Unlike any museum you've ever seen. Tasteful, personal, sad, and honorable... will tug at your heart strings like nothing else. A much needed respectful display to honor that day never to be forgotten. Our children were quite little when 911 happened. Now, at ages 13 and 15 it was a moving experience that placed the missing pieces together for them; and us as well. Just to give you an idea: not a big cold building but a quaint small room quiet and serene with more information and memories that you could ever imagine. You see, you touch, and you will feel. Although a very heavy experience, one that no true Native New-Yorker should miss. Tips...Don't be late, a short movie is first and nothing you ever ever seen on tv. Try to see the last tour so you can take your time...so much to see and hear about. Bring a camera for sure. And if Gary is coming...wait for him...meeting him was a healing moment. And gal pals...wear waterproof mascara if any at all. Families...do something fun afterward like wax museum. And last but not least.....please tell Gretchen (who is wonderful) that Kim sent you. last words....Worth every dollar and moment of our time, would do it again in a heart beat.

We enjoyted the museum as it filled informaiton not on the news at the time of the clean up of Ground Zero. The photographer came and spoke with the group, giving autographs of photos he had taken during the clean up of Ground Zero. This activity is highly recomended for everyone.

Reflections on the unimaginable events of 9/11

It was important for me that a trip to New York include some time reflecting on the events of September 11, 2001 and the rescue efforts that followed. I thought that the Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour was not only informative but tastefully presented. I am today still unbelieving of the events of that day and comforted by the vision of the rescue efforts by my fellow man. Thank you for this unmissable opportunity.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this museum and I wasn't sure if my children (twins age 8) would understand what it was about. I was deeply moved that despite its small size (like a studio apartment in NYC), the museum hits a perfect balance of respect and grace. It honors the fallen and the heroic rescuers without sensationalizing the horror of 9/11. It is a space that allows us to remember and mourn, but ultimately heal. The staff are compassionate, knowledgable and kind. My son said on the way out, "This is the best museum we have ever been to." It will move you to tears, but it is a must see in NYC.

Emotional

I could not believe all the things that were found in all that rubble. Very heart warming to see everyone working together to find surviors and people that did not make it, this is how people are suppose to work together not against each other. The sad part is a bad thing had to happen to get people to open their eyes and work together for one common goal. The sad thing is most people went back to just thinking about themselves again.

This was not exactly what we were thinking when we purchased our tickets. The room is very small & over crowded. Some facts were interesting but I didnt know I would be listening to a pre-recorded video. Trying to move around the room was difficult due to so many people & the room being small. Don't show up earlier cuz you'll just be standing around waiting for them to come down & open the door. I learned a few new facts & got some neat photos.

We thought the musem was very interesting and very well put together. The two people who spoke at the beginning of the tour were very knowlegable and made it a very relaxed tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the events of 9/11

Don't be apprehensive about attending, a must see!

I was very apprehensive about attending this workshop. I had many questions as to why I should attend. At first it seemed morbid to me and also seemed that I was giving the terrorists the publicity the were looking for. But I later realized when I attended that we are there to support the families and to never forget the people who were lost in this tragedy and the heoric people who didn't give a second thought to assisting at Ground Zero. This intimate workshop let me review the archives and pictures on my own. Even though other people were in the room with me the headphones let me hear and see what I wanted. I felt as if the author was talking directly to me.
