Moving & Memorable Visit to the Ground Zero Museum
Fri, Apr 20, 07   11:30 AM Pinklady1967 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Greg and I visited the Ground Zero Museum on Friday 20th April 2007 whilst on Holiday in New York. We both found the Museum informative and interesting and felt very moved and emotional after our visit. The photographs that were on display highlighted some of the terrible sights and conditions that the rescue workers were faced with. It is hard to imagine what everybody on site, not to mention the families and friends of the people who were killed, went through. Thank you for allowing us to visit the Museum. This workshop contains unique and original facts and artifacts of 9/11 events and the following days. Everything is presented in detail and with much respect and honor for all involved. The excellent presentation of the material helps you understand the feelings experienced during that time. This workshop should be available nation wide in order that no one should forget 9/11.

I would just like to say a big thank you to you from us all, for your truly amazing insight into what it was like at Ground Zero for the firefighters of NYC. The girls and I all came away with a feeling we couldn't describe, and through your work we can now understand how much life changed that day, and how we shall never forget. Ground Zero Museum was excellent

This museum helped me to connect with the 9/11 tragedy in a way that an actual visit to Ground Zero did not. I had not visited the Ground Zero site until now and it is basically now a construction site. The museum allowed me to really get a feel for the enormity of the tragedy and what the recovery effort was like. Having the hand held audio that told a story about each picture and item was very effective. I was especially moved by the pieces of glass from the buildings and the piece of the airplane wing. I was also glad that they limited the number of people in the museum at any one time, and that you were allowed to stay as long as you liked - they did not rush you through so another group could come in. The whole atmosphere was one of reverence and respect for the lives that were lost.

The whole process went smoothly and easy. The purchase of the tickets were easily acquired online and printed out of my own printer at home! I strongly recommend using this service. Thanks, Kayla Stokes Louisiana

We got caught up in circumstances and were unable to attend the tour, although we had been looking forward to visiting the Museum.

Outstanding - you have to see this!

When we arrived we stuck to the instructions about the timings. We were then greeted at the door by Gary Suson himself. We thought first of all that we were in the wrong place - it was a small room with photos and we wondered what else there was. There didn't have to be anything else. The video reduced us (me and the kids) to tears. Gary then introduced some of the photos and the artifacts and then we were left with mobile devices so that we could choose commentary for the photos that we were attracted to. Gary was there to answer questions as and when we had them. I think we may have been lucky to get the man himself but regardless of that, the whole exhibition was amazing and so thought-provoking. 9/11 made a big impact onthe world, even in the UK, which is where we are from, and somehow the sensitivity of this experience has grounded me - 5 1/2 years on. Please go and see this - it is moving to bigger premises around July 2007 - and don't be fooled by the simplicity. I just spent 5 days in NYC and now I am home in the UK I can honestly say that this tour was the most outstanding thing that I did.

Very unimpressed

My husband and I were due to attend the 2:30pm tour on Saturday 7th April. Due to our previous tour finishing early and the extremely cold weather we arrived early and pressed the buzzer on the door to ask if by chance you had spaces on an earlier tour and if it would be at all possible to change the time. We were informed by a very rude woman that a tour was currently in progress and to come back at 2:30pm. She then proceeded to hang up on me. Due to her attitude we were discouraged from waiting around to take your tour and left immediately. Even if it was not possible to change the time, I would have expected the person to be curteous.

Well worth seeing, the hosts were most helpful, very interesting, this tour gave a more personal perspective on 9/11 rather than what the media protrayed.

I found the museum workshop via Zerve when I was booking our "Sex and the City" tour. It sounded interesting and it was inexpensive so I booked a reservation. When you first walk in to the museum workshop, you will really find it small and wonder how it can do justice to the magnitude of September 11. When you leave, you won't feel that way anymore. Touching pieces of the World Trade Center's glass and steel. Seeing a piece of flight 11's wreckage. And hearing first had from Gary Suson about what he went through. All of it was moving. I already recommended it to a Native New Yorker while in line at a restaurant and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who's going to by in NYC.
