Worth the money

We did not know what to expect for the money. When we arrived at the apartment sized museum, I was kinda disappointed with the size. After the artist (Gary) showed us the video and talked... we got to look at the phots and 'things' and use the phones to hear stories. I did not cry like I thought I would-- but there is one picture of 2 girls singing and that teared me up. Later, my sister, brother and I went to the site and viewed those photos. Definately not the same effect. You may not get to meet Gary, but either way, the photos, videos and the dialogue through the phone make it worth it. Don't forget to eat at the Little Pie Company across the street. AND it is really easy to find this place. ALSO, arrive about 5 minutes before your ticket time or you will be outside in the cold. Never Forget.

A hidden treasure

While most of the people on our one day bus trip to NYC opted for shopping, my friends and I took a taxi to the ground zero workshop. We were met by the photographer himself.. a very humble man. His photographs were compelling and his narraration about his feelings and experiences while he was taking these photos were even more descriptive and emotional. We spent the full 1 1/2 hrs. and could've used more time. We were so glad we went!

ground zero museum

it would be better if the museum is located near the ground zero itself. i find the workshop tour not to be well attended, so there is little interaction and can be boring.

Ground Zero Museum - A MUST SEE
Tue, Dec 12, 06   11:30 AM jmiller Male 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I think out of respect to the victims and survivors of the events of 9-11-01 this very rare & special museum is a MUST SEE. The pictures & stories alone are powerful enough to move any American, not to mention the items displayed from the Ground Zero site. Don't let the size of the museum fool you. It may appear somewhat small in size at first, but once you realize the significance of what it is you're looking at, you'll be awe-struck.

Gary has done an excellent job of sharing his view of Ground Zero! The combination of his pictures and the artifacts takes one right back to the days and months after the terrorist attacks. I had the privilege of working at Ground Zero, specifically at Site One and St. Paul's Chapel between January and June, 2002 and this was my first trip back to New York since then. Spending part of my day with Gary and Joe was very special. Thank you so much Gary!!!! We will NEVER forget!!! Lauren

A small space that packs a powerful punch

This museum, a collection of the photographs of Gary Marlon Suson taken at Ground Zero during the recovery and also of artifacts from that time and space, is a very important and well done work. It brings you into the Pile. It is emotionally difficult but definitely a part of the story that should not be missed. Gary and retired firefighter, Joe Miccoli, are interesting speakers, welcoming hosts and willing providers of information. Thank you, guys. I will not forget this experience nor what you did for us during the recovery period.

A Must See in NY

While planning activities for an upcoming NY trip, I read about the Ground Zero Workshop & Museum on a travel website and knew that I absolutely must see it while I was there. I visited with my husband and parents the first week of December. We expected to see photos and artifacts but never expected the staging/presentation to be so overwhelming and moving. Put this at the top of your list.

Excellent and very moving

This was an excellent workshop. To be able to get close to the thoughts of those affected by this event and also view artefacts from ground zero was very thought provoking and moving. Visitors are also able to buy merchandise that raises money for those affected.
