Must See in NYC

Incredible. This is a must see attraction if you're visiting NYC. Don't let the size of the museum fool you, you'll need all 2 hours to absorb everything.

not to be missed

My husband & I reently enjoyed a long weekend to New York to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. My daughter recommended a visit to the museum following her trip earlier this year. I cannot express how moving this exhibit is and how Gary's photographs portrayed the monumental events of Sept 11th. Many people in the group were moved to silent tears as indeed was I. I thoroughly recommend this tour and defy anyone not to be moved by this pictorial and audio history of events during that tragic time. I salute all members of the emergency services who worked tirelessly in their efforts to rescue people, and for those who lost their lives, we will never forget.

Very moving. The pictures show true American spirit and were well done. I still grieve for the many families who lost so many. Thank you Gary for allowing us to see your work.

Ground Zero Museum

I attended the museum workshop with my 16 yr old brother who wanted to see it before he went back to school. We both were expected a large museum, and to our surprise it was not. Although the museum was fairly small, it was very intimate. It shared all of the memories of what happened through picture and artifacts. I would recommend this to anyone. A few more members of my family are already planning a trip to see this.

Unforgettable

I realized there where many aspects of 9/11 that I had not gave much thought to. I did not realize the lasting health affects of the searchers, including the dogs that helped with the search. I also did not realize the fathers and retirees that had such a grim task of searching for their sons. The trip to your museum was at the request of my 15 year old step-son and you made it a worthwhile journey for us all. Thank you Mr. Suson, for bringing these images to us all, thank you for helping give closure to those who need it and enlightenment to those who did not know.

Educational and Intense

Our family from the Toronto area (2 boys ages 10 and 14 plus parents) spent a week in New York visiting several attractions in the city. When we were flying home we reviewed our trip. It was mutually agreed by all that this was by far the most worthwhile experience. Personally, I have been to New York numerous times over the years but this was my 1st time post 9-11. Your exhibit captured the overall tone, I felt, of how the city has changed. It is more subdued, very deeply effected by 9-11, a city with the wind knocked out of it, and one that is trying to make sense of it all. I feel a great deal more safe in New York now, the people are much easier to approach, helpful and I sensed a enlightened spirituality. The 1st thing I did when i got home was read the passage from the book of Genesis which was found among the rubble, the miracle among the ashes. Thank You for helping raise my understanding of humanity. Cathy Munn

Very Intimate Experience

Our museum tour was great. The two girls who were in charge of the presentation were excellent. Our group had about 12 people in all, and the museum is a small intimate setting, unlike the crowded, noisy visitor center next to ground zero. You were able to really get a sense of 9/11 in a personal way. We then took a cab ride to ground zero and went to St. Paul's church which was referenced at the museum. I would highly recommend going to the Ground Zero museum.

A stunning and sensitive museum collection

When we entered to begin our tour of this museum, we were fortunate to discover that Gary Suson was present. He gave us an introduction to his museum and also gave an insight into the conditions he witnessed during the recovery at Ground Zero. The museum is a collection of stunning photo's taken by Gary Suson and a selection of artefacts recovered from Ground Zero. Each of the exhibits has a corresponding number, which is keyed into the supplied audio handset and headphones to give a narrative description. The museum is very well laid out and it takes almost the full duration of the allotted time to view all of the items and listen to the audio descriptions. Each of the exhibits is sensitively displayed and captures the reality and humanity of what took place at Ground Zero. The museum is a respectful reminder that we should never forget the events of 9/11 or the countless number of people affected by this tragedy. We briefly met Gary Suson again as we left the museum and we would like to thank him and his staff for having the vision to bring about the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. This museum is a "Must See" on any New York itinery.

i had gone to the world trade center site the day before, and left not really knowing how to feel and thought about what it was going to be the next day (the day of the ground zero workshop). i felt welcomed right away, and really enjoyed the workshop. i felt like i was able to relive the feelings that i had that morning on 9/11, shocked and in disbelief however, i was incredibility inspired by the moving photos and items that were displayed. i really felt connected and i thought the way the workshop was set up was wonderful. i highly recommend this workshop to others.

Very small but good

This museum was very informative. Even though it's such a small room, it's perfect because you get to see everything up close with nobody in your way. You can even take pictures of actual articles and memorabilias. That's something that I really enjoyed and took advantage of. Being in that room, made me realize how lucky I am to be alive and made me more respectful towards those pictures, artifacts and that day. Even being in that room with a small group of people, you can feel the sorrow and the pain from the tragedy that had happened. Overall, I really enjoyed this museum. You don't have to wait in a long line, you can make reservations so it's better that way. I highly reccommend this museum to anyone.

Museum Was Great

What a good reminder for all of us. Very thought through museum. Not overly emotional or heavy but enough so that we don't forget everything that happened. Also very informative and very interesting to see so many items that were really there. Makes it really hit home. A few times I was choked up but it did not bring me down for the rest of the day as I worried it might. I would recommend to everyone.

This museum is small but delivers a very powerful message. It was well presented and the guides were great. Very intimate and you will see and hear things that have not been seen anywhere else. This is a must see.

Extremely Worthwhile!

This was, unexpectedly, the most worthwhile "tour"/museum of my most recent stay in NYC. I am a native who now lives in Florida & wanted my chiildren to be educated on this so important event. My children are 9 & 13 and both were engaged in the photos, artifacts and narratives explaining these things. A very important piece of history is tastefully documented here. Both adults and children were emotionally moved by this display of Ground Zero. Don't miss this!

A Must See
Thu, Aug 13  11:00 AM 4ddiane Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Having had children in the school I teach at lose parents and other relatives, I was so important for me to be there. The pictures captures humanity, at one of our nation's darkest hours, with love, respect, determination, fortitude, and raw emotion. It is as important to visit as the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. It is a place of healing, reverence, and appreciation. Don't miss it.
