Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour

For a Canadian couple who only saw what happened during 9-11 through media reports, this was an excellent way to better understand the heroism that took place following the tragedy. You hear directly from the photographer what he saw and experienced while police and firefighters spent months searching through the rubble. It's not just about seeing the photographs and artifacts, but about hearing the stories of those that dedicated their lives to making the clean-up meaningful to those who survived and families grieving those who did not. A moving, powerful exhibit for anyone comfortable feeling emotional and wanting to remember the devestation. I would not recommend this exhibit for small children.

I liked the video, solid samples, photos on the walls and the writings on the wall.

this is a vivid and sensitive reminder of this infamous day. not to be classified as an enjoyable experience, but rather an unforgettable one that helps us understand the sufferings of the thousands of people and families that were affected......... we shall never forget!

i would rather reccomend to visit that small museum than to go to Grand Zero

Strongly suggest taking in this one room museum of 9/11 photos BEFORE going to the 9/11 Memorial site. The photos and artifacts in this museum are powerful, emotional and inspirational all at the same time. Really like that the photographer told the story that accompanies each photo through the use of a headset. You will need two hours if you really want to see and hear it all. It totally brings back the events of that day and following weeks...lest we forget!

My wife and I were overwhelmed by what we saw in the museum. It is a must for every American, and by that I mean those that love the USA. Many of the photos brought tears to our eyes. The devastation and the useless loss of lives, what a waste. Those that committed this heinous crime against humanity should burn in Hell.

The location is an apartment in the Meat Packing district. Easy to get to via 14th Street subway. Our tour consisted of 12 people and lasted 2hrs. You are greeted at your appointed time at the entrance by your host. Inside you are seated with your 'tour mate' a hand held device that provides audio commentary for the exhibits and shown a short introductory video. This is supplemented by commentary from your host. You are then free to view the many exhibits and photographs on show. The tour provides a unique insight into the events at ground zero post 9/11 at a very personal level and provides background to many of the human stories, in particular those involving the rescue workers and their families. It is a must for anyone working in the emergency services. I strongly recommend that you visit after you have been to ground zero to understand that scale of the challenge that those brave men and women faced following this terrible event and the fantastic memorial that has been built on their efforts.

Af first we thought that the museum was quite small. However, after a heartfelt introduction by the host we toured the room listening to the commentary, via the headphones, about each photograph and exhibit by the official photographer himself. The fact that you were effectively in a private world listening to someone who had such a close relationship with the people involved, contributed to a moving and unique experience. Visiting New York for the first time we left feeling much closer to the events of 911 and quite emotional..
