Dont' Miss This One -Well Worth the Time!
Sat, Mar 21  11:00 AM TKRDAYS Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
It was unexpected because we actually thought we booked the tour at the WTC site, instead we went to the Meatpacking District to an out of the way second floor studio. When we realized we misunderstood, we were somewhat anxious. But what an unexpected surprize. SO WORTH THE TIME! I have already told many friends around the country. This is truly one of Manhattan's best kept secrets. It is an educational tour, a very personal tour and an extremely moving tour! And No walking needed except around the room. Gary Suson has given himself through his hundreds of photographs and collection of artifacts so that the visitor feels what he felt, sees what he saw and walks away with a real understanding of what it was like from September 11th, and throughout the following year. I love the way he has allowed the visitor to tour at his own pace and spend as much time as you want with each photo or artifact. It is a great idea to have the earsets and the flexibility to aim the remote in any order you wish to hear his own words as he felt and saw it, each day. He basically lived with the rescuers day in and day out and the visitor gets to share and be a part of that experience. And if it gets too emotional, they always remind you that there are "anti-depressant chocolates in the restroom" :-) I will definitely go back as will my friends..... Kathy Ruffing, Slippery Rock, PA

Really added to my understanding of the event.

This is a "must see" tour, especially if visiting ground zero is something that interests you. If you do not live in New York it will really give you a much greater appreciation of the impact that the event had on the city and those who participated in the recovery process. My impression is that is not really about the World Trade Center collapsing but about the humanity and dignity that was brough back to site during the recovery process. It did give me a greater appreciation of the devastation that the event caused, but also gaive me peace about the reconstruction process that is presently occuring.

Not to be missed museum

We came to New York on a "girls only" holiday and had heard about the ground zero museum on Trip Advisor. I think most people will agree that 9/11 was a historical event in that we all will remember where we were/what we were doing when the news flash came on and we saw the plane hit the first tower. As the horrific story unfolded I remember crying on and off for about four weeks solid thinking about the thousands who lost their lives and the thousands left behind. This museum was the most heart rending experience we have had, the graphic stories behind all the photos and artifacts around the museum will stay with me forever, from the retired fireman searching for months for his son's body to the really spooky clock which was stopped on the time the first plane hit, the iron boulders that landed in the shape of a cross and the look of desperation on the fire fighters' faces searching for their colleagues, but it was all created in such a serene way that we all felt quite peaceful when we came out and truly felt we had paid our respects to the poor souls who perished!

Thoroughly enjoyed Ground Zero Museum

On Saturday Feb. 21st at 1:00 I along with two friends from Massachusetts went on the Ground Zero Museum tour. I enjoyed it very much. It's still unbelievable how moving it is to think back to that day on Sept. 11, 2001. The way the photographer took pictures of what life was like shortly after the attack for so many people really puts things in perspective. I enjoyed how we each had our own earphones and we were able to listen to exactly what we wanted to. If something really interested us, we were able to listen to it a couple of times.........it was our choice. Everything was explained to us fully. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who would like to learn and see more of what happened on that dreadful day.

I would highly recommend this to anyone. It was very moving and such an amazing way of providing a place where friends and family could go to reflect on the events from 9/11. Most of my party had a few tears in their eyes by the time the tour was over... The lady who explained everything was helpful and passionate. The audio systems was a great way of being able to listen and find out about each individual artifact and also enabled you to take your time with each item/photograph. Gary was there at the end to answer any questions and also to sign photos etc. I still cant believe the amazing photos I saw, where he was able to capture the sadness during the massive recovery operation at ground zero. There were some really lovely touches as well, like being offered chocolates at the end to lighten the mood! Thank you so much, this tour will be something that will stay with me forever.

Fascinating and a must while vising New York

We visited the Ground Zero Museum with 8 x 18 year olds. We learnt so much - none of which (or could have been) broadcast at the time. So many little details and so many interesting facts. We were extremely lucky to meet Gary Marlon Suson who answered all the questions the girls had. We found the museum an extremely fitting tribute to the many thousands of people who perished in the atrocity which was 9/11. This should be on list of things to do while in New York.

An absolute MUST on tourist schedule for New York

A friend recommended we go to this & I'm so glad we included it on our agenda. To me it's a very moving tribute to the victims & recovery workers. I was particularly impressed that the museum does not attribute blame, hatred or retribution towards the perpetrators but that it is a respectful memorial and reminder & hope that this will never happen again.

Sobering...

I would recommend everyone experience this museum workshop tour...it is as important as visiting the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park or the Met in New York City and clearly presents insight to yet another chapter of American History. The tour was well presented and sobering-very profound. I cried at the personal stories, bravery and tragedy. We must always remember...

I found the experience very meaningful and helpful in the healing process. I find it difficult to put into words a review that you are seeking.
