors. In fact, as the city expanded, a number of these older homes became hidden from street view, known only to the locals. In fact, as someone born and raised in New York, I was astounded at how many new things I learned during this tour.
One of the best parts about this tour, though, and the thing that prompted me to post this review is that it felt less like a tour and more like a group of friends exploring the City. Heather immediately put everyone at their ease. She provided bottled water and introductions and soon we were hanging out, exchanging stories and laughing together like an old bunch of friends who haven't seen each other in awhile. She even gave us coupons to use in the neighborhood so we could go back to some of the shops for our souvenir and holiday purchases.
I've taken much more expensive tours in cities all over America and Europe and I can recommend Foods Of New York Tours as one of the best buys for your money and an experience not to be missed. |

I thought the greenwich tour was interesting from the historical and architectural point of view. Most of The food, I found, a little disappointing. The exceptions were the olive oil place, the Italian restaurant where we had the cauliflower dish and Murray's cheese shop. |

I enjoyed the food and the historical commentary. Diana, our guide, made the tour exceptional. She was funny, engaging, and full of a wealth of details when she was asked questions. When the tour finished, I immediately bought some of the items we tasted. Later, I recommended the tour to people I had come to NYC with as something they should do. Two days later, I led a group back to one of the restaurants we were introduced to for dinner. I want to go on more food tours! |
