| I went to this museum with my darling Chris who had been there in 2008. We were very very lucky that Gary Suson was actually present and we had the pleasure of meeting him personally. The museum is actually housed in his old apartment where he took the first pictures of the attack on the twin towers.
The museum trip was fantastic and has some great photos and artifacts and some of the stories are heart breaking but not to be missed. We were there for about 2 hours and this is a visit every one should make when they are visiting New York.
I would suggest doing this then going to see the ground zero site afterwards as it means so much more after seeing all the pictures and hearing the stories.
Thanks Gary for all the photos and stories

| My mother and I decided to visit the Ground Zero Museum on our yearly day trip to NYC. We were a bit hesitant because of the emotionality connected to the event, but are both very glad that we experienced it. It gives you an up close perspective that I really don't think you can experience anywhere else. It's a medium sized room with pictures and artifacts from Ground Zero. They provide you with one of those portable phone like devices and you punch in a number than corresponds with a picture or artifact and the photographer gives a narration. Everything is done in a manner that allows the museum goer to experience the aftermath of the attacks while still honoring and respecting the individuals that lost their lives and were involved in the recovery efforts. Using the device allows each individual to experience the museum at their own pace. The museum is a true memorial to that time in our country's history and to it's enduring strength and I hope will remain long after the site of the towers is rebuilt. |

| Thoroughly enjoyed the museum as well as the experience. It was great as an out of state visitor to have a connection to the 9/11 tragedy. It became more real to me and was done in a very positive way. |

| This is a moving reminder of the 911 tragedy. The museum has managed to accurately yet sensitively document the recovery process through photos and artifacts recovered. It pays respect to those who died, those who lost loved ones, and to firefighters, police and others involved in the clean-up and recovery. Though the museum is compact, you won't be disappointed. I believe this is a "must-see" for all interested in visiting Ground Zero. |

| Was not sure what to expect, was a little surprised at how small the actual museum was. By the time we were done, we were there the entire alotted time taking in all of the information and images. Really made us go back and rethink 9/11 as participants in the rescue rather than just watching the images provided by the news. Very personal! Would definitely recommend to others. |

| We would recommend this museum as it truly reflects what it was like on 9/11 and we weren't even there when it happened. |

| Eight of us ladies (from Florida) took the tour/workshop and found it very interesting and informative. Since we each had headphones, we could wander the room independently and concentrate on the stories of interest. I think it is important that we don't become complacent, or forget what happened on that dreadful day, Sept 11, 2001. I would definately recommend this tour. |

| I have been to NYC 5 times for girls only trips...no kids, no husbands and LOTS of shopping. After this many trips, we really don't do tours or museums anymore. However, we did hear about this museum from a friend and decided to go. As it so happens, all of us are police officers, and are all married to police officers. I have seen Ground Zero in it's various phases, and that in itself was very emotional. But, to see this memorial, the pictures, artifacts, short film, and to hear the stories behind the pictures...and the radio transmissions....was almost too much to take. We took an oath to protect and serve, and I cannot imagine the helpless feelings of the NYPD and FDNY and ALL the other agencies that could not fulfill this oath for everyone on that day. As for the families, I could not even begin to fathom their heartache. Seeing these items and pictures first hand really refreshes the pain. The pictures really capture the emotions and did not appear to be intrusive. I personally did not know anyone in the towers, but nonetheless, mourn for them and the tremendous loss to their familes. I am very glad that we took this tour, and I am grateful for the oppurtunity to see up close the things that this museum provided. Job well done.
Note: Have your tissues ready BEFORE the film starts. |
