Small but Condensed

I did not expect the museum to be so small. However, as the guide described, the museum is one of the smallest but condensed (I don't quite remember the exact word, something like that sort of meaning). It's a pity that my group members did not understand English very well.

Omg what a marvellous yet emotional time we had! It's well thought out to respect the emotions of everyone who visited! Lots of information on that tragic day. Well worth a visit before you go to Ground Zero itself. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Our thoughts will always be with the familes of those that died. Xx

Thought-provoking

It was sobering to see the photos and listen to the narration that accompanied each one. The $25 per-person entry fee seems a bit steep. However, since it is shared with 9/11 charities, we feel it is acceptable (although reduced admission for children and students may be appropriate).

Moving Tribute to 9/11 in pictures

The moving photos in this museum capture the dedication and toil of the people, particularly the Fire Department, searching and clearing the site in the aftermath of the disaster.

Small & quaint but the artifacts are powerful.

We had read the posts from previous visitors and decided to check the museum out. The staff and guides of this quaint museum were very helpful with information of their artifacts. The short film clip was very informative of behind the scenes to the 9/11 search and rescue and we learned a lot of what the public did not hear about. The room is filled with artifacts from actual findings of the 9/11 area which is a powerful vibe to those who experienced this tragic event. I felt a huge emotional feeling when I leaned down to "touch" a fireman's piece of equipment gear. Yes, there is a lot of sadness, but there is also a lot of hope and a sense of human faith in what we learned at this museum. There are uplifting stories that you will not hear anywhere else. My friends and I agreed that when we came out of there we all felt a sense of closeness to those who experienced the aftermath of 9/11. This museum is off the beaten path from ground zero in the Meatpacking district but it is well worth the visit. I highly recommend this museum and I also highly recommend spending some time visiting the great shops, stores and restaurants in the Meatpacking district and it's only a block away from the beautiful High Line elevated Park which is an old railway bridge and overlooks areas of the Hudson River. Once again, I recommend a visit to this museum to feel extremely close to a piece of history that touched everyone's heart and soul on that day in 2001. Pat Knecht Calgary, AB, Canada

Empathic and Intimate Museum

I found the museum well laid out and easy to follow. The headsets and the numbers of the photographs made it very easy to explore the museum in your own time privately. The small room was intimate and personal and enabled me to share in the emotions of the people who suffered this terrible tragedy. The museum gave a very personal and human face to the terror attack on 9/11. Gary Susan also extracted some amazing "coincidences" as displayed by the page of the Bible that was found open. He certainly achieved his objective that we must never forget.

ground zero museum & workshop provided a wonderful insight into just what happened that fateful day and how many lives it touched. It highlighted such great acts of bravery, the dedication of the first responders and recovery teams and all done with such great dignity. Would recommend this tour to everyone who visits New York

Not to be missed.

The photography was excellent and the commentary behind each picture was very informative and in most cases very moving. It demonstrated the courage and indefatigability of the fire and police services and all others involved in this immense task. We are so glad that we learned of this museum from our friends who visited it last year. We also visited Ground Zero and St. Paul's Church. My wife and I both feel that it is not as well publicised as it should be. We will recommend it to all fellow Scots planning to visit New York.

This little museum is absolutely breathtaking. Each story gives you a much better knowledge and understanding of what happened and all the emotions that are still present through this day about 9/11.
