Low on historical facts, high on repetition

This tour could have been amazing If: --the guide had a better script. Annapolis has numerous stories into which a few lines of ghostly myth and humor would have been enough. --the guide was an actor. Surely there are talented actors who would find opportunity in this kind of work. As it was our out-of-town guests and we, who have lived in Annapollis for 12 years, were bored and embarrassed that we were still there after the first 10 minutes. Please let us know when you make changes. We would like a night time downtown Annapolis tour for our out-of-town guests.

Somewhat entertaining

The crawl was fairly entertaining, but not as good as other ghost tours I have been on. Actual stories were not fleshed out at all. Just vague stories about objects being moved or missing. The stories about the people who were haunting the places were very sparse as well. Also, when they tell you not to be late, they mean it. Don't bother to call them like it says when you book the tour because they aren't going to wait for you. You may as well just show up and take your chances since you already paid for it. And go to the bath room before you leave the first pub, it may be a while before you see another one. We spent quite a while walking around down town between the first and second pubs. Overall it was fun and I didn't feel like I was totally ripped off, but I have been to better.

A fun, relaxing tour

We had a good time on this tour. It certainly helps if you are with a fun group. Some of the stories are corny, but if you drink enough & your group is fun, you won't even notice!

Don't think I'd do it again.....

For starters, the right hand didn't know what the left was doing. I will be brief and say that the tour people are on a different schedule than was provided at the time the tickets were purchased. There were four couples signed up for the tour, and two of them quit after the first pub. Part of the reason was because of the initial confusion, and part of the reason was because it was hard to hear the guide. I guess they thought it was going to be a private tour with no other customers in the pubs, or maybe they really wanted to take it seriously. If you plan to take it seriously, take a regular ghost tour and skip the "crawl". If you're doing it for something different and want to have a good time, then give it a try. It was a good history lesson, but not very scary. It was cool to hang out with the other couple that decided to stick around. All in all, like everything else in life, it is what you make of it.

Disgusted

After waiting outside the check in / meeting place or so we thought we decided to go inside and check in. The woman at the counter took our names gave us our bracelets and sent us to the actual meeting place. we met some other tour guest that were waiting for our guide. 15 minutes past the time the tour was suppose to begin we went back to the check in area and asked where our guide was? She showed up and led us to the first meeting place again. this was now a half hour after the tour start time. The tour guide proceded to tell us of one of the haunts that nobody could here her it was so loud. My date and another couple just walked away in disgust. So basicly I paid 44 dollars for 2 glow in the dark bracelets. And I now you won't print this!! Absolutly horrible. What would make me happy is a total refund or tickets for somrthing else that is more organized.

This was a blast! Our guide was fabulous; the pubs were historic and fun, and we learned A LOT about the history of the area. Our guide made this a very special and fun night, as we were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday. I would highly recomend this tour! I can't wait to do it again!!!

Different and very unique

The Ghost Tour of Annapolis, MD was attended by me and my four daughters. Their ages are 21, 18, 16 & 16. I would not recommend the tour for children that are less than 13 years of age. My family is very intrigued with ghost stories and found the Annapolis tour a very unique method of learning the local legends and the current day bizarre happenings. We heard the historical stories in addition to the stories of people that are currently having issues with ghost from hundreds of years ago. The guide that was giving the tour was passionate when telling the legendary happenings, but also the knowledge about the historical aspects of the city was quite impressive. During the tour, two of my daughters took pictures by digital cameras. After review of the pictures while still at the location, the picture showed children and adult faces staring through the windows. Staring back up at the windows, nothing was there! One house showed that all the lights were on when in fact it stood pitch black. I don’t know if it was ghost, but something definitely existed within the visited homes. Spoookkkyyy …. I have recommended the tour to others and my entire family found it a very unique way to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday! The only down fall was the parking! Not only was it difficult to find some (even in the parking garages), once it was found you had to figure out where you were it was in conjunction to the “meet up” location. Make sure that you leave yourself plenty of time before the arrival (no less than an hour!) Make sure you remember IT IS A WALKING TOUR – NO HIGH HEELS!

I might as well have just thrown my money away

Lots of talk about bringing your camera and recording equipment, with plenty of reminders to the the effect that the camera sees what the eye may miss. It's not outright lying, but it certainly suggests a whole lot more adventure than standing outside a building and listening to an overly dramatic guide tell you an overly long tale of something that is reported to have happened inside. All four people in my party felt that we had been scammed. I finally asked the guide if we were actually going to go inside any buildings, and she said "No. We are visiting all private properties and would not be going inside." At that point, we all turned and left the group. We went back to the Maryland Inn and, lo and behold, a bit later our guide arrived followed by the tourists who had remained with her - "inside" the Maryland Inn.

Best Ghost Tour/Pub Crawl I've ever been on...

Very well presentation. Some good special drinks on the crawl. Interesting information, much of it followed information I researched prior to going out. Only bad thing was a few loud, drunk people on the tour that wouldn't shut up while the tour guide was talking.

The tour was really fun and the guide was exceptional and full of energy. It was also informative in was that a house tour isn't. Would do it again.

We had a nice time overall. The one thing I would say is online you state a ninty minute tour. The tour took more than 2 hours. But the guide was funny and the tour was nice...

Interesting, but could be better

We liked the concept and enjoyed ourselves at first, but the tour ran too long. Our guide tried too hard to get us to believe, rather than just entertaining us with a bit of history and local tales. Would have preferred less pictures of ghosts and orbs and more entertaining stories.

Ghost Tour Mixed
Sat, Aug 5, 06   9:00 PM Act2Scene2 Male 30-39 Local Couple on a Date
Mixed review on the Annapolis ghost tour. Tour guide was at times too goofy and melodramatic, which eliminated the scariness of the stories. She also often repeated similar phrases at different sites. In many locations, her odd inflections were distracting and could not be heard and some parts of the stories were missed by many. It seems the tour needs more research for many of the stories. Some of her reactions seemed amateurish and false. More time was needed for photo-taking and less time for the high scool dramatics. Definitely less time on how previous tour groups thought this or that was scary. Nix all stories on that little boy and the evps. On the other hand, she knew quite a bit about certain sites and when not acting goofy, she was very personable and informative. All in all the tour had a few scary parts and a few interesting stories. It could be phenomenal with a few changes in presentation and beefing up the research on stories.
