My husband and I recently visited the Ground Zero Museum and found it to be very informative. It is amazing what you can learn from the pictures and artifacts on display. I found it to be very respectful of the events and a tribute to loved ones who perished on that terrible day that none of us will be able to forget. I am a retired teacher who will never forget Sept. 11th and this was my first visit to New York since 2000. I highly recommend this experience - it makes history come alive and should not be missed! |

Definitely one of the best museum/workshop we've visited in New York! The venue is small but it gives a great atmosphere. Photos are of top quality but I guess not one of our group of 25 people managed to listen to audio tour for all exhibits. 2 hours was simply too short. 3 to 3.5 hours recommended (to the event organiser). For potential visitors, just one piece of advice, go quick!! as soon as video is finished you start moving!!! |

Our tour guides were fabulous, informative and very passionate about the cause of Ground Zero. At the same time they were discrete and caring. The museum is built as a healing experience which is why you don't see the planes crashing into the towers, but the movies and each picture in the musem has a story that goes straight to your heart. The terrorists killed so many innocent people with such evil thats incomprehensible, but brought America and the western world together so none of us will NEVER FORGET the lost lives of our heroes and the freedom we will continue to fight for. |

My husband and I attended the ground zero museum earlier this month after seeing it advertised on the internet. We are Australians living in London visiting New York city for a holiday.
My husband is a war correspondent and has visited many war zones and seen many attrocities. He was part of the media frenzy that descended after the 9/11 attacks so he was interested in seeing the museum.
OUr first impression wasn't overwhelming however after the first few minutes this changes. What we didn't anticipate wass our emotional response to the stories, memorabilia and photos and during the two hours we were there (we were the last to leave!) we were confronted with the heroism, fear and distress that so many people felt and continue to feel as a result of the attacks.
I would definitiely recommend to fmaily and friends and we even got our NYC hosts to attend last weekend - they too were rewarded as we were.
I think the sensitivity and power of Gary Susan and the people working at the museum were outstanding. |

Overall this was good but the collection could probably do with moving to a bigger venue now. Connected with that having the customers waiting beforehand on the pavement for the collection to open was not good. |

My wife and I (both from New Zealand) spent about 90 minutes in this museum which is about the same size as my lounge. Following a brief intro from the guide, the bulk of the session is guided by an audio tour narrated by the photographer whose work is on display (together with other artifacts from the recovery sight). The audio tour is excellent and provided a great commentary on the roughly 100 exhibits in the museum. Provides some moving insights regarding the 9/11 recovery process. |

We were curious as to why this museum was located not near the actual location of GroundZero. Then our curiosity was piqued when such a big deal kept being made about Suson being the only official photographer. It was emphasized in printed matter, on the website, and the 2 girls who were the "docents" also mentioned it more than once.
We wondered why other museums did not show interest or want to mount this exhibit. It seemed strange, given the quality of the photos. And once in the space, I was unsettled about the way Suson inserted himself into the exhibit. for instance, including things of his ( a prayer book, a box that held a roll of film, even the extent of personal narration), instead of letting the exhibit be more objective.
Something in the end did not add up.
In the end, I'm not sure I would have gone and paid money to see the exhibit if I had done my homework first.
In the end, part of me wishes |

A thoroughly engrossing museum which allows the audience into a world few have seen. The photographer who created this museum does a great job in creating an interesting, informative and moving way to share his unique 9/11 experience. |

A lot of information packed into a small museum. Was very interesting but was hoping to see a few larger items. A lot of the museum is made up of a display of well taken photos. I guess we were looking for something with a view more items on display. |

I would recomend this museum to everyone, except small children. It would be nice if the place would be a bit more roomy, but the staff was great, informative and we left with an incredible feeling. |

This was a profound experience. The photographer's (Gary Marlon Suson) work is personal and gripping. Having him describe each scene and artifacts pulled from Ground Zero [using earphones] brings the visitor into the moment. This is the best museum I have ever visited and is a "must do" for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the rescue and recovery efforts following 9-11. Most people already have a high regard for the police and firefighters; their esteem for these heroes will soar after this museum experience. |

I "booked" tickets for Liberty Island/Ellis Island on Tuesday and the GroundZero Workshop on Wednesday (or so I thought).. We did the Liberty/Ellis Islands tour and when we got back to the motel, checked out our tickets for "Ground Zero". That's when we realized that our tour was Thursday. Undaunted, we went to the meeting area, hoping to be able to change dates, and willing to buy a new ticket. We found that they were closed on Wednesday. When I got home, I found that I had, indeed, requested a Wednesday tour, but the ticket WAS dated Thursday. (My fault for not "proofreading" the ticket). However, we toured the little church that was next to GroundZero (whick miraculously escaped any physical damage) and the church where they ministered to the needs of the rescue workers. I'm not easily inspired by this type of thing, but there were tears in my eyes while I was there. If you can't make the workshop for whatever reason, definitely visit these two churches. That alone is worth the money spent on the workshop. Again, PROOFREAD YOUR TICKET!! |
