Powerful visual and aural insights

I found the Ground Zero Workshop Museum on the web by chance whilst Googling for things to do on our recent first visit to NYC, DC and Williamsburg. Our visit was without doubt the highlight of the whole trip. Stark, vivid and emotional images captured by the artist's camera are brought to life by the informative guides and the excellent self guided audio tour. The latter in particular was impressive, with the artist's voiceover complimented by soundtracks taken from that fateful day and shortly afterwards. The most vivid of many memories I took away were the emotion of images portraying the retired cops & firefighters looking for thier missing sons and the seeming official indifference to the financial plight of the firefighter who contracted throat cancer from breathing in toxic fumes and the attitude of the insurers who prevented access to the Deutsche Bank building for four years!!

Good, but over priced

The content was interesting and the commentary on the headsets well done - not too much talking, but enough to bring the photos alive. For $15 this would have been a highly recommended experience. But for almost $30 - simply over-priced.

Very memorable and worth the price

For starters, I would like to start off by saying , the tour guides were very nice and professional. They explained thoroughly what we were to see, hear, and expect among the two hours of the stay. Even though the physical space is small, there was plenty of information to see, and hear through the state of the art audio tour. It put me personally back in the time period of September 2001. At times it made me emotional which was to expect. Just seeing the pieces of rubble, parts of the building and personal belongings that were gathered from the site just put me in another state of mind of tranquility, anger, and then saddness form all that happened that day. I LOVE the pictorial book that I purchased. It really explains the reality of what the photographer went through for the period of time that he and the firefighters/police/ EMT'S delt with this unbelievable tragedy. Thank you very much for the memory. There is not a day that goes by that I could forget what happened on that day. "I will never forget". And now, I have a new memory to remember daily! Darrin Smith

An awe-inspiring experience

I would highly recommend a visit to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. It is an incredible experience that was quite emotional. While I was saddened by the devastation that this disaster wrought, I was also uplifted by the amazing efforts of every individual involved in the aftermath of 9/11. The museum showcases the aftermath of the destruction of the WTC, but it also emphasizes how humanity can come together under incredible circumstances. Well worth a visit.

I was so thankful we ( a group of 3 friends) decided to do this activity. The museum is put together so well with all the displays of the photographs and artifacts. Listening to the audio narration that told the stories behind each picture was so fascinating. It almost felt like you were right there at the time of the recovery. It was a very emotional experience for me. Everything is done in such a respectful and meaningful way. I would highly recommend this event.

Extremely emotional experience but really added to the entire Ground Zero (9/11) visit for tourists from out of state. Would recommend to anyone visiting Ground Zero or who have never visited this museum. Excellent presentation of recovery items and entire recovery effort. Put a very real and personal touch on everything. Very well done...impressive. Worth every penny. Also glad to visit the Meat Packing district for this specific experience while on a hectic "tour" of major sites in Manhattan. Excellent people watching, designer stores across the street etc .

Very moving experience

The Ground Zero Museum was a very moving and emotional experience. The museum is very small and my first thought was 'is this all there is?'...however, even though the room is small, there are many exhibits, each with an audio description, so it is very easy to spend 2 hours there. I highly recommend this tour.

This was an interesting experience. The photos were moving and tastefully displayed. Although this is such an emotional topic, my husband and I both thought the tour was worth visiting.

My husband and I visited the museum Aug 26. We didn't know what to expect but after reading reviews felt we had to visit and are glad we did. Mr. Suston did an amazing job of capturing the emotion of that grim day. This is a very moving presentation and one that I would highly recommend.

I visited with the museum with my Husband this week, although reading many reviews we didn't quite know what to expect, but when we arrived we were very surprised at how sensitively and compassionately the Museum was set up with a very personal touch to it. The pictures and artefacts were truly fascinating especially with the commentary to go along with them to explain the story behind each one. We would defintely recommend making a visit to this museum while on a visit to New York.

Excellent photographs with explicit commentaries

The museum was smaller than I expected but the photography was excellent and the comments by Mr. Suson really gave you a feel for the gravity of the experience. It is artfully presented and respectfully done. I did feel the tour was a bit pricey at $25 per person. It was mentioned that a portion of the proceeds go to the families of 9-11 but it was never clarified as to how much.
