Ground Zero Museum Workshop is a must see...

This tour was way above and beyond what I expected. I would best describe the information given as being the type that one does not see or hear about on telivision or documentaries. Gary Marlon Suson (photographer) did an excellent job conveying many stories about the cleanup at Ground Zero and how this tragedy has effected everyone.

TOP marks for Ground Zero Museum

Fascinating and emotional insight into recent history presented in a very professional style which does justice to everyone who worked so hard during those difficult months. There are loads of photographs accomapnied by an audio / visual presentation and many other artifacts. Don't confuse this museum with the one that is located 'on site'- said to also contain personal items recovered from the wreckage. (we didn't visit that museum as we didn't think the idea of putting such items on public show was in good taste). You won't be disappointed with the former museum though - HIGHLY recommended...JG/SG (UK)

This is a really worthwhile stop in NYC. I have visited the city many times includding the top of the WTC in Nov. 2000. It has been difficult to fatham this devistating event. When I left Ground Zero Museum, I felt I had a better understanding of what NYC endured on 9/11 and throught the recovery. The message I have taken is that so many individuals along with our Nation as a whole were able to move forward with such powerful strength.

The Ground Zero Museum is not what you would expect from a 'normal' museum. It's one room filled with artifacts and photographs from the World Trade center site. The audio portion of the tour is very informative and educational. The tour helps us remember all the people that perished in the tragedy and that we should keep them in our memories forever.

A powerful experience

I wasn't sure what to expect with the museum but the director who was the only authorized photographer at ground zero told the stories through sound and pictures and really helped me remember the tradgedy as well as the human spirit. The insights provided a powerful testimony of the many sacrifices and heart warming stories from the world trade center. A truly wothwhile part of any visit to NYC

A very moving experience

This interactive museum offers a thoughtful and sensitive experience of the 9-11 rescue and recovery efforts. The museum is very respectful of what an emotional response the photos will ellicit and therefore limits the tour groups to around 20 people or so, with plenty of kleenex to go around. You independently move through the photos and artifacts, which are numbered, by using a handheld control and headset. Gary Souson narrates each item with a story or reflection. Gary Souson (the photographer who docmented through his photos) was there for our tour group to answer questions and talk with everyone. This museum experience offers you a very real understanding of how the remarkable New York (and other area) Fire fighters, police officers and Port Authority officials worked tirelessly at the heartbreaking task that had to be done. Gary's spirituality and love of God shines through his photos. This is a must for anyone who wants to understand what devastation Ground Zero really was and the effect it had on everyone involved in the rescue and recovery. I give it an 11 out of 10!!!

Top NYC Historical Site

My husband and I are from MO and haven't had a chance to visit NYC since the tragic September 11 terrorist attacks so when we made our way to down to the Ground Zero site we were disappointed there was only construction going on there although we still said a prayer for all of the lives lost there. We then stumbled upon the Ground Zero Musuem website and hesitantly booked tickets not having any idea what we were going to see. We were overwhelmed with emotion as well as grateful that the memories of that day are not lost completely. The currator has preserved moments in time and stories through pictures that capture the day and months following the tradegy at the same time showing a deep respect for the victim's familes. All proceeds are donated to the benefit of the 911 victims' families and other related charities. I wouldn't miss it and as a matter of fact, I would like to go back and have the time to inspect and absorb each and every remenant and picture in the museum. The staff was very knowledgeable and courteous.

A must see if you are visiting New York

The Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour is a must on your agenda if you are visiting New York. Gary Suson was the official photographer at Ground Zero for the Uniformed Firefighter's Association and Uniformed Fire Officer's Association, and it is his pictures which you will see. He also recovered a number of items from the site, which would have otherwise been destroyed. Emotionally the Workshop Tour is an informative look at the horrific event that shook the world on September 11, 2001. With the photos and items on view from the Ground Zero site - each has a story which you can hear through audio and so gain a personal insight into that day - a day we should never forget.

A must see...hands down!

Unlike any museum you've ever seen. Tasteful, personal, sad, and honorable... will tug at your heart strings like nothing else. A much needed respectful display to honor that day never to be forgotten. Our children were quite little when 911 happened. Now, at ages 13 and 15 it was a moving experience that placed the missing pieces together for them; and us as well. Just to give you an idea: not a big cold building but a quaint small room quiet and serene with more information and memories that you could ever imagine. You see, you touch, and you will feel. Although a very heavy experience, one that no true Native New-Yorker should miss. Tips...Don't be late, a short movie is first and nothing you ever ever seen on tv. Try to see the last tour so you can take your time...so much to see and hear about. Bring a camera for sure. And if Gary is coming...wait for him...meeting him was a healing moment. And gal pals...wear waterproof mascara if any at all. Families...do something fun afterward like wax museum. And last but not least.....please tell Gretchen (who is wonderful) that Kim sent you. last words....Worth every dollar and moment of our time, would do it again in a heart beat.

I was very moved by the Ground Zero Museum Workshop and Tour.Having all those pictures and artifacts in such a small room made it seem like I was actually there with Gary. I was lucky enough to meet Gary at the Museum . It really put a face to everything I had seen.

a good experience, but not amazing
Thu, Aug 27, 09   1:00 PM philip1000 Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Individual
I was very excited at the thought of seeing video footage and images of september 11 that were hidden from the public. I thought it would be a surreal and emotional experience that every person should see, if only out of respect for those that lost their lives. While a lot of the images were touching, I thought I would have seen a lot more of the aftermaths of 9/11 than were presented on the walls of the musuem and in the video I saw. Not that I wanted to see human remains or anything like that, but most of the images were of inaminate objects that had been found in the remains. That being said, I would definitely go to the musuem, more because of that fact that the money you spend on your ticket goes to 9/11 related charities than anything else. That is reason enough, though you may gain more from the experience than I did - just dont expect to be blown away by what you see and you'll enjoy it.

The museum is small but well worth a visit. I like the way you can listen to the stories behind each artifact on yr own headphones and in yr own time. Very informative, and although deeply saddening I would def recommend
