"Best of Brooklyn" tour well worth it.

We spend a week in NYC every year and we have lately been taking some of the specialty "food tours" now available. The Best of Brooklyn tour was the best to date. My wife and I went to the meet-up spot in the Village and were told by Issac, the tour leader, that we were the only signups. Rather than a cancellation, we then got a personal tour with Issac continuously pointing out the dozens of fascinating sights to us as we asked question after question. We stopped for the "world's best knish" at Yonah Kimmel's, fantastic chocolates under the Manhattan Bridge and finished with a Cuban sandwich in Sunset Park.We even got a lesson in the hierarchy of fine scotch from a Hassidic liquor store operator (and the answers to some questions I've wanted to ask about Jewish culture for years). Hearing that we loved Polish food, he headed the Jeep for Greenpoint, pointing out good restaurants as we drove. In sum, we had a lot of fun, Issac was about as good as it gets and this tour made us confident enough to return to Brooklyn on our own several times the rest of the week. (Fabulous Polish food in Greenpoint.) We highly recommend this tour. If you are fortunate to draw Issac as your guide, you will have an informative enjoyable introduction to a number of fascinating neighborhoods, each quite different from Manhattan. Betty & Jeff

The Best of Brooklyn Bus & Food Tasting Tour was definitely the highlight of our recent trip to New York. Our tour guide, Isaac, was excellent and provided us with many insights into Brooklyn, as well as New York City in general. And the foods we sampled were both interesting and delicious. Thank you for a great day, Isaac!

The tour was exactly what we wanted -- "unknown" places with wonderful food. The tour did not take you to the same spot everyone else was going but actually catered to what our group wanted with impromptu stops and tastes. We enjoyed the tour and Isaac the tour guide immensely. Isaac was very knowledgeable and willing to change plans based on our interests. He did an excellent job of making sure that everyone enjoyed the tour as much as he seemed to be giving it.

More than just a food tasting tour

This tour was wonderful for two reasons. The first is you get to eat some great food during the tour. The second reason is you also learn about the history and people who live or have lived in the areas that the tour takes you through. Isaac (tour director) was very knowledgeable on Brooklyn and New York (he lives in NY). He was very friendly and accomodating to our questions and needs. I would highly recommend this tour.

My mom was visiting from Colorado and she really wanted to do a food tour. When I looked on line, I thought the Broolyn food and cultural tour sounded like the most interesting one out there and we were thrilled to find out that was the case! The tour takes you from the LES into several diverse Brooklyn neghborhoods. Our favorite stops were the Hassidic Jewish deli and the Jaques Torres Chocolate shop. Our guide was knowledgable and very friendly. I think the only thing we didn't like that we tasted were the cuban pork sandwiches, but we both agreed that it was still a wonderful experience trying them and we wouldn't have changed a thing on the tour!

Had a really enjoyable and informative day. We had a week in New York and it was great getting away from the usual tourist spots and seeing a very different New York. Jerry and Isaac were great guides - their insights and enthusiasm for this part of New York shone through and made the day. This was a fascinating trip round a bit of New York we would never have thought to visit ourselves, never gets mentioned in the Guidebooks and is well worth a visit. If we ever get the chance to get back to New York we'll definitely head out to Brooklyn and have a further look.

Visiting New York from California, my husband and I had a fabulous time on the Brooklyn Multicultural and Food Tasting Tour. Our guides, Isaac and Jarrod, (I am uncertain of the latter's name spelling), were full of knowledge and enthusiasm. We covered so much ground, historically and geographically, and the food was fantastic. It took my husband and me to places we never would have experienced. A highlight was sitting atop Sunset Park taking in the view of all of Manhattan while enjoying a Cuban sandwich. In fact, our daughers just moved to Brooklyn from California two months ago. We got to inform them of places and areas they had no knowledge of in their "own backyard"! They can't wait to take the tour too. Thanks for a tremendous New York experience!

Best of Brooklyn - Eating out the traditional way
Fri, May 30, 08   11:00 AM rosiedant Female 60-69 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We really enjoyed our day in Brooklyn, seeing and tasting our way round the parts of New York not usually visited by tourists. It was good that we were in a small group (6) as we bonded quite quickly and were able to visit the various small eateries without overwhelming the establishments themselves. I particularly liked the Torres chocolate shop and the kinishes and the chollent and the cuban panini was amazing. It was good to be informed by a native New Yorker who really knew his stuff and weaved the MPV adeptly through the streets. We felt completely relaxed and comfortable the whole time we were with him. After we made our Brooklyn trip ,our son came to join us in New York for two days on his way back to the UK from San Francisco and we enthusiastically told him about all that we had seen - he was so impressed that he hired a bicycle and toured Brooklyn on his own and saw some of the sights that we saw - though of course he didnt have the beneffit of our lovely tour guide or taste the food. The sights, the sounds and tastes have left a favourable lasting impression. If I am lucky enough to return to New York in the near future I will definitely take another Zerve trip.
