Informational and Entertaining

I highly recommend the Greenwich Village Food Tour for both visitors and local New Yorkers who have a passion for food and are interested in learning a little bit as well. The tour provided interesting information about the history and culture of Greenwich Village, all the while satisfying taste buds. We tried two different styles of pizza, mouth-watering desserts, and some wonderful ethnic foods as well (falafel, rice balls, etc.). Our tour guide also provided recommendations on other places in the area that we didn't 'sample' at so that we could come back another time...and my boyfriend and I did just that! We traveled back to Greenwich Village the following day and the food and ambience at Cornelia's was fantastic! Not only do we feel comfortable getting around Greenwich Village now but the tour was without a doubt one of our highlights from visiting NYC. Be prepared for a little bit of walking but after all of the great food, it's definitely needed! The only thing I would have liked to try is a local wine or beer. Note: The tour guide only hands out one water bottle to each person at the beginning of the tour and after all of the walking and eating, you'll want something else. Bring your own drinks if you can.

What a great way to spend a morning!

My daughter and I loved this tour. Barri was a wondeful guide and gave just enough history, food information and humor to keep the tour interesting at all times. She was very informed and knew her products and the best places to eat. My daughter who is 26 commented that she would just love to come to New York and do food tours every day in different areas of the city. We just may do that next time. We were very full after the tour and didn't need to eat lunch...but we just went back to one of the places and had a drink and relaxed. We returned to some of the places to shop a few days later. Great tour! I would completely reccomend it to anyone. It wasn't all that much walking... just on your feet a long time. But there are places to sit down occasionally and restroom breaks...so that is good too. great job! thanks The Clarks Salt Lake City, Utah

My fiancé and I are food network fans therefore we decided to take this tour. The tour was very entertaining, the food was delicious, and the tour guide was hilarious. Thank you so much. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves good food and entertainment.

Our tour was and a lot of fun and we're glad we did it. Chelsea Market is really unique and a definite must see. our tour guide, Kurt, was a great blend of informative and funny. He seemed to be able to remember everyone's name and really knew his facts about the area. This activity was recommended to us by some friend's who had done it a few years ago and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to NYC.

This tour was terrific. We learned a lot about the area as well as tasting a diversity of great foods. Our tour guide was wonderful. It is a lot of food so you won't leave hungry.

Wish I had gone on walk first day of our trip.

We went on this tour on our last day. This was a big mistake! Should have done this first! Our guide was great and so enthusiastic about Greenwich village. The food we experienced was really good and plenty of it. However, the highlight was Greenwich village itself. Our guide took us to places we would never have seen or even guessed that these gems existed in a big city like New York. If or when we go back Greenwich will be top of the list. Excellent tour. Thanks!

Second Tour and the Best Yet!

I thought the sushi tour was excellent. The food was very interesting and some different from any sushi I had ever tasted. The explanation of the several courses was very educational and gave great insight into the Japanese culture. Our married children and spouses who live in NYC truly enjoyed the evening. Very worth while.

a great way to soak in the neighborhood

it has been a long time since i have participated in any type of tour, but i have to say i thoroughly enjoyed this one. greenwich village has been a neighborhood i have always wanted to go to, and having a tour guide share the culture, history, and food was just the way to do it. granted, 3 and 1/2 hours is a very long time to be standing and walking, but i think it was worth it because a bus tour wouldn't have provided the same environment, and it would have been quite cumbersome moving along the streets (not to mention, getting on and off 8 times to taste the food). walking through the streets and local shops & restaurants gave me the feeling of being a local, not a tourist. i would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys trying different foods, and learning about the neighborhood.

our entire family, including 2 teenagers loved it

We had previously been on the Chelsea Market tour. After that great experience we often go to Chelsea Market when we're in NYC. The cultural aspect was terrific, there was more of it than in the Chelsea Market tour. Even the teenagers enjoyed it. We went back the next night for dinner at one of the restaurants -- we were too full to go the same night. Another great tour.

Great foods choices, some you would not think of trying like the filled rolled Indian Bread, delicious! The information about the village and Soho area was quite interesting! Wandering this area with a purpose will make future trips to the city and the Village even more fun. Many thanks to our tour guide Susan. Have gone on two tours now with the same group of friends and will definetly do more in the future! How about some greek food tours! Yummy and we want some more, Ann K, Mary D and Louise D.

Great Activity to start your New York Adventure

This was our second tour, we did the Original Village tour two years ago. This time we (four sisters) took our husbands. We took the tour the first morning of our week long visit to New York and found ourselves back in the village to enjoy the resturants and shops many times during the week. Our husbands enjoyed the tour as much as we did. The food tours are one of our favorite activities because they are so informative and help us to feel at home in new areas of the city.

Money well spent!! Excellent experience!

This walking food tour was truly money well spent. Our guide made all of us in our group of 15 feel welcome and included. She provided a wonderful introduction to many eateries, shops, and even a pub in Greenwich Village, but it was her genuine love of the area and the history she provided for all of the places we saw that made the tour so worthwhile. I'm so glad we took the tour early in our trip, because we went back by ourselves to Greenwich Villlage the very next day to get our fill of the foods we had loved!! I definitely plan to take the other food tours from this company on my next trip to NYC!!

One of the highlights of our trip to New York
Thu, Aug 28  12:00 PM TeresaHamlin Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was our first ever trip to New York (we are from England) and we wanted to make the very best use of our five days in the city. We found the Greenwich Village Tour on the internet, & it seemed like an excellent way to get a flavour of the city. But it was even better than we had anticipated. Our guide, Marie, was so friendly, knowledgeable & helpful, that we didn't want to let her go! The three hour walk went in a flash, with lots of yummy food and fascinating facts and insights about one of the most interesting areas of New York. It was a pleasure to be taken round Greenwich Village by someone who really knew & loved the area & was prepared to share her enthusiasm with us. On Marie's recommendation, we later went back to have memorable meals in two of the restaurants, that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. Thanks, Marie, for making our holiday so special. Teresa, John, Tom & Luke.
