Amazing Experience
Fri, Nov 10, 06   11:30 AM bacardi1 Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Individual
What an amazing experience and i would 100% recommend that anyone considering going to The Ground Zero Workshop should definately go. Gary Marlon Suson was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. He explained eveything from the heart. It was the most moving and powerful experience i have ever been a part of. I also purchased the book which Gary personally signed and this to shows the scenes in so much detail, I also felt that where the money was going to charity was superb to. Also even the toilet was beautifully set out!! Since being back home i have told all my friends and family about the time i spent in the Workshop and have fully recommended when any of them travel to New York that this attraction is a must. Every penny spent was worth every second spent in the Workshop. The motto "Never Forget" is the most fitting tribute.

Intimate and thoughtful exhibit

Gary Marlon Suson's emotionally charged photographs combine with an impressive collection of artifacts from Ground Zero to create a sense of immediacy and intimacy, propellling the visitor into the heart of the Recovery effort. Suson's small gallery space contributes to the effectiveness of the visitor experience, humanizing and personalizing the visitor's encounter with this surreal time and space. The visitor is left with a deeper understanding of one man's experience of the Ground Zero Recovery, but this one experience is illustrated with an eye for the universal.

Not touched

I could not connect the artifacts I saw with the facts of that day. The images in documentaries are much stronger in my opinion. Also it is not like a museum, it is a small room and you have to be there at the correct time, you are not allowed to get in a few minutes before. Not recommended

Tastefully done, and had a strong emotional impact

I am glad I saw this exhibit. It was worthwhile, since it made the tragedy more real for those who live farther away, and reminded us of the immensity of what happened there.

It was a worth while experience. Gary Suson captured the emotion of the event that I have never seen before. It put a sense of reality into the whole viewing. After 5 years, it is still very emotional to go and see. I will be back to see it again.

The Essence of 9/11
Sat, Oct 7, 06   1:00 PM chill1977 Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Individual
This museum is a photographic journey into the depths of what occured that fateful day. More importantly, the story of 9/11 is shared in a tasteful way that honors the spirit of all those who have been affected by what took place. Although the many images communicate the pain and tragedy of 9/11 those same images also convey the beautiful spirit of the people of New York and their unwillingness to give up. The Ground Zero Museum is more than just a museum, it is an experience to be reflected upon and cherished- Gary Marlon Suson's photographs capture the essence of the human experience after 9/11 in a powerful and moving way that is not to be missed! Excellent presentation

I am a retired fire officer who served 20 years with the FDNY. The events of 9-11 touched me very deeply. I lost 343 fellow firefighters that hatefull day. I thought i was over the emotion of such a loss, but the museum presentation brought it all back like it was yesterday. I actually broke down during the initial video presentation, and Gary was very sympathetic to my display of emotions. He allowed me as much time as I needed to compose myself. Gary Suson has done a remarkable job in both, the research and the presentation of the events following 9-11. He spent numerous hours at the site and in the hole. His displays clearly reflect that effort. I highly recommend this exhibit to anyone and everyone. But, if you have any attachment to the events of 9-11, be prepared to become emotional. Thank you Bob Perry

This Museum was heartfelt and true to the lives of the fallen and trescuers. It gives much insight into what went on during and after the recovery effort.

Ground Zero Museum is not to be missed.

As soon as you enter this small but significant museum there is a feeling of reverence and awe. The WTC recovery comes alive in the photographs and artifacts. More importantly, Mr. Suson's work captures the essence of the human spirit and a power even greater than that. Every picture, every artifact, tells a story and allows the viewer to see through the eyes of those who were there. If you have the opportunity to visit this museum, make it a priority.

Compassion
Tue, Sep 19, 06   11:30 AM LINDAACIERNO Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
The artist/photographer/museum director documents the bravery the firemen exhibited during the recovery period at Ground Zero. The exhibits are a poignant reminder of the fragility and strength of humanity and the love shown in their reverence for those lost. The museum offers visitors a time for reflection and interaction. I continued onto Ground Zero by subway (at the museum director's suggestion) into the actual Ground Zero area below street level. It was an eerie experience seeing the concrete and steel beam skeltons while remembering the devistation. Ascending the escalator to street level and seeing the cross of steel beams was very emotional. I visited the new Tribute Museum where volunteers made up of survivors of victims and survivors of that day answer questions and lead tours of the area while talking of their experiences and feelings. It is a verbal history of the love and compassion that continues through these volunteers' efforts to keep memories of the love and compassion shown from around the world. The tear drop fountain is a very touching tribute also seen on the tour. My visit ended at Trinity Church with more pictures, momentos and verbal dialogue provided in a serene environment giving testimony to how goodness and light are demonstrated in the darkest of times.
