Very Compelling

I personally found this exhibit to be very informative and thought-provoking. It helps to understand the event by hearing the photographer's personal experiences as he watched the rescue workers/firemen/police, etc. as they searched thru the debris. Without his explanations on the tour device, some of the photos would not have been so meaningful. We experienced the excessive crowds and a very un-user friendly process to visit the statue of liberty the preceeding day -- it made me thankful that our "tour" of this museum had a limited number of people present --this added greatly to the experience. My son who is 17 was with me--he definitely remembers the day and my reactions to what I was watching on TV when he woke up....the ability to see the objects and the narrative on the photos was very powerful to him. After we left, we went to St. Paul's and the exhibit across the street that shows what the memorial will look like. It was a special day that I know we will not forget. Thank you for sharing! Really Interesting and inspiring

A great small museum, packed full of real interest. We could have spent hours here looking at the photographs and hearing the stories behind them. The museum helped bring to life the experiences of the brave firefighters at Ground Zero. Really made us think. Thoroughly recommend this museum.

Heartbreaking and uplifting from breath to breath

Intimate, respectful and heart touching. The tour was like being let into a moment of history for a short time to touch, listen and learn about that fateful day and what the men, women and canines went through to find what was lost on 9/11. I highly recommend this tour for anyone. Though I don't think that young children really "Get" what it was about. But that is not to say that they arnt catered for. But it is a heavy subject and there can be emotional people there that may cry a few silent tears and not one person that did was left feeling bad for doing so. A much needed and as the tour guide said "The museum is a healing place" and I agree. For all that was lost, so much was found. Truely a great experience. Thank you.

Very Interesting but was not as expected

We start by say that 9/11 is something highly significant in our times and a great tragedy for anyone involved so please do not mis-understand our comments. We chose this exhibit over several others as we felt it was going to be more involving and we would see some amazing photography/pictures post the event. We have to say that the initial video shown was of a very poor quality and that very few pictures really conveyed the emotion implied in the publicity. Indeed we felt we have seen much better (emotive and visual) photography of the event, and, given the privilege of being the sole person allowed to photograph the aftermath we feel it has largely been a missed opportunity. ie: we did not connect with the exhibits as was implied. Additionally, the room, with tape/cd players, wires and a floor based screen, etc. was neither professionally laid out or well presented and the exhibits were crammed into too smaller place. We also felt this was not respectful of the exhibit contents. For us 9/11 is something that will always remain in our thoughts. Fortunately, we personally suffered no loss and it is difficult to imagine what it must be like for those who did. Our thoughts are with them and for any event that can help them come to terms with their loss. We are, however, not certain that this event achieves its objectives in the manner prescribed.

A must for familys

We enjoyted the museum as it filled informaiton not on the news at the time of the clean up of Ground Zero. The photographer came and spoke with the group, giving autographs of photos he had taken during the clean up of Ground Zero. This activity is highly recomended for everyone.

Moving and Informative

I was totally impressed with the quality and quantity of the information packed into this hands-on museum. My time was not only well spent, but the impression made will never leave me. The photos alone would have been great, but the additional commentary, and ability to reach out and actually touch some of the artifacts made this experience fantastic...even with the tears it brought to my eyes, and the lump to my throat . . . the images have been etched into my mind.

The guides were exceptional. Honored to have met Gary. I came with my grandson and I could see how he was touched by the photographs and items on display. He touched them with great reverance. It was an experience done in perfect taste and respect for the fallen.

This is something that everyone should see. It may be small in size, but it is big on passion and emotion. It gives a true feeling of what it was like after the devastation of 9-11.

Intimate Experience

The museum is in one small room and provides a very intimate experience of the recovery efforts of 9/11, a subtle powerful event that is not covered in the media. It is a quite unique museum compared to others in the city.

This is a much different "Sept 11th" activity that we have experienced in past NY visits. Intimate museum space, with interesting narration of the events surrounding 9-11 at whatever pace one desires, and some terrific exhibits in addition to all the photos..
