Best of Brooklyn - Eating out the traditional way

| We really enjoyed our day in Brooklyn, seeing and tasting our way round the parts of New York not usually visited by tourists. It was good that we were in a small group (6) as we bonded quite quickly and were able to visit the various small eateries without overwhelming the establishments themselves. I particularly liked the Torres chocolate shop and the kinishes and the chollent and the cuban panini was amazing. It was good to be informed by a native New Yorker who really knew his stuff and weaved the MPV adeptly through the streets. We felt completely relaxed and comfortable the whole time we were with him. After we made our Brooklyn trip ,our son came to join us in New York for two days on his way back to the UK from San Francisco and we enthusiastically told him about all that we had seen - he was so impressed that he hired a bicycle and toured Brooklyn on his own and saw some of the sights that we saw - though of course he didnt have the beneffit of our lovely tour guide or taste the food. The sights, the sounds and tastes have left a favourable lasting impression. If I am lucky enough to return to New York in the near future I will definitely take another Zerve trip. | ||||||

| We booked the tour prior to leaving Australia in April and visited Turkey, Greece, Paris and Frankfurt before arriving in New York 2 days before the tour. Having experienced a diverse range of ethnic cuisines en-route, it was a delight to sample the varied range of food and wine, as well as experience the cultural diversity encountered in Brooklyn. It was a fabulous tour and Isaac was an excellent host. We enjoyed every moment, and would certainly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York, and wanting to do something totally different. This Brooklyn food tour was very memorable to us and stands out as something that we very much enjoyed taking part in. | ||||||

| This is absolutely a great way to see New York! You feel like a film star, as you are certainly the centre of attention in the limo - every time it stops, people gawp to see who gets out... really! The places you get to see on the tour are interesting and a nice mixture of the regular sites and the lesser known ones. There is a good mixture of walking and driving, so you don't feel too lazy. One thing I hadn't realiized from the brochure is that there is a driver and a guide - they are not one and the same, which of course is great. Isaac is an enthusiastic and entertaining guide - a real New Yorker! Seeing NY from the eyes of someone who lives there is very special. My tour party was interesting as we were a mixture of very young and old people, and the old ones did not speak English! Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed the tour, although I would humbly offer 2 suggestions that would have improved it: 1) to establish whether people at a slower pace want to see everything or less things at a more relaxed pace; 2) for the tour guide to leave pauses between the sentences or the main points to allow people to translate. So, what else can I say? Go for it and enjoy! | ||||||

| I booked the red Chevy convertible tour as a surprise 40th bday gift to my husband. We both LOVED it! We were staying in the city for 4 nights and took the tour on our first night there. It was a great way to see the city and learn some history about the various neighborhoods, while simultaneously traveling in a fantastic vehicle. We got many comments and whistles from passersby, adding to the fun ambience. Our driver was Isaac. He was wonderful - personable, friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. We loved the fact that he knew the back routes and lesser known (ie non-touristy) eating and drinking establishments. By the time we finished our tour, we felt we'd made a new friend in Isaac. We would wholeheartedly recommend this particular tour to anyone looking for a unique approach to a "city tour". | ||||||

| There were only the three of us.....husband, wife and sister of husband. Isaac furnished his own car, and we were able to take advantage of some of the off-the-beaten path sights such as Cony Island. Very enjoyable, and we have already referred this activity to people from the West Coast that love New York as much as we do. Needless to say, we did not eat dinner that night with all of the wonderful snacks along the route. | ||||||

| We did a Sunday morning tour with Isaac and had the best time ever! It already started with the call from New York Fun Tours early in the morning to provide some final details such as the name and cell phone number of our driver. When we indicated that we were planning on having breakfast at the Cornelia Street Cafe, they were kind enough to inform us that the cafe would not open until 10, so that we had to find another place for breakfast. At their recommendation we went to Grey's Dog Coffee, which provided a very good start of the day. After breakfast, we met Isaac for our tour. The weather was amazing: blue skies, lots of sun, but a bit chilly (end of November....). A perfect day for cruising New York in a red oldtimer convertible! Isaac is a very experienced tour guide with a great sense of humor! He really knows a lot about the city, its buildings and its people. Two in our group were first time visitors and one was a local, but all of us learned a lot! I would definitely recommend this tour to both tourists and locals. There is no better way to see the city than from the back of an oldimer convertible! Great value for money and an unforgettable experience! | ||||||

| Issac, our tour guide went out of his way to personalize the trip , and provide a most unique experience. Not only was he a terrific driver, but also one of the better tour guides that I have ever encountered. His knowledge of Soho, The Village and in particular the various areas of Brooklyn was totally impressive. Actually, I suggested to him that he should put together his own tour guide book. If your other drivers have as much knowledge and personality, Fun Tours would be very lucky. He made riding and walking around on a hot Sunday afternoon a pleasure. I liked the idea that the trip was personalized so that we saw many things that we wanted to see, and that Issac was well versed in his history of each area. | ||||||

| We were met on time by the chauffeur, Isaac, who came armed with ice cold bottles of water and a sunny smile! He was very welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic about his city and told us all about it in a relaxed and comfortable manner. HIs knowledge was considerable and he was able to answer all our questions. There was hardly a moment when he wasn't telling us something about the city and its sights. He also knew all the best vantage points and stopped to give us time to take photographs. It was certainly an education and the two and a half hours the trip took flew by all too quickly. All in all, a throughly enjoyable experience - without doubt the highlight of our four days in NYC and we can recommend this to any visitor to the city without hesitation. | ||||||

| Yeah, absoutely fantastic. My family and I (from Carballo (La Coruna) and Albox (Almeria), Spain) enjoyed every second of the tour. The people at New York Fun Tours was so kind and helpful that really made a difference. The limousine trip was great of course, but we all expected that. It was the way people treated us and how well they had everything organized that really made us feel comfortable and satisfied with the experience. We requested a Spanish translation package and that was also a success for all non-English speakers in the group. Thanks very much to the teams at New York Fun Tours and Zerve.com. Gracias. Juan A. | Bought this tour as a gift for family member and wife. They loved the unusual experience. Vintage auto was immaculate, tour excellent. Took in places you could never track down without local knowledge. Isaac, the chaufeur/guide, highly commended for bringing cup cakes as a birthday treat and making the tour unforgetable! Great no hassle booking with Zerve. | ||||||

| I booked this tour as a surprise for my mother on our recent trip to New York. It was her first time in New York and my 8th so I wanted to find something that would interest us both, and this really did. My mother's face as she rounded the corner to see the car we would be travelling in was priceless. And Isaac deserves huge praise for being the perfect host, showing us sights that we would otherwise have missed. I would heartily recommend this tour to anyone wanting something a little bit more personal than many other tours on offer ... and it's a great feeling cruising around Greenwich Village and SoHo and watching the heads turn to look at the beautiful car! Only tip - if you are planning to do this tour during the autumn months, it can get chilly in the car, so take a hat! | ||||||
