Moving Tribute
Sat, Jun 21, 08   1:00 PM Kel2001 Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Other
My outlook on the event has completly changed from visiting this workshop. This is a very tastefully done tribute to those that were lost that day.You can touch artifacts as well as listen to stories behind pictures. Gary has done a fantastic job in capturing the emotion-no words are needed for the pictures as they tell the story, something which I found very moving. Watching the event on T.V was one thing, but visiting the workshop really opened my eyes. The guide was fantastic as she took her time to go through the artifacts & pictures. A must see if in New York.

surprisingly uplifting

having been a NYer all of my life and being in NYC on 9/11 I was reluctant and at the same time drawn to the museum. I have been to the WTC site many times since 9/11, have many friends and family members who have experienced personal loss and who participated in the search and rescue. It was a pleasure to be able to take each part of the exhibit at one's own pace. Choose to skip over certain parts or spend extra time at others. the size of the exhibit and the restriction of participants gave you an opportunity not often found in a museum and certainly not in one in NYC. I took my son who was 11 at the time of the attack and who has a different perspective, but nonetheless, he too was impressed. While it was an emotional experience, it was not overwhelming. Balanced? Respectful certainly. Memorable and worth the time.

This was a very meaningful and well done memorial
Tue, Jun 17, 08   1:00 PM kathystoulp Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My two sisters and I traveled from Iowa to view this memorial to 9-11, and it was very well done and we felt that it was a fitting tribute to those who died on 9-11. We hope that all peoples who mourn those who perished in these attacks, will go to experience this memorial. Our guide was so nice and concerned that we benefit from all the displays and really explained everything in the exhibit. Thank you so much..

Absolutely Intensely Moving!

I feel so priviledged and blessed for having been permitted to view the 9-11 pictoral human-ness of that horrible day, and to hear the obviously heartfelt dialogue of the official NYFD photographer, Gary Suson, as he literally waded through one gut-wrenching experience after another. The personal experiences of Gary is portrayed through his compassionate and tasteful photography. No one can leave the same as he entered the museum. The regret is the exhibit is only there in NYC and not more accessible to the masses around the nation. Thank you so much for this always to be remembered experience. We attended as mother, adult daughter, and 14 yr old grandson. The exhibit was captivating to each one equally.

How the cruelty of humanity can be trumped by love

The workshop is amazing and I have recommended it to everyone that I have spoken to. It was incredible to see such intimate photos of this horrific time in our history. To think that fellow humans could have orchestrated this whole terrorist act is mind-numbing. Seeing the photos and listening to the audio reminded me of when I woke up to the radio while in New Zealand, hearing that this tragedy had occurred and feeling so helpless and grief-stricken for the victims - their final minutes, and the lifetime of grief of those that were left behind. However, I felt like I gained a greater perspective of the lives that were touched so chillingly during that time. Attending this workshop has made me so grateful to be alive, but so humbled that so many people lost their lives, or have the memories of such terror imprinted into their souls. Thank you so much for having this resource - I can see how people would gain great solace and closure from such a place.

A very informative tour

The whole theme was presented very factually and very well without over sentimentality. Although we were very moved by the whole tour we were pleased that it seemed to avoid upsetting scenes and actions that I would have found quite hard to personally deal with. A must see if in New York for a few days

A provoking view of a crucial event in US history

The photographs, artifacts, and the accompanying story lines (on the audio devices) provide insight and little-known stories about an event which changed the world and the US forever.

You won't want to miss it.

After seeing all the sights, this was one of the last things on my daughter and my list. Absolutely the best part of our trip!! One of the most moving experiences of my life. Such a warm and comforting atmosphere. The photos, artifacts, & stories make you feel such a part of the whole event. Love the book we purchased we both read it cover to cover, and other family members are waiting patiently for their turn.
