This was a great experience. At first glance it seems that it would only take five minutes to see the entire museum, but after almost 2 hours I was wondering if I could take it all in. It really brought everything home. We could see and FEEL ground zero. After the museum my group went to ground zero and it is an experience I will never forget.

Too much emphasis on the photographer.

This exhibition has the potential to be very interesting. However, there is way too much emphasis on the photographer Gary Suson. The museum seems to be more about him than Ground Zero. The stories are quite schmaltzy and it is almost easy to forget what a horrific event this actually was. In addition, there were some silly rules, like not being able to photograph the part of the aircraft yet being able to photograph everything else. There were some interesting stories like the beer cans and the dogs.

After experiencing this, my fiance and I looked at 9-11 with a whole new set of eyes. I would greatly recommend this workshop for anyone who comes to NYC and is looking for a tribute to those that died. We even had the chance to sit down and chat with the owner for a bit. GREAT EXPERIENCE!

I was so impressed by the museum I struggled to put it all into words. My first draft I went on so long the page expired and I had to start over. Really! So this is shorter. This is an amazing, heart-wrenching and beautifully done museum. It does a wonderful job telling the stories behind the pictures. Absolute must see. Brings the pain, sacrifice and humanity of that terrible day and the months to follow to a reality for those of us who weren't there. Thank you to Mr. Suson, the museum staff, and everyone else involved; you've done the victims, their families, and the recovery workers proud. I hope you are able to keep this gem going in some fashion after the National 9/11 museum is open. Debra - Springfield, IL

A truly poignant tour - will leave you reflective!

My husband and I have been to New York on a number of occasions and always make a point of paying our respects at Ground Zero. However, on this trip we wanted to understand a little more about what the working people of New York experienced on 9/11, so we did a web search to see what came up. The Ground Zero Workshop tour came up as being well worth a visit. I looked at reviews and we made the decision based on recommendations to 'give it a go'. I am so glad we did not miss this exhibition. It was heartwrenching..... but at the same time was so informative that it allowed us to have greater empathy with those involved in the rescue process, as well as those who tragically suffered. The photos by Gary Suson are amazing and each one comes with a story. Some of the stores made me so angry, particularly Deutsche Bank, but others made us reflective such as the Geidel brothers - just go and see for yourself and you will understand what I mean. I doubt anyone could walk away from this tour without a tear in their eye or a lump in their throat. Both my husband and I learnt so much in a manner that was presented so sensitively and respectfully. This is a truly awe-inspiring tour and we will recommend it to all our friends who are intending to visit New York in the future. AN ABSOLUTE MUST - PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T MISS IT!!

My wife and I visited the museum while on trip to New York, not knowing what to expect. When you first enter the room and realize it 's all in one room, you figure it's not going to be that great. Were we wrong! There's an amazing amount of artifacts and photographs never before seen. The raw emotion that everthing brings out in you is surprising. The self-guided tour is great. You can tour the museum in any order you like. Everything is numbered and all you do is punch in the number and you hear a wonderful explanation of the piece by the photographer, Gary Suson. We were so lucky he was there that day to lead the tour and autograph souvenirs. He was happy to answer any and all questions and was so accomodating. His experiences were tough to hear, but you realize just how horrendous it was at Ground Zero for those many months. You can also handle many items taken from the site and you suddenly realize just how devastating Sept. 11 was. We highly recommend visiting this amazing jewel hidden in New York City! You'll never think of that day the same way.

I had the last tour of the day and was a bit late. That wasn't a problem at all. I just missed the first introduction. It started for me with an short intro from one of the girls, then a movie about 9/11 a how the founder got the idea of the museum. After the movie a short explanation about the headset and remote and then we could just browse around the museum, listening to the stories behind all the pictures. It was good, you could walk around at your own pace and listen to only the stories your interested in. The founder was actually there, just working behind his computer. Don't really know what to think of that... Overall a good tour with impressive stories. If you take the last tour, you can walk around as long as you like. p.s. its not near the actual location of ground zero.

A poignant, thought provoking experience

After having visited Ground Zero to pay our repects on the morning prior to our visit to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop, we weren't too sure what to expect. Gary Suson presented a respectful and heart rending introduction to his work. For an overseas visitor who experienced 9/11 and the aftermath through a TV set, Gary helps one to begin to understand how terrible the tragedy was and continues to be for those wonderful, caring rescue workers, and others who were bereaved, those who lost friends, loved ones, colleagues and family on that awful day. The commentary that accompanies the artefacts is very moving and Gary presents a humbling insight into the work that continued in the search for those that died. Gary's work has not glorified the tragedy but shows it as it was day after day as the search continued. His work will live on as a testament to those awful months. We have recommended the Ground Zero Workshop Museum to many people during our short visit and if we hear of any friends or family visiting New York, we will tell them it is a must see experience to help them understand also. Our hearts went out to New York on that fateful day and now we applaud you. Sue and Alan Looseley England Visited 25 February 2007

Very worthy & moving but may not be suitable for everyone, particularly children unless they are closely supervised.
