This museum should not be missed!

I would [and have] enthusastically recommend the Ground Zero Museum to anyone interested in the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site after 9/11. Mr. Suson's photographs and moving narration offer a truly up-close-and-personal glimpse into the harrowing and heroic efforts of all the people who risked their own lives to ensure that as many victims as possible could be recovered and returned to their families for proper burials. Stories of the K-9 units, the PATH trains and the Band of Fathers were details that were somehow missed by the 'media', but captured by Gary in intimate and fascinating detail. We were blessed to have the photographer appear halfway thru our tour and he graciously answered questions, thanked us for coming and further explained some of the stories behind the photos. Truly an experience not to be missed if you're traveling to NYC!!

A Respectful Compassionate Side of New York

I have traveled all over the world and have never had an experience like the one at the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. The photographs and artifacts, along with the narration, gave me a real feel for the for the whole aftermath of 9/ll. Everything was done with respect for all the families involved, compassion and, I think, even love for for all of the rescue workers. I enjoyed the use of individual headsets which let me listen with distractions and be in touch with my own thoughts. Many times I played the narration more than once to clarify something I didn't understand, but also because so many of the stories were so amazing that they were hard to believe the first time through. So much of New York City is hustle bustle - people passing each other without even a glance. This small museum is quiet, intimate, heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time. I highly recommend it to everyone visiting NYC. See Ground Zero and then head up to this quiet little retreat. You won't be disappointed.

Best Exhibit in NYC

The Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour is something every American should make time to see when visiting NYC. Photographer Gary Suson has done a remarkable job of documenting the post 9-11Recovery Process. His amazing photographs tell the touching and courageous stories of the many who gave months of their lives (including Mr. Suson) working at the post 9-11 Ground Zero site. A must see! Historically, it's every bit as important (if not more important) than a visit to Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty. This is a 5-star exhibit you will never regret viewing.

A Must See to Comprehend 9/11/01

The meat packing neigbhorhood has several places to eat and shops to browse on either the way to the museum or afterwards. The museum is small and very manageable if you only have 1.5 hours to spare. The photographs and artifacts are tasefully displayed and easy to view. Both the video and audio provide interesting background about some of the lives lost and about many of the amazing people who were involved in the rescue effort and the clean-up. It was an emotional experience and well worth the time.

This was one of the most moving experiences that I have ever had. The audio presentation of the exhibits is an awesome method to use to keep the interest of the technology-based teenager. I visited with my 17-year old son who has visited many "traditional" museums and remained mostly uninterested. We spent 2 hours at the Ground Zero Workshop Museum and he listened to every exhibit there. During our visit, he pointed out exhibits to make sure that I listened to them. We had quite a discussion after our visit. We were lucky enough to meet Gary Marlon Suson, who was there when we visited. I will be returning with my other teenagers soon.

I took two 10 year old twins to this museum. As we left, the girls turned to me and said, "Can we come back here sometime? " Both girls were touched by the museum...I felt the size was perfect for the girls and the personal, respectful nature of the staff added to their experience. Gary Suson was kind enough to take a picture of the girls with their cell phone which the girls treasure. I am a museum consultant, working on over 100 museums. I will tell you that this place is special because of the sensitivity and humanity that was characteristic of the design decisions.

This experience is a transport back to the very rough times of post 9/11. It was emotional and at times difficult and impossible to hold back the tears.

We are a family of six ranging from me at 57 to my wife, 47, three girls 15-19 and a 13 year old boy. All of us found the experience very special indeed. I well remember that terrible day in September 2001, when I was in Hong Kong and stayed up for most of the night. This was harrowing enough but I had no idea how terrible the aftermath proved to be, nor that more than 10% of casualties were members of the NYFD. We will remember this unique and insightful experience for a long time.
