Don't let the size fool you

I wasn't sure what to expect when arriving at the Ground Zero Museum. The outside of the building is deceiving and so is the inside. When you first enter you may think it's small, but it packs a powerful emotional punch. I left emotionally drained and glad that I stumbled upon the website that led me to the museum. We spent over two hours going over the pictures there and I hope that the museum continues to grow and that people will never forget what happened on September 11th.

Highly Offensive

I found the exhibit to be in extremely poor taste. Artifacts from a site where nearly 3000 people murdered on the fifth anniversary of 9-11 were displayed like a circus freak show; broken glasses, a mangled keyboard, dirt, glasses, a firefighter's glove... Don't know how they got the stuff, but as a New Yorker, I consider Ground Zero hallowed ground, and I hope every New Yorker is just as shocked and offended by the vulgar and tastless display of murdered innocence and heroism. I was told the proceeds from the admission and book sales go to 'a charity'. I was not told which charity. The photographer was too busy autographing his books.

it was really special to hear directly from the photographer and a firefighter who was in the WTC.

It was necessary to be remembered of the terror that happened that day because I never want to forgot all of the lives that were lost on 9/11. It was very emotional and spiritual. I am very glad I went.

I became interested in the tour due to Gary Suson's integration in Ground Zero. The workshop reflects his close proximity to being in the pit, below ground and interfacing with the different authorities that commanded the activities. The photographs, displays and video footage at the museum gives you a very good insight on what it was like to be there. I was impressed and would recommend it to anyone.

interesting and very thoughtful exhibition

The museum is a thoughtful and carefully put together exhibtion of photographs and artifacts from the Ground Zero site as well as interviews and presentations. The room itself is very small and can be a bit crowded for 24 people but the small size also adds to the feeling in the space. Excellent and very provoking photographs, full of the emotion and horror of that tragic day.

Small place with nice and very touching pictures, very nice tribute to the NY firefighters.

Emotional, good but too expensive

One small room creates a special atmosphere but disappointes according to the price. There are roundabout 100 pictures and items you can get an audio commentary for. I think the main goal of the GZMW is not to present a lot of information or pictures, but to create an emotional basis. Including admistration fee nearly 30 $ is too expensive for this visit.

Well worth a visit

I am lucky enough that I didn't know anyone who was directly affected by 9/11, but it was something that I wanted to gain a better understanding of. The way the images and artefacts are set out in the room make it a very personal experience. It also makes it special that the narrator is the actual photographer, and he really conveys his emotion as he's explaining the scenario and situation behind each photo. It's definely a moving experience and allows you to understand exactly what happened on that day, and also what has happened since then in the aftermath and the recovery process. Highly recommend it!!

Fascinating museum. On arrival you are met by 2 girls who are very friendly and knowledgable. The museum itself is one room and I did think I would be in and out in 10 mins. I was there for 2 hours. You are left to look at each item yourself using your headset and it was very moving. There was an item that we were told not to photograph and to be honest I did not feel comfortable with this object being part of the museum. Apart from that though, an excellent couple of hours and I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone.
