Enlightened Tour
Sat, Mar 26, 05   11:00 AM arpante Female 60-69 Local Family With Children
As a New Yorker, one sometimes does not take advantage of sights and sounds of native city. This tour opened a new appreciation for the Village, its shops, streets, buildings, restaurants and history. Cannot wait to return and re-explore the many sights pointed out to us by our excellent tour guide, Cindy. Thank You.

Interesting but a little slow

I enjoyed parts of the tour, the highlights of which were Joe's Pizza and Chumley's speakeasy, neither of which I would have found or appreciated without the guide. However, the tour was very slow and not as informative from a historical point of view as I had hoped it would be.

Great tour

In a city full of tourist traps and giant crowds, this tour is an breath of fresh air. They limit the size of the groups to 15 members so you get a great intimate tour of the west village. Topics include restaurants, food shops, local history, unique buildings. You really learn what it means to live in the village. The restaurants they reccomend are the ones you would only know about if you had lived in the village for a long time. Each one is extensively screened for over 6 months before they make the list. Those on the list are undoubtedly the best hidden gems of New York. We tried some after the tour and had the dining experience of a lifetime. Each place we sampled on the tour had some of the best food I have ever tasted. You get enough food for an average sized lunch. Tour guides are fun, interesting, and very well educated. You will be on your feet for most of the three hours. Absolutely worth the time and money for both tourists and locals alike.

This was a great family event. and worth every penny! We have raved about it to family and friends. It was very interesting and informative and capitaved the attention of my 11 year old as well as my 19 year old. My husband was even impressed. Our tour guide made the tour so interesting with his knowledge and enthusiam about the Village. The shop and restaurant owners we met were friendly and made the tour that much more special. If our travels take us to New York again we will surely spend our time in Greenwich. Thanks again Todd!

I went together with my 19 yeras old daughter on this very nice walking tour, for almost 4 hours in the charming area of Greenwich Village. We learned a lot from the great guide - special thanks to him! The food tasting was great as well - we do recommend this tour !

Tasty, fun, and informative

All four of us loved the Greenwich tour. Our guide clearly loves the neighborhood, and shared useful information and wonderful stories about the food, people, and places. His enthusiasm led us to return to one of the restaurants for dinner and to several of the stores for shopping later in our visit. We are veterans of walking tours in various cities (such as the architecture tours in Chicago and the history tours in London), and we all agreed that the tour was a a great part of our trip to NYC.

Wonderful insider's view of unique neighborhood!

Our guide Todd was extremely well-informed and not at all shy about sharing his opinions. The corporate practice of paying for the tastings v. accepting freebies from vendors goes a long way to preserving the credibility of your recommendations. You completely satisfied the middle-aged history freak, the middle-aged world traveler, the 18-year-old Spring Breaker and the 13-year-old geek in our group. Eight thumbs up! Scoring tickets to "Spamalot" was an awfully close second, but you were the best part of our trip to NYC.

Greenwich Village food tour
Fri, Mar 25, 05   11:00 AM amouakad Female 60-69 International Tourist(s) Individual
I found the review to be extremely interesting. It was not only limited to food, but it also gave a background of the East Village history. I found the combination of both extremely interesting. Later I went to the Wine Tasting, it was excellent. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends. It also gives you a nice selection of places to go back to in the Village. I went back to the Murray's cheese shop and purchased some cheese. As constructive criticism, I would add one more place in the Central Village. Also the guide should point out the location of the Wine Tasting (in SOHO) for those who would like to try it out. It is definitely worth it, particularly since they are New York wines.

The food we tasted was very good and our guide was very knowledgeable about the village. She told us great little stories about the neighborhood and made her own personal recommendadtions on where and what to eat.

What a great experience! This tour offered so much more than amazing food. I loved learning about the area, architecture and hearing funny stories. I just wish there was something like this where I live. I'm so looking forward to doing this again in the future. Thanks for everything!!

Fun Day!

We enjoyed getting a tour of the Chelsea Market and Meatpacking District. I had been on the Greenwich Village tour and enjoyed that as well. This one didn't cover quite as much ground but was still fun. Curt was a hoot.

A MUST-DO when visiting NYC!
Sun, Mar 13, 05   11:30 AM Touress Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
There were 6 people in our immediate group, EVERYONE in the group had a great time. Kurt was our tour guide.....not only was he knowledgable of the shops, restaurants & the area but he was enthusiatically funny. A great sense of humor! Chelsea Market was a great place, fresh vegetables, meat, seafood, bakery items, wine, flowers - what else is better in life than to have all that indoors, under one roof? The lobster bisque was to-die-for in the seafood market! The local trivia was informative & the day was beautiful. Wear comfortable shoes & layered clothing, - you'll be indoors & outdoors. What a way to get acquainted with the area, enticing you to come back again to visit any of the places you visit on the tour. Enjoy!

It was great, especially Kurt
Sun, Mar 13, 05   11:30 AM sgierloff Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
I never would have known that the Chelsea Market/meat packing district existed and all the history and interesting facts that Kurt provided about the tour made it even more interesting. Kurt's sense of humor and the fact that he really seemed to enjoy what he was doing made the tour that much more fun. I can't wait to go back to the Market again to buy some of the delicious food we sampled and to eat/hang at the restaurants/bars in the meat packing district. We were really glad that we took the tour and I have already recommended it to some of my friends.
