When we first entered the museum, we were doubtful as to what it would be, because it was one small room only. Well we have the pleasure of the currator/ creator, Gary there with us, and his staff of 2. Gary began the presentation and then turned it over to his assistant. They gave us a brief descriprions of the various pictures and some other background on various things relating to the exhibit. After that the tour was at our own speed with the use of prerecorded listening devices. Each picture had a number that corresponded to handheld listening device, which told the story behind the picture. We were free to do as we pleased at our own pace and re listen to things if we didn;t fully understand what we heard the first time. This museum even though it was as small as it is, gave a better first hand story of what really went on during the recovery, than any of the major news outlets worldwide. This probably was because of the access the photographer was given and the expertise in which he did his job. There are no pictures of anything that people could consider morbid ( no dead bodies or remains of any kind we photographed) by request of he Fire Department. He put into pictures what no other news reporter or other camerman was able too. For anyone who visits New York and does not go to see this exhibit, you are missing out on the truly greatest story of the horrific events of 9/11. This exhibit hopefully will forever remain the fitting tribute to the hero's of that tragic day.

Now We Won't Ever Forget

With this exhibit we will not forget the people, the images, the pain, the loss and our hearts can hold 9/11 to honor and remember our fallen fellow USA citizens. Even thought this was such a horrible thing and you see the picture with the big WHY? someone had written and we truly cannot understand you can still see the hand of God and khow he protected so many and even though we don't understand we know that His ways are higher and bigger than ours are and He is truly in control. He writes the final chapter in life and in the end He will prevail against all of this evil. Then all will know that He is the one and only true God. Thank you for sharing this exhibit with us. It spoke volumes to me and my children.

The Ground Zero Workshop/Museum is a vital part of the history of what happened on 9/11. It's a small and intimate tribute to those firefighters who not only gave their lives while trying to save people, but to their "brothers and sisters" who worked their hearts out in the lengthy post-collapse recovery efforts. With sound clips from FDNY radios to the crosses and Star of David cut from steel beams to a section of airplane, plus many other items from the tragedy as well as incredible photos, visitors are "up close and personal" with artifacts and memories. This museum offers a tactile experience as well as viewing with only the eyes. There is nothing like it in the world, and it should be on everyone's "short list" of places to visit in New York City.

Lots of factual information on Ground Zero

Our efforts to find the Ground Zero Museum were indeed rewarded. The two hour tour of the museum was very informative and I highly recommend this to visitors to New York. The photos and artifacts gives a good feeling of what it must have been like to be part of the rescue operations - a very emotional experience as well.

The photos and artifacts make the experience of 911 immediate and fresh, much like seeing the oil rising from the submerged Arizona in Pearl Harbor. Even more compelling, however, are the many photographic records of the heroism shown by rescuers that day. Gary has a true artist's eye for capturing the experiences of those brave men and women and reminds us of the great debt this country owes them. Thank you for preserving this history in such a tasteful manner.

I met the owner in Florida and read his book while I was there, which made me cry so much but I had to visit the museum. It really puts you in touch with what happened that day and the horror of it all. You can get an even better understanding of what actually went on. The museum is done so well and keeps in mind the feelings of the survivors. Ex: a piece of the plane is on display, but in honor of the survivors feelings about it, they ask that you not take pictures of this one piece. I took a lot of pictures in the museum, but not that piece of course. I want to share them with a lot of friends and then when I know they are going to NY, I will recommend they go and visit this awesome museum. I would recommend it to everyone. GREAT job Gary!
