Powerful visual and aural insights

I found the Ground Zero Workshop Museum on the web by chance whilst Googling for things to do on our recent first visit to NYC, DC and Williamsburg. Our visit was without doubt the highlight of the whole trip. Stark, vivid and emotional images captured by the artist's camera are brought to life by the informative guides and the excellent self guided audio tour. The latter in particular was impressive, with the artist's voiceover complimented by soundtracks taken from that fateful day and shortly afterwards. The most vivid of many memories I took away were the emotion of images portraying the retired cops & firefighters looking for thier missing sons and the seeming official indifference to the financial plight of the firefighter who contracted throat cancer from breathing in toxic fumes and the attitude of the insurers who prevented access to the Deutsche Bank building for four years!!

Good, but over priced

The content was interesting and the commentary on the headsets well done - not too much talking, but enough to bring the photos alive. For $15 this would have been a highly recommended experience. But for almost $30 - simply over-priced.

I was so thankful we ( a group of 3 friends) decided to do this activity. The museum is put together so well with all the displays of the photographs and artifacts. Listening to the audio narration that told the stories behind each picture was so fascinating. It almost felt like you were right there at the time of the recovery. It was a very emotional experience for me. Everything is done in such a respectful and meaningful way. I would highly recommend this event.

Very moving experience

The Ground Zero Museum was a very moving and emotional experience. The museum is very small and my first thought was 'is this all there is?'...however, even though the room is small, there are many exhibits, each with an audio description, so it is very easy to spend 2 hours there. I highly recommend this tour.

Carol and I visited the ground Zero museum on Aug 21, 2008. As we began the tour of the pictures, I was fascinated by the stories. After I finally looked up (came up for air) we were the only ones left in the room from a tour of about 12. Thank you for your efforts in preserving the many stories.

Highly recommended

Hearing the stories behind the photos was very moving. Shows the dedication, commitment and heartache that continued during the cleanup and after the events of 9/11 were no longer in the daily headlines. It is powerful and at times, can be overwhelming, but we highly recommend it.

A Great Tribute

The Ground Zero Workshop is an important reminder of the tragedy and the determination of the human spirit that was 9/11. The exhibit is done with reverence and dignifies all those who lost their lives as well as those who came to the rescue. Don't pass the chance to partake in this very moving experience.

A way to experience 9/11 from inside.

We found the museum to be very interesting but also very respectful to those who lost loved ones in the 9/ll tragedy. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The tour is self led so one can spend as much time as needed to get information on the photos in the exhibit. Watch carefully for the banner on the building as we walked right by on the opposite side of the street without seeing it!
