Profoundly moving and informative

Without a doubt, this is the most meaningful museum that I have been to anywhere. Through Mr. Susson's lens, one experiences the horror and heartache of September 11th, but at the same time, visualizes the courage of the firefighters and other first responders who spent countless days at Ground Zero in their recovery efforts. I felt some element of closure having been to the museum and I am certain that my children now have a true understanding of why Mom and Dad cry when we speak about this terrible day in our Great Nation's history. If you have one museum to visit in New York City, make this the one. You will not be disappointed.

As soon as you enter this small but significant museum there is a feeling of reverence and awe. The WTC recovery comes alive in the photographs and artifacts. More importantly, Mr. Suson's work captures the essence of the human spirit and a power even greater than that. Every picture, every artifact, tells a story and allows the viewer to see through the eyes of those who were there. If you have the opportunity to visit this museum, make it a priority.

My husband, our two teenagers, and I thought this was one of the best things we did in NYC. This powerful one room museum will leave a lasting impression on you. Never forget the WTC.

Intimate Exhibit

This was truely a unique experience. Don't expect a large museum. This is a small studio with many original photos and artifacts. Our tour guide on this day was the founder and photographer who took the pictures and collected the artifacts. There were only 4 of us their at this time. The guide took considerable time with us and explained many aspects of a truely tragic day and months that followed 9/11. Again, don't expect a large museum, but a very intimate experiece to really get a unique perspective on 9/11, Well worth the time and money.

We visited this museum because my husband is a deputy fire chief in Massachusetts and like many others, watched the tragedy unfold on TV. While my initial reaction to this museum was "This is it ??" , due to its small size, it it just amazing how many artifacts, photographs and narrated stories of Ground Zero are actually in this museum. The stories give an in depth view of what it is like to be a firefighter in the aftermath of a disaster. It does not focus on the horrific act of 9/11 or the gruesome recovery of the bodies, but rather on the human spirit of triumph over tragedy. You will see unique photographs and hear stories of what went on at the Ground Zero site from the perspective of the official photographer hired by the fire department. It is a "MUST SEE" for anyone in the fire service or married to the fire service as it depicts the true nature of what this profession does, the sacrifices these people make, and the brotherhood that exists between firefighters that cannot be explained in words. You will "FEEL" sad when you look at a picture of a retired firefighter dad holding the fire helmet of his missing son, but you will "FEEL" joy holding one of the steel crosses or Stars of David that an iron worker cut from the wrecked steel beams of the towers so that each family that lost a loved one in the tragedy, has a piece of the building. You will leave this museum with an understanding that we must "NEVER FORGET".

I would definitely recommend the Ground Zero Museum Workshop tour as part of your visit to NYC. This is a unique experience in an intimate setting that brings you closer to the aftermath of the World Trade Center terrorist attack than any other place I've visited. Though its contained in a small room, I spent 2 hours listening to the stories behind the photographs and various objects recovered from the site. Spectacular!

I have done research, read magazines, watched news reals, spoken with people who experienced 911 and yet until I visited this museum I was not fulfilled with the information I had collected. I was able to finally let go of any kind of emotion that I had regarding this tragedy. All of my questions were answered and I finally felt relieved once I left. I would recommend this museum to EVERYONE!!!!

The Ground Zero Museum was my favorite activity of the whole vacation. What an amazing piece of work put together by Gary Suson! Listening to the descriptions of each picture, and seeing the efforts put into the recovery of Ground Zero was unbelievable. The museum is just 1 small room, but is FULL of loss, sorrow, hope, happiness, and memories that will make you NEVER FORGET! I highly recommend visiting this museum.

I visited this small museum with my husband and parents. I was a little nervous before entering as I didn't really want to be reminded of the pictures of those planes going into the twin towers but I needn't have woried; Gary Suson has created a museum which touches your heart by focusing on the rebuilding and recovery following that dreadful day. You were able to spend as much or little time as you liked, wondering around listening through your individual headset to the moving stories behind each beautifully taken photograph depicting the personal stories of many of those involved. When we left we didn't speak for a while as it took time to digest all the factual and poignant information but later we spoke at length about the effects of this disaster had on the extraordinary people effected, especially the loved ones left behind and the courageous workers who helped during that recovery period. It gave insite into what it was really like to be there compared to what we had seen in the media. Tasteful and touching it reminds us that we should never forget not just those that were lost but the people that are left behind and effected everyday by the events of 9/11.
