Incredibly Moving

This tour was by appointment/reservation only and it was in a small group setting (15 or so people). It was very respectful and very tastefully done. There was an emphasis on healing, which we greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this tour to anyone.

If you want the full impact of the events of 9/11, this is the place to go. Our entire family went, and everyone got something out of it. Highly recommended!

This was an incredible experience

I was fortunate enough to attend on a day that Gary was present himself, and it was fascinating to speak with him and hear first-hand about his experiences in the recovery effort at Ground Zero. His story is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. I learned so much from my two hours here about the aftermath of 911, and the incredible efforts made by the recovery workers. It was truly inspiring to hear the stories of these people and to understand first-hand what happened in the months following 9-11. I moved beyond words by some of the photographs taken by Gary during those months and being able to see some of the artifacts was amazing. I highly recommend attending this workshop to gain a real understanding of the recovery efforts. The venue is small and intimate and unlike any other museum I have ever been in. This gives the participant a real sense of being in the midst of the recovery scene and provides a hands-on look at what is required to come out the other side of such a tragic event. I was mesmerized by the stories of these workers at Ground Zero.

9/11 is a big and personal event. Your museum allowed me to process the experience how I wanted in an intimate setting.

Don't miss this!

We just spent a week in NYC and this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Being from California, we only experienced 9/11 from afar through the media, but this museum/workshop made the event very significant and personal to our entire family (we have two teenaged children). Even though costly, it is well worth the price, and a part of the proceeds does go to victims' families. Our tour guide was superb and the museum itself is top notch. Don't miss this if you are in NYC.

Amazing

I didn't expect to see so much from behind the scenes. I had no idea about the damaged building across the street, the one the insurance companies wouldn't let any one go into for so long, or the subway track under the WTC. Its wonderful how everyone pulled together. I was only surprised that the tour didn't end at the sight, but when our tour was over and we went to ground zero I understood more as to why.

A Moving 9/11 Tribute.

Tour Length : 1-1:30hrs approx. Tour Location : You stay in the building (You DO NOT visit Ground Zero on the tour) Restroom : Yes Having read recent customer reviews, my sister and I decided to book this tour to see the up-close-and-personal photos/artefacts following the atrocities on 9/11. What followed was emotional. After being greeted by the guide (usually a person who was there that day) you are invited to watch an interview with Gary Marlon Suson (the OFFICIAL photographer at Ground Zero) and then a montage of photos dubbed over with actual phone/radio chatter from that fateful day. After this you are given your own personal electronic 'story-teller'. All around the room are photos taken by Gary and arfefacts from Ground Zero, each has a number, you tap the number in your 'story-teller' and a clip of Gary himself telling you the inside story of that piece. You are actually allowed to hold certain pieces frowm Ground Zero, this allows you to have some sort of connection. This is a very well put together workshop, and any money made from sales of books/posters/cards will be shared among the victim's families. There is no rush to get round and listen to every story of every picture/artefact as you can easily get round before the next tour starts. Our tour guide was Lou (who volunteers at the church across the street from Ground Zero, St Paul's I think - another must see) and Gary Suson was also there to give an introduction. All-in-all this is a must see workshop if you want to see photos that have never been seen in public.

Sensitive Portrayal

This small initimate museum portrays sensitively the events of 9/11. The self guided audio head sets allow you to take in what you want from the displayed photographs around the room, order is not important. It is the overall experience that counts. Although sad it is an important collection with a message to the viewer that we should never forget the day that the world lost its innocence. It was a bonus to meet the photographer on the day we attended.

Journey into recent historical event .

I was planning a trip to New York City with my youngest daughter as part of her 16th birthday celebration. I used the internet to research the areas we wanted to see. Having not been to NYC since the WTC bombings, it was one of the destinations on my list . I saw information about the Ground Zero Museum Workshop on a WTC site. After reading about Mr Suson's experience while visiting the Anne Frank home, I knew I wanted to bring my daughter to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. Since she was 8 years of age at the time of the WTC bombings, I felt at age 16 she would be able to have a better understanding of this historical time. The presentation of this event was on a level which the media completely missed. It showed the true grit of those involved in the recovery and the dignity with which they carried out the unimaginable. We learned more in just two hours about this tragic event (even though I had watched the media coverage), its' effect on those living in New York City and our own connection with this part of history, more than I thought possible!. My daughter questioned me afterward about why her history classes have not be able to convey this information in the same way. I told her sometimes you have to hear from someone who was there, just as Anne Franks' diary brought that part of history to us, Gary Suson gives voice to this historical event through photographs, artifacts and his personal descriptions. This was the most memorable time we spent in NYC and in the months to come it will be described and discussed with many family and friends.
